So yeah, just about nothing happened in this episode. Jimbei and Luffy are still ready to slug it out, Zoro and company are still trapped, and yeah....
The only big thing was Brook showing off one weird trick. So luckily while Luffy and Jimbei kill each other at least the crew might be able to rescue themselves. Getting a good laugh at Hody popping pills because Zoro owned him. Jimbei really needs to calm down. Things are only going to be changed by the people deciding to change. Whether Luffy or Jimbei resolves this issue doesn't seem to me to mean that much. Especially if the King gets killed while they are arguing. Hopefully they can get their acts together and accomplish something next episode.

I am getting the feeling they are going to go all DBZ on this arc and drag it out for as long as possible....probably so to give the manga a bit of chance to get ahead.
This episode was...ok I just want things to really kick off asap....yes I'm impatient but I'm cool with that.

We actually don't know how strong they are yet. When we actually look at it so far, the crew did not grow too overly powerful. Take for example, Brook here. He got beaten up by grunt Fishmen and captured with Zoro and Usopp. Usopp and Zoro both played dead instead of stand up and fight against those grunts. It makes them seem fairly weak.
However, they do look they are on par with Boa, since Boa was destroying Pacifistas with single kicks. Sanji and Zoro did the same. On the other hand, I have to believe that Boa is much, much stronger than we have seen. As for Luffy, given all his abilities and the haki to predict moves, I still stand to believe that he is currently stronger than Ace was and at Admiral level. I don't think he is at Emperor level, but Admiral seems about right.

The skirmish against Jinbe speaks loads for Luffy's current level. Granted neither was serous, but even then it was enough to see that if anything, Luffy is around Jinbe's level (possibly slightly weaker). Both did a basic attack, no gears, haki or power-ups but Luffy clearly took more damage, Jinbe even commentated that his attack was disappointing. As for being Admiral or Emperor level...they are nowhere near that. First of, we are halfway through the series...what point is there if Luffy is at the level of the strongest people in the world? It never happened before in the series, Luffy and crew were always underdogs. This arc, from what we've seen, they could have done before the training so...so far the only guy who has give Luffy trouble has been Jinbe. Jinbe is also nowhere near an admiral's level, he's at Ace's level and Ace was pretty much bellow admiral level (he was even with Aokiji due to their powers being opposites and got his ass kicked by Akainu...plus no haki control). Admirals and Emperors have been shown to be worlds apart from the rest and I don't see Luffy and his crew reaching their level any time soon. (I don't say this with manga knowledge...as this topic is still being discussed in the manga threads) |

Not much happened this episode. It was essentially a summary of all the Hody's guys' whereabouts. It feels so much like a filler episode. Luffy and Jimbei yelled at each other. Chopper was the only one that made any sense. Everyone was essentially frozen in their location this episode. The only thing of significance was that the drug overdose by Hody has turned into a white vampire... err... some super monster.

Crocodile and the top brass of Baroque Works: Felt like a major threat;
Enel and his priests: Felt like a big threat; Lucci and the rest of CP9: Felt like a huge threat; Moria, Orz and the rest of the TB leaders: Felt like a scary threat; Kizaru, Sentomaru and the Kumabots: Felt like an impossible threat; Magellan and the awakened zoans: Felt like a good threat; Let's not even touch on how many impossible adversaries there were in the war... The New Fishman Pirates: Don't feel like much of a threat; |

Looks like every part of the island is infested by those fish-man pirates.
Things are looking really bad for the locals. Hordy became a total steroid junky and is even crazier than before. King Neptune was pretty pathetic. Hordy's new look is terrifying and he's crazy strong too.

Yay! This episode moved a little bit. Luffy and company is MIA, since they showed that the crew was not where they were previously. My guess is that the whole crew went to the plaza to rescue the king, while Jimbei came to his senses and are going to rescue the other half of the crew in the palace. They made it look like Jimbei won the fight between Luffy and himself, but considering the lack of Strawhats anywhere, it does not look like the case.
How come I think this? Well, Sanji was assigned to guard Shirahoshi. The fact that she is now going with Jimbei means that he has been relieved of that duty (something that he would not easily give up, btw). Furthermore, if Shirahoshi is going, then the place Jimbei is headed to should be relatively safer. Now, as far as how the situation was resolved between Luffy and Jimbei, I bet we'll get a flashback soon enough. Even if Jimbei wants to stop Luffy, his crew will still try to rescue everyone. Well, looking forward to next week's episode, which will hopefully pick things up.

Well... regular people and soldiers too don't stand a chance against Hordy's pirates.
Attempts to save Neptune all ended up the same way. Wish Luffy and crew would move on from that island already. Don't like this arc that much. It's kinda darker than their other stories before.

Two things:
- In the manga the Kraken is also in the Plaza with them; - The distance between the Plaza and Mermaid Cove is about half the island (give or take), that's several KM between them. |

Well certainly seems like there is no one left but Luffy's crew and Jimbei to resolve this situation. The princes did a good job, but in the end they just couldn't keep up with those drugged up guys.
Does seem like Luffy either won or convinced Jimbei to let him go with the serious lack of any of the Strawhats before Jimbei left. So at least should be a relief that backup should be on its way as soon as the crew is freed. So far been smooth sailing for Hody's group.

Was that where the New Fishmen Pirates were at before? I probably am mistaken on this. I'm guessing that Decken will try to launch the whole ship into Fishmen Island in his attempt to destroy everything. However, I bet that Shirahoshi and her sea kings will get in the way.
