I'd say April, if they stick with their 6 month release schedule.

Hardcover is $15 MSRP, softcover is $9 MSRP. The manga are $11 MSRP. You can easily get them at a good discount at various places, such as rightstuf.

I'm depressed. It doesn't look like Haruhi will ever get novel 10 and beyond released.

There's actually a five months gap between the release of the first two books. We might have Boredom in March.

The manga is already up to Snowy Mountain Syndrome. At this rate the manga will overtake the novels before we see "The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya".

Wouldn't the manga just stop once they got to the most recent novel?

The manga does original stories, too, if I'm not mistaken.

Anything of note? I've always heard the manga isn't very good.

You're going to have to ask someone else that one. I never really followed it, so I'm basically going by what I've seen here.

The manga didn't start out good. It got better. The one original story I read was actually pretty decent.

The one before Bamboo Leaf Rapsody? That was a good one; made BLR seem less spontaneous.

Hmm, maybe I'll get around to picking up the official manga volumes someday. There's only, what, 3 or for 4 out/scheduled to be out so far?

As a Haruhi fan, I'm quite pleased!

...As a Shana fan, I'm quite disappointed...

Man, Shana isn't selling well.

Oh well... Nice to see Haruhi dominating this section, and even beating out most of what Vampire Hunter D is offering up. However, as opposed to ratings, I'd be more interested in seeing absolute sales figures (i.e. how many copies of the light novel have been sold).

Triple, actual sales data is only given to the Publisher, and its not usually given to the public sadly.

Also, don't feel terribly sad about Shana. Remember that its in the TOP 25 (out of A HUGE PILE of Light Novels that got released here). So it's actually somewhat good. It beat a lot of other light novels, I mean, a HUGE AMMOUNT. lol

So...can we assume the idea to stock the novel in with the teen section actually was a somewhat prudent move on the publishers part?

That's good to know. And, I just read some of the editorial at that link... the Haruhi light novel is beating out one of the FMA mangas.

Wow... now that's an accomplishment!

This could be great news for light novels, yeah. I'm very enthused about this... I think that light novels are a good way to get people into books who are frightened off by the sheer volume of, say, your typical Harry Potter book.

Oh, hell yes.

The Haruhi novels read like school-based sci-fi for kids and teens. It really does! I get nostalgic over novels I read in school a decade and a half ago, almost every time I read some of the Haruhi novels on-line.

Haruhi anime fans that are...

1) Interested in reading the source material

2) Willing to fork out cash to do it/own it

...would pick it up anyway. Even if adult Haruhi fans feel a bit strange going into the teenager section to get it, they'll do it - or maybe get a younger relative to do it for them, lol.

By putting it in the teen section, it's been put in the section for the demographic that I'm pretty sure will appreciate it the most.

Well, yes, and no. lol

Haruhi's hardcover is at #2. The hardcover was stocked in the Manga section.

The softcover which is at #4 was stocked in the teen section.

Still excellent. But I think it proved that Haruhi has a huge fanbase, AND, it's got a growing new one on the way. lol Well, maybe it didn't prove the latter, but we can always hope, ne?

If anything, it proves that releasing a manga cover version and a normal mass product cover version was a successful idea.

As I posted in the other topic when I brought the B&N rankings up, this blog is so horribly biased it's not even funny. Not once did the blogger make mention of the fact that the rankings are based on a rolling 6 month sale period. But, I guess that would've made the results seem less important, thus defeating what he wanted to accomplish.

Yellow journalism at its finest!

Wow, so a book that's been out since April has more sales than a book that technically doesn't come out until next week. 5 months worth of sales versus negative 8 days. As I said before, that blogger leaves out a LOT of necessary information.
