Spoiler for Ep 8-9 English Dub Review:

By this point, I like everyone now, though Jeannie and Apphia have been kind of underwhelming as of late, but they are pretty consistent at voicing their characters, so they get a pass.

If given enough roles, Michelle Rojas has the potential to be the go-to English voice actress for tough, deep-voiced, Erza Scarlet-like characters, at par with names like Colleen Clinkenbeard or Shelley Calene-Black.

Anyways, who do you pick as Chika's mom in the English dub: Hillary Haag, Tia Ballard, Wendee Lee, or anyone else?

Oh yeah, I'm loving ALL of the English voices now. The cast and everyone involved with the English localization has done such a good job so far with this series. I absolutely will buy the series preorder it day zero early access 48 hours real talk. And I also can't fuckin wait for STEWSHINE! It sounds like dish detergent. xD

Spoiler for Episode 10 Eng Dub Review:

My LLSS Eng VA Rankings so far:

Jad = Jamie = Garrett > Sarah > Megan = Jeannie = Michelle > Apphia > Berry

Berry dropped down hard for me because I'm just not getting used to Yoshiko's raspy voice anymore, though she sounds just fine as Yohane. I am starting to miss Aikyan's fast-changing voices as Yoshiko and Yohane. I have a feeling that Yohane is Berry natural voice but not Yoshiko, kind of similar to how some fans think Kotori isn't really Aya Uchida's natural voice, which is probably why she keeps carrying a water bottle with her every live and probably every recording session as well. Ucchi just says she just likes water, but we never know.

Truth is, she likes to drink, a lot. And it's just not water. Some of her twitter post after a few beers are hilarious.

Not really. Maybe I'm just more used to Berry's Yohane and Aikyan in Yoshiko and Yohane modes.

My goodness, LLSS experimented with a chuunibyou character as a school idol and holy cow did it work. I was never expecting that to be THAT successful. Mad props to LL, Lantis, Sunrise, Funi, Aikyan and Berry.

Speaking of Kotori, the one thing that impressed me with the OG dub is how Cristina Vee was able to maintain Kotori's high pitch as well as Ucchi did, and this was considering Valenzuela was hyped to be cast as Umi, but it turned out Kira Buckland did a better Umi than I expected. Buckland's (and to some extent Mimorin's) Umi was basically Kuroyukihime from Accel World if she was into Archery and School Idols.

Strange, are the seiyuu not as popular here as anywhere else? I'd have thought there would be at least one mention of Rikyako's breakdown during the first live, but guess not.

Jad is my co-MVP with Jamie for Episode 8, while Jamie is my co-MVP with Michelle Rojas for Episode 9. It seems to me that they are really enjoying what they are doing. Jad's Chika is as close to Anju Inami's Chika as it can get. Besides that cheerful perky voice, both delivered on Chika's emotional moments in Episode 8 and her awesome moments in Episode 9 (a second year telling off three freaking third years). I took Jamie's emotional performance with Michelle in Episode 8 as a sign of good things to come. And BOY they did deliver in Episode 9. Jamie and Michelle went all out and delivered Mari's super emotional moments and Kanan's tranquil fury and sadness. [++++=] Sarah Wiedenheft, as always, shows us how Moe Moe is done in English with Ruby. Megan Shipman's ZURA's can't be beat. Morgan Berry's Yohane is kind of on and off lately, but still good overall. [++++=] BEHOLD, FALLEN ANGEL PHOENIX HOLD! [+++==] For some reason, freshman Dia sounds A LOT like Morgan Berry's Yohane. Maybe it's just me not getting used to Morgan Garrett with a high pitch. [+++==] Jeannie Tirado and Apphia Yu have been pretty consistent at voicing Riko and You. Expect them, especially Apphia, to be put to the test in the next episodes. THE NOT [++===] NO PIGII. Sarah just blurts out a "Weeeehhh?" [+====] "It was not a request," is so meh. "IS THAT CLEAR?!" works better, but I don't think it fits Chika's character. Episode Scores: 4.5/5 for both Episodes 8 and 9 Overall Score: 4/5. The Sunshine English dub is as good as it gets right now. It's not perfect, but I would recommend this for people who just started out with Anime in general and cannot read English subtitles fast enough yet to comprehend the Japanese dubs. Morgan Garrett really delivered this episode! Chika is really getting a lesson at leading a school idol group to victory in LL this ep. Bonus points for convincing me that Morgan Garrett is a versatile voice actress who is just as good at voicing tough badass females like Kaori Kanzaki from Index as voicing super bubbly yet domineering FGM Dia. I think she has the potential to become a top-tier seiyuu in the future if she isn't already, just give her a few more big roles and she will come around. [+++++] OMG!!! THEY KEPT THE STEWSHINE!!! OMG!!! faints Woolseyisms abound this ep. They had Dia scream "DO YOU WANT TO SEND US ALL TO THE HOSPITAL TONIGHT?!?" at Yohane over the Tears of a Fallen Angel, and Chika's freak-out after Mito was pissed at Dia's epic freakout over Mari's fake eyes done a little bit differently but still great. [+++++] Goodness, Funi went through with the lesbian subtext of Riko's "confession" in the Japanese dub and managed to hide it from the Moral Guardians at the same time! This is more than enough proof why Funi's English dubs are THE BEST IN THE WORLD (!), with prolly Viz at distant second. [++++=] Never heard of Jamie's random Italian with Mari in a while, and it's enough for me to make up for whatever Engrish from the Japanese dub that was left out in this ep. They could have peppered Mari's Engrish with even more random Italian, but eh, what the heck. "Delicioso!" THE NOT [++++=] Asides from those written out Engrish by Mari and a slightly different freak-out by Chika, I really cannot complain about anything else this ep. Episode MVP: Morgan Garrett as Dia. FGM Dia Epic Comeback Delivered. This alone removed any of my doubts about her versatility. Not yet up there in range, though she does sound like Morgan Berry at times, but she will eventually come around in the future. Episode Score: 5/5. Everyone is great this ep, and I believe Apphia Yu (and ofc Jamie Marchi) will make a glorious comeback next ep with You's arc incoming. WITH THE FAIYAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Overall Score: 4.5/5. Still waiting for the Yousoro Arc and the LL Prelims Arc for my final rating, though I have a feeling both arcs will be great, especially for the second years' seiyuu (Jad, Jeannie, and Apphia).
