Okay, I freaking HATE the minigames, I hate it more than I hated Erika in Umineko EP5. Although I guess this hate is because I'm playing in my laptop and it doesn't have a mouse so playing using the touchpad sucks.
Argh, is there an option to disable these minigames?
Is there a way to extract the text like AGTH but for mac?
I also failed at the attack thing in the tutorial

K will take me a bit of time to write it but will post it in parts.
For the attack minigame,
You just need to move your mouse on a red spot during defence. I suggest slowing down mouse speed if you have any problems. You should get a sound effect when you get it.
For attack you need to click on the blue "blows", usually after 3 of them you can right click and a menu of cards will appear. Chose one asap. I think the idea is that if you make like 5 hits rapidly, you're going to have access to really high cards when you press right click and get better scores.
Also just to say, expect a story that's a lot closer to Baccano then Umineko. At least so far.

Story begins with Leo meeting Rose (falling from the sky) who is being chased by thugs in black, while the former is looking for pastas. Leo teases them about how they don't stand a chance against the cool guy and the first battle begins rapidly. Three thugs vs Leo. Leo wins easily but then meets Wayne who tells him to get away from Rose (he's Rose's bodyguard). After some introductions and some clarifications (tho Wayne remains unhappy) Leo asks Rose for pastas.
Intro begins (not going to get into that).
I'll say tho that to me the story feels much more like something from Baccano with a presentation that reminds me of "Green Fried Tomatoes".
Scene changes to Tokyo 2012. It is described as a mix of Eastern and Western cultures and races. Chinese, Filipinos, Indians, Americans and Europeans. Three official languages, Chinese, Japanese and English. Japanese language is gradually becoming obsolete.
Introduction of Julie, a japanese reporter "noob" who ends up being given a big story news by the Hong Kong Daily News (a major newspaper in that Japan). Flashback of her being callled to the office where she learns Jeanne Amakawa, the head of a Japanese mob, wishes to give a special scoop to them, but on the condition that the reporter be pure japanese. This is why she was chosen. We learn that Jeanne was the first head of the Japanese mafia group called Primavera. The newspapper believes she's going to give them dirt about various politicians considering her ties. Julie comments this is the first time of her life she has been grateful for her Japanese heritage.
Scene switches to Jeanne's mansion. She's greeted by men in black (having machine guns no less) who politely brings her to Jeanne's private quarters where she is left alone with her.
Julie is worrying about her first impression and very nervous. Jeanne starts laughing and we first see her. She's asking Julie to calm down and be called "Madam Jeanne". We learn Jeanne's real name is Amakawa Jun but that Jeanne was her "second name" she took on after the end of ww2. Japanese names were considered handicaps in post-WW2 Japan and so many took on new names.
Switch to club primavera, 1947.
"Beautiful women, beautiful clothes, beautiful songs being performed and beautiful lines of drink". Leo doesn't care he's eating pasta. He's asking for seconds to a giggling Rose. We learn Leo was in the army until recently. His boat sank while he was coming back home to Japan and tho he survived he got into some legal complications that resulted in his release only happening now. We learn the war ended three years earlier.
Richard is then introduced (not entirely sure his role but he seems something like Rose's second in command). He thanks Leo for saving Rose. We learn through Wayne that Alfred was behind it. They begin to talk about what Tokyo has became and that Leo hadn't seen it's changes yet. We learn that in April first 1944 a natural disaster destroyed Japan and ended the war. American and Chinese allied forces took over after. We meet Cyrus (another bodyguard of Rose) who gives Leo a lift back to the repatriation office. Rose tells Leo that he can come back to them if he has nowhere else to go. Wayne gets jealous.
Switch to 2012.
The interview begins, but Jeanns is the one asking questions. "Do you like Tokyo, as it is now?". We learn more or less what seems to be the typical view of that modern very cosmopolitan Tokyo. Japanese people are now a minority in Japan. Old people are saddened by it and the young people treat it as a positive thing (?). Jeanne wanted to leave a record of a Japanese person to another Japanese person before they become entirely obsolete.
Jeane begins with Tokyo in 1947.
Chapter 1 : Primavera (you see it as the headline of a newspaper article).
Leo is in the repatriation office complaining about the hard bed and how little money he got from the repatriation office. He needs a place to work and a place to live. He's being suggested to join the army but it doesn't interest him. Leo is hurt by how much Tokyo changed. Contemplating the need to find someone he used to know and a job, he opens up a map of Tokyo.

Most people there are outside, waiting for trucks that comes offering a job for a given salary for a given number of workers. Then many workers start to fight to get a place in the trucks no matter how bad and badly paid the jobs are. Leo gets inside. There are lines for Chinese people and others for American people but none for Japanese. Qualifications all requires speaking (fluently) one of the two language for any job worth it. Leo is like "Hold on isn't this Japan?". Basically Japanese people are all ruined so they don't really run any business anymore, and so don't hire. Foreign corporations from USA and China aren't interested in dealing with people who cannot speak their own language. Leo overhears someone saying that Japan should have stopped using Japanese long ago and that he resents his own language. Leo sarcastically says "If we knew we would've lost the war we should've done it". Leo gets back out. He considers his option (labor work or join the army).

Actually the city hall. Basically it turns out to be a recruitment center for the U.S. army. A Japanese soldier (of the US army) is promoting joining it. Lots of Japanese are asking him questions. Leo notices everyone is young (as the older people hates Americans and Chinese too much, having lost the war, to join them). Leo comments that tho the army can be alluring, for those who learned about it once, it's not tempting to live it again. Someone asks Leo if he wants to join. Leo is told that unless he wants to be recruited he should go the Employment Agency. Leo's seeing a lot of people filling forms to join. He comments on how being losers of the war, being absorbed by the victors is one way to live. "Only old people with pride won't be able to get over it". He sees other jobs being posted on a board. They all have low wages but nonetheless taken. Leo ends up leaving shrugging. A Chinese recruiter for their army begins to talk to him. He says Chinese army is much better then american army, that Asians got to stick together and that everyone's having a blast in it. Leo comments that japanese people now only are welcomed in the army.

His old town used to be a typical japanese working class town. Now it's concrete buildings crammed together and roads filled with cars. All the signs are in english. He says that it was basically entirely rebuilt from scratch so nothing's left beside the name, now written in english.
Leo enters a sort of resto bar. Begins to chat with a sort of cleck or it. We learn after the war a lot of people were put in reconstruction camps and then relocated elsewhere, where there was work for them. Apparently even the people of Leo's old town are all from somewhere else now. Apparently in the country side some places still look like traditional Japan. Leo realizes nearly everyone is american in the place, and even the japanese speak english. Everyone's gazing at him as if he's not in a place he's supposed to be so he leaves. Leo concludes he won't find the Japan he's looking for in his old town.
Leo couldn't find anything. No place to live, no work, no one he knows. Everywhere he looks he's seeing the reality of that post-war Japan where Japanese people have no more place and live lie beggars mostly - it makes Leo just too sad to witness it. He hears everyone complaining desperately about the situation around him. Rumor is that Japanese soldiers being recruited by Chinese and American army are used as cannon fodder. Japanese currency is now Japanese dollars. Chinese areas still use japanese currency however. Apparently some women still make a lot of money over prostitution which anger some men. Everyone ends up drinking their worries away with the little money they have left. Leo sarcastically comments on most issues being brought up. Ends up concluding again that he has the choice between labor work or the army.
Scene changes, Leo is heading back to the repatriation office when he gets attacked by thugs who want to steal his clothes and leftover money as he ponders over crime being a third choice.
Battle-2. Again three thugs vs Leo.
After Leo wins the thugs takes out their guns. Leo kicks a trash can on them and runs away. We learn after how much corruption and violence there was in Tokyo.
Scene changes to Julie/Jeanne.
Julie comments that the occupying force maintaining order wasn't perfect.
Jeanne asks if this is how history books teaches history. Uppon confirmation she starts laughing. She says that statistically crime was low only because nobody acted if the victims were Japanese. That made the result look good on paper and the Chinese and American forces competed to get it "good on paper".
Jeanne comments on how this was still their town and they wanted to live there nonetheless even if it meant bitting the dirt.
You have a score menu, can save (for the first time I think) and "go to next".
Spoiler for Warning part 3:
Two weeks later.
Leo is starting to lose hope. Repatriation office keeps pestering him to join the US army. Leo concludes he has to get over his own pride and that being in the army remains better then being homeless. He doesn't have much money left so he's thinking about wasting the leftover in party and then joining up the army. Heading toward Downtown he sees there are many others similar to him. Leo's thinking about going to the place with the most pretty girls if he's to drink anyway. He then sees the sign of Club Primavera again. He remembers Rose and thinks to himself that if he could have a drink with her he could probably move on after.
A car suddenly stops behind him. A girl from the club comes out of it, talking english to an American soldier. The girl (Stella, the long haired girl that I've seen some commenting to be a Rika of RGD but don't see it yet) greets Leo (calling him handsome and overall constantly hitting on him). She seems cautious at first when he claims to be one of Rose's friends and want to give her a message, but upon giving his name Stella's expression changes to become that of a fangirl meeting her star. Apparently Leo is now famous for how he saved Rosa and is a "stylish guy who's unbelievably good in a fight". She introduces herself to Leo and tells him Rose is a friend of her's.
When they come in Leo realizes there isn't a single customer, something is off. Claudia and other Ryuukishi drawn girls are seen (the others are nameless). They all seem worried.
Scene changes to Wayne/Rose arguing with Alfred inside the VIP room (introduction of Alfred and very creepy music begins to play). About 10 thugs accompany him. He's basically mocking them and threatening them into paying a protection taxe to him. Apparently Alfred has been ensuring all of Rose's bodyguards leaves her to force them into this situation. Only Wayne and Cyrus remains. Because Rose refuses him nonetheless the thugs start to trash the place, leaving the VIP room.
Leo : "Who's that guy with a fake foreign accent?"
Wayne begins to fight the thugs - he calls himself Mad Dog Wayne. Battle 3 - Wayne beats three of the thugs. Afterward Alfred tells his men to use their head and they take Rose hostage with a gun. The thugs begins to mercileslly beat on Wayne. Alfred threatens to beat Wayne to death if Rose doesn't accept. Rose gives up and says she'll give them the money but Alfred plays deaf ear. The suggestion there (not entirely clear) is that Rose is going to have to pay with her body atop of just money.
Leo saves the day. He twists the gun of the guy holding Rose hostage with incredible strenght and is implied to break the guy's arm in the process (at least I think so). Leo points the gun he got at the rest of the thugs, who points out to Alfred it's the guy who interferred the last time. Leo tells them that kids shouldn't be in an adult club.
At the point the door opens and "the cavalry" arrives (in the form of Meryl, first introduced, and Cyrus, holding guns, and other unnamed people). Alfred and cie raises their hands in surrender. Richard is also there. They tell Alfred off and not to get back, but he says that the more Rose acts like that the more he's falling in love with her.
[I just want to point out that Alfred tend to have a cat smile thing, which looks quite disturbing to me]
Meryl tells them she hopes they get hit by a car and die as they leave.
Everyone's checking if everyone's okay. Cyrus recognizes Leo. Wayne complains how Leo stole the spotlight while he put himself on the front line. Stella makes fun of him for it and pats his head which angers him even further. Richard thanks Leo for saving them again but Leo turns it down saying he's only here to steal the spotlight. Meryl tells him that there are a lot of rumors about him in the club. Leo asks if it's because of his five extra serving of pasta that he he ate.
Scene changes to something that I'm assuming to be Jeanne's narration.
Mentions that Alfred Akagi is the most dangerous person of City 23 1947 (the region of Tokyo where the story so far is set). As soon as reconstruction began, american mafia took over the construction industry. Gathering Japanese thugs they made a new mafia in city 23. Alfred was a top hitmen for them, but eventually he murdered the american boss and took over. Gradually he managed to achieve victory. In 1947 he was weakened but remained a major power. As he was opposing the american mafia, he needed a large ammount of money. That's why he put his sight on the prostitution of the city as a major source of income.
[Random but I can totally imagine Rose with Hinagiku's voice actress]
Scene changes back to Leo chatting with others. He's telling him how he's going to join the army cause he doesn't have any other choices. Meryl asks about his fighting skills and he says he learned them from his father who ran a dojo. Wayne inadvertedly brings up that no other bodyguard is needed leading to Leo actually becoming a bodyguard. Beside Wayne everyone is glad at the prospect (for Stella it's because of his looks). Leo joins on the condition to be allowed to eat Rose's handmade pasta once in awhile. After joining he's told he has to call Rose "Madam Rose", as she is the Madam of the Primavera.
Scene changes to Julie/Jeanne
Julie asks about Rose. Officially Madam Jeanne is the first Madam of the Primavera. Jeanne tells them that the truth is different and Rose was the first Madam. Jeanne only carried on her will. Rose's name is unknown because she wished it that way. The times made her a Madam but it wasn't in her nature to be part of the underworld. When she passed on her title she asked it to be that way. Nearly everyone from back then are now dead, including Rose. Jeanne wanted to bring that secret with her to the grave but ended up changing her mind. This is why she called Julie to interview her. She wants to pass down the untold story of Rose and the birth of the Primavera.
Spoiler for Warning part 4 (last):
Scene changes to thugs in one of Alfred's bar. They are pissed off. Alfred says how much he likes Rose (read: she pissed him off badly). They talk about attacking them while their number of bodyguards are low. "Bring me a bunch of the young ones". Alfred is shaking in rage but laughing.
Scene changes to Primavera. Rose is introducing Leo to the "ladies". All the girls seems to love him, Stella says she knows who to ask to remove her corset. Wayne looks depressed. He complains about Leo but Cyrus is making fun of him over it. Meryl tells Rose she has a phone call from Claudia. Something seems off about her according to Meryl.
In short it turns out she's been kidnapped by Alfred and he's using her as bait for Rose. His thugs tells Rose to come alone to a pub in an alley in 10 mins or else Claudia's going to pay the price. Before she can answer the thug hanged up the phone.
Richard wants to go instead but Rose refuses. Wayne (looking worried) tells her this is a trap. Everyone tries to get her not to go and says they'll go rescue Claudia themselves but Rose keeps refusing and ends up going. She asks the bodyguard to follow her and go save Claudia while she tries to buy time in negociations. Leo doesn't seem too happy about that either. Then Leo breaks the mood by saying they'll just earn their salaries and so there won't be any danger. Leo, Cyrus and Wayne goes with Rose.
Inside the car they use, Leo, Cyrus and Wayne talks. Cyrus and Leo overall takes things a lot more easily then Wayne and seem to be sort of instant friends. Rose is in front of the bar and starts to get inside. Cyrus tells Leo to go to the back of the bar, which he does. Wayne goes on his own to pretend being a bar patron.
Cyrus : "Ah, to be young"
Leo : "Don't want to let him die, he's so cute"
Rose enters the bar and there isn't anyone (we hear the creepy wind sounds that's typical of Ryuukishi). Thugs appear out of the shadows and gag and blindfold her, then threw her in the back of a truck waiting in the back of the bar. Truck leaves and almost hits Leo who's in the back himself. Wayne also enters the bar as a customer (disguise : hood). He also gets captured. They throw him handcuffed into another car in the back. The men get in the car and drive away. Leo having seen the whole, meets up with Cyrus and they begin to chase the car (the one who took Wayne away). Leo understood what happened and decides to chase the black car. They talk about how if Wayne hadn't been so reckless they might have lost Rose entirely, but thanks to being captured they'll probably go to the same place. "Better buy the kid some candies".
Switch to Rose being brought inside of a building where Claudia is held hostage. They force Rose to stay there while waiting for Alfred who is eating lunch. Rose tries to reassure Claudia and says their friends will rescue them (but actually reasons out the chances that they lost her is high). Rose is considering her options and if she could actually do something. The thugs are playing a game of cards and not paying much attention to her and so she says she has to try something.
Switch to Leo/Cyrus. Leo says they need to act now as there isn't enough cars parked around the building they reached, meaning that Alfred isn't there and there isn't many thugs yet. Cyrus goes in the back while Leo rings the doorbell.
Scene switch to Wayne. He's still angrily whining and complaining. The thugs talk about how glad they are to have captued Wayne as they'll be able to torture a man rather then Claudia, whom they really didn't want to hurt. Basically even while being tied up in a chair, Wayne managed to start beating the two thugs with him in pretty amazing ways. He says he died long ago and came back thanks to Rose - that he doesn't have a life to threaten. One of the thug takes out his gun and pointed it to Wayne's forehead. They ask him to apologize but he refuses. He even says if he dies it will be one less hostage for Rose to worry about. He urges them to press on the trigger… but Leo/Cyrus arrives and saves the day. Battle 4 begins (Leo and Cyrus vs two thugs). Wayne instantly begins to complain about how long it took them while they untie him. He then rush on his own to save Rose again. He goes outside and start to climb the staircase upstairs where they believe Rose is held.
Switch to Rose/Claudia who hears someone rushing up the stairs. Rose is happy to have her friends saving them but it turns out it's actually Alfred who appears, not Wayne. He was so exited he came back early and dashed to get to her. Wayne/Leo/Cyrus realizes that Rose isn't in this building. Battle 5 begins (Leo/Wayne/Cyrus vs two thugs). Wayne isn't able to get them to talk but Leo takes over. He just lift one of the thug with a single arm to the maximum reach of his arm and then throws him from the third floor through the window. Cyrus and Wayne are impressed but Leo says "I used to be pretty proud of my strenght, not so much these days". The remaining thug is overly scared but actually has no information. He says their boss doesn't give them any. The three of them seem lost as to what to do next.
Switch to Rose/Claudia again. Alfred's basically threatening Claudia to force Rose to agree. The situation forces Rose to accept even if she doesn't want to. Rose realizes that if she continues to resist she will put the safety of all the girls of the Primavera in danger. Alfred tells the thug to take Claudia away. Alone with Rose, he asks her to remove her clothes. Alfred then says he won't force her but if she refuses her friends might not be that nice with Claudia.
Switch to Meryl/Stella in front of the Primavera. A random man arrives with a piece of papper folded into an airplane that he found with a message telling him to give this to the Primavera for a reward. It contains the information about where Rose is. As they figure out exactly where she is, they get a phone call from Cyrus. Basically finding out Rose is right across the street. Leo is beating up the remaining thugs to get more information as they prepare to leave.
Switch to Rose, where she ends up agreeing to take off her clothes. She reasons out loud that she knew that as a women of the night she'd have to expose her skin to a man eventually, but not like this. [Amazing how innocent she is considering she runs such a place that she never exposed her skin to a man once? wtf] As she is about to start, the phone rings. Alfred is annoyed as he picks up the phone.
"Excuse me can I get a pizza?"
Leo is saying nonsense on the phone and warns Alfred that he'll be there in a second.
TRAILER END
In the "next" preview (a newspaper page) we see various pictures, one of them being of that Battler-like guy.
Is there a way to extract the text like AGTH but for mac?
Unfortunately, I don't know of any application similar to AGTH for Mac.

You haven't been able to unzip the RAR file at all? Maybe try downloading the file again (the file may have been corrupted) or use a different application. I use The Unarchiver.
I tested the RAR myself and it works on my system…
Okay, thanks to sucking at the game I couldn't even get past the start of the story but I already took a peek at the arc.nsa. Strangely enough, all characters have sprites separeted in body and head like in Higanbana, except for Wayne and Meryl, whose sprites are "full body" (like the Umineko and Higurashi sprites). I also couldn't find Philip's sprites so I take it he's not in the game?
Downloaded it again but received the same message. I tried extracting it with Stufftl but got this:

Completed it now. I doubt I'll do this again, I'm not really in favor of spoiling the story. However this is something really new and I hope I managed to give people an idea of what to expect before deciding to order the game or not, and if you actually want to follow the story from that point on.
Personally I'd say this breath of fresh air from Ryuukishi is just what I needed. But I am relatively afraid some people expecting something like Umineko/Higurashi are going to be quite disappointed. Am relatively curious as to how an American or a Chinese person would react to this setting. On a personal level the setting is very similar to my own reality, tho much more dramatic. Perhaps that influence a lot how much I enjoy the whole.
