Dude, the original maker of the games made them so he could take advantage of the 3DS! Meaning showing tits and ass in 3d. He just so happened to come up with the winning formula and was so honest with what he wanted that the games being good and popular was the best thing that happened to him.

And I both respect and understand that. But for me, the whole "ninja magical girl" aspect actually managed to override the fanservice. There wasn't even that much nudity. Lots of underwear, sure, but the first episode wasn't quite what I was expecting it to be - but I still loved what I saw. Maybe future episodes will be more blatantly fanservicey, I don't know. But right now, what I'm getting out of this series is completely different from expected... but still valid.

I'll tell you what's pointless, and it's censoring pantsu. I mean come on, why? I was there when Girl's Bravo aired censored, and like many others I was baffled. And that's a part of the reason why I can't complain anymore, Senran Kagura wasn't censored for this first ep, and I'm glad for that. Meanwhile, censoring has come a long way since GB, and they leveled up from fog, to shadows, to beams of light. It's because of those beams I had to put off To-Love ru last season, and for the first time in my life I had to become a BD watcher. The first time in my bloody long life, man
I totally feel the same way tron, couldn't say it better myself. If fanservice is there I'm just happy to see it.

So, the ecchi fanservice show of the season. Maybe. I guess.

I've been following the manga series but to be honest the only one which really caught my attention was the prequel series about Ikaruga and Katsuragi. While I guess the ninja action plot is serviceable thus far I've found it kind of shallow. In the end it's the characters which I care about, but I'm not confident yet Senran Kagura will deliver.

Like, put Senran Kagura on a scale between Queen's Blade and Strike Witches, maybe. Queen's Blade being pure action and fanservice. And Strike Witches being action + fanservice + real, meaningful character development. For me, Senran Kagura could go either way right now, but I really hope it could move me at least as much as Strike Witches.

I'll be keeping my eye out for Ikaruga/Katsuragi, as well as Asuka/Homura this season. While nearly any lighthearted yuri series is guaranteed to get more than 5/5 enjoyment rankings out of me, if Senran Kagura can't prove it's more than fanservice it might stay stuck in the world of realistic/fair judgements.

Well, I now understand why some anime do not need doujinshi to become interesting to watch

In between, I still haven't watched it

Nah, doujinshi work better IMHO when exploring a what-if, shows that have too much ecchi, but no plot or character development, offer no such opportunities, and their doujinshi end up being your usual porn with a random plot for LULZ.

There are more efficient methods for that with the added benefit of being socially acceptable despite their obvious profanity

Doujin is good when your imagination is limited.
I don't really need them when I myself could write a whole fanfic for the character I like.

Watching it now... first of all, it reminded me not being able to pass through Kaminari gate, and giving up Tokyo Sky Tree because of another huge line... during that visit to Asakusa I had to stick with my B-list, should I have watched this episode before, I might have been more motivated

Now onto the ecchi part... sometimes I pity those VAs, having to say: "I will try my best old man" before opening your mouth wide open to eat a... temaki

Yeah, well that was just the start of it

EDIT (after watching it): It wasn't as bad as I expected, had its funny moments, had some interesting to watch action, has backgrounds from places I have been and wanted to be last week, and the best tranformation sequence ever... Katsuragi unbuttoning her shirt... yeah that's all for this magic ninja girl

Even if you can imagine, doujinshis can be "helpful"! (ヽ´ω`)b

I usually like fanservice series but I just cant watch this for some reason.

It was really painfull.

Maybe if they had some teenage male characters and a love interest.
