Ha-ha! Very good options all around.

That being said, as neither of them are on the run or having to pretend to be dead or anything, will we see a conclusion between Suzaku and Tohdoh? I seem to remember canon had it that Tohdoh was one of the few who intellectually understood Suzaku's motivations, even though he did not agree with them and wouldn't let their past get in the way if they faced one another on the battlefield. I'm not looking for any kind of reconciliation, just a sequence where they meet and, given that they are no longer required to fight or try to arrest the other, they've no excuse not to talk about all that's gone before them.

I remember the sitcom NEWSRADIO, where one of the characters had decided to experiment with a moustache. As a test case, he showed his new accessory to the ladies of the office as a group. Their reaction? Two of them immediately were loudly and vocally repulsed while the third -- the token sassy black woman -- responded by slapping him*.

* Of course, the character was played by Andy Dick, who needs to be slapped -- if not shot at -- more often.

No, in my story they can't have a reconciliation.

Because with his useless idea to become a britannian citizen to change britannia from inside, Suzaku betrayed what his father and Tohdou teached him.

For the japanese honor, when Suzaku used the fleija, he totally disown the samurai code, without a turn-back option.

Tohdou is that kind of person turned stupid cause the bushido and that other stuff, however everyone in his squad were fanatics.

So Toudou will attempt to kill Lelouch? While I don't totally understand the code of Bushido, I do know that he will have to kill either Lelouch to regain his honor, right?

Well, for a real samurai to fight unfair is a crime, to protect weak people is a duty, total obedience for their master, a single error is a so big shame the suicide is the only option to clean own honor.
Like the fact to kill their enemy or their master's enemy is their great duty and the only way to stabilize order and justice.
In the samurai code, the word "surrender" not exist.

Cause this "insane" one direction life code, a compatibilty between black knight and Lelouch is impossible.

Cause all the errors they did after betray Lelouch, black knights fall into disgrace, they evaded a trial just thanks Kaguya and a little benefit of the doubt.

Tohdou and Nagisa weren't happy to be inspector and keep Lelouch under control, but this happened because Nagisa spoke too much in the past.

So, Lelouch must live without make a single error or nothing of suspicious, otherwise the mercy he had will gone.

The two ex black knight wait for it.

So the price of a world without the Zero Requiem is that Tohdoh never realizes Lelouch's true intentions, and instead continues to believe he was like his father the Emperor, using everyone as pawns in his grab for power?

Well, in Tohdou's mind, zero used them, after, when Lelouch becomed emperor, all the performance during the conference (when lelouch stabbed his own eye)....
The black knights uncovered the truth after the final battle, for Tohdou Lelouch tried to ask sorry for the past events with new lies.
For them Kallen changed flag just because she was too much "lost" cause love feelings, and Nagisa told to everyone Kallen is a traitor.

With few words, Nunnally and Kaguya understand Lelouch will never be the same person of before and they trust Kallen.
Instead Tohdou not, for a sort of psychosis, like Ougi when he wanted to know zero real identity at all costs.
Kaguya ordered to Tohdou and Nagisa to become inspectors because tired of his annoy obsession.

Tohdou is too much stubborn to see that Lelouch/zero not exist anymore, Nagisa has the same idea, but she's more satisfied because it was a good pretext to marry Kyoshiro.

While there were an actual number of betrayals -- *cough* Villetta *cough cough* -- most struck me as people just being pissed that someone else was doing things the way they thought were best, which was detrimental to their own plans.

I've a horrible mental image of Tohdoh raising his kids to follow Lelouch and Kallen's kids around, and further on.

Well, the reality is a little...different.
In japan there're few birth but for a different motivation in comparison here where the first cause is not enough money.

In japan they make few children because to grow them is a big responsability of time and a obstacle for to work.
Before the job and after the family, Tohdou is one of them.
In tons of anime is shown always a/more teen live without parents for days and days because they're out for work etc...then neglected, it's a not rare reality in japan.

At last, when Lelouch and Kallen are married and the surveillance is quit, Nagisa says goodbye hoping finally to make something about the family now the job is close.

Hmmmm. I've a feeling Chiba is going to learn that having is not so good a thing as wanting.

And yes, that is a STAR TREK quote.

I saw Tohdoh there with all the cliched "spying detective" accessories (minus the fedora hat, of course), and started hearing the refrain in my head.
