Actually, since I just realize it from that DLC...
Spoiler for Spoiler for Fallout 3: New Vegas:
Edit: I really need time to type out Dream Catcher.... because the concept of the original machine turn out really great (errr..... not the aliens because they are supposed to be bizarre and overtech)

The latter seems to be a good option if I'm being idealistic. From cynical POV, that sounds like running away from your own self, but if the world is that bad, I'm probably choosing B anyway.

The lack of memory can be even more torturing(aka angsty)... and confusing when the past catch up with you. Edit: How can you have a clear mind when you have so many doubts about the things in your past?

As I said, the family's dead. You're choosing to remember them only because you want to, but doing so causes you to remain muddled and confused. Forgetting them is sad, but it does clear your mind. I'm wondering which is better. o, let me rephrase that: I'm wondering which sucks less.

The character's background, personal value and personality come into play.
Some character will feel the former is better while some felt the latter is better. There is no right answer (as in both suxs equally) because it's only in term of perceptive Quote:

@ Eras
What Age said, which one suck less is depending on situation. Remember the Yoshi incident? It could get worse had he not getting amnesia. On the other hand, he lost access to his precious family for real. @ Demi Definitely if Ichika's in danger.

I partially disagree with Zero.
Ichika can be forced into a date...but without he knowing that it is a date. (Usually because he is indirectly being forced by the girls in a very roundabout way.)

Maybe, if Chifuyu was drinking (not necessarily drunk).
reference: Chapter 4 Volume 4 @ Age Chifuyu knew when to fold and pay attention. She don't let Ichika get a room by himself during the seaside school, knowing well what kind of 'danger' put upon him. But she let the harem stay in their house just fine.

Well, that's how I perceive it, but indeed she was concerned more about her loose mouth (coincidentally, she WAS drinking as well during that moment).
So, maybe SLIGHTLY open rather than weak and vulnerable.
