Robot Combat
With the welcome return of Robot Wars and apparently no thread on the subject here, now seems as good a time as any to start a discussion thread on the topic of robot combat. Slight overlap with science and technology, but if there is a problem it can be moved.
This thread is for discussions concerning the sport and hobby of robot combat, competitions both televised (such as Robot Wars and Battlebots) and non-televised, competitors, and other similar roboteering subjects. Edit: Really enjoyed the final tonight. Last edited by Inept Forum User; 2016-08-28 at 19:46. Reason: Adding a little bit regarding earlier. |

The new series of Robot Wars is off to a good start. A few changes and improvements, still as fun as ever.
Spoiler for Heat A, Minor Spoilers:
Another series of Robot Wars has already been announced, to be filmed in May, this time with both Heavyweights and Featherweights. No word yet regarding Battlebots. Out of curiosity, how's Japan with regards to heavyweight Robot Combat? Edit (13/03/2017): Heat B aired last night. There are a few things to say, but at the moment I'm too cross at the news to say them. Edit (15/04/2017): The Grand Final airs tomorrow, having been delayed a week due to golf. This series has been the most destructive one so far and looks like it has been the most gruelling for a fair few of the roboteers. There have been a few problems (some internal, which can hopefully be rectified in the future, and some external - I was quite cross at the media and net stuff after the incident in Heat B), but it has been a good series.
