Looks like Mission: Yozakura Family is getting the anime adaptation, from this week's Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine.

Plot Synopsis

High school student Taiyou Asano has been socially inept ever since his family died in a car crash. The only person he can properly interact with is his childhood friend, Mutsumi Yozakura—the head of the world's strongest family of spies. Mutsumi's eldest brother, Kyouichirou Yozakura, has been overprotective of her ever since he once rendered her severely injured. His love for Mutsumi is lethal, and Taiyou is his next target. To survive, Taiyou must marry Mutsumi and become a member of the Yozakura family. Thrown headfirst into chaos, Taiyou begins his journey to become a powerful spy in order to protect his wife and uncover the dark secrets of his past and the Yozakura family.

Knew this would get animated eventually. Good for it. A nice series overall. Should get some nice action out of it and I do like Taiyou and Mutsumi (along with her family).

Will enjoy seeing how it turns out.

Kind of an odd one for WSJ, was kind of on a tightrope between anime adaptation and cancellation. I suspect this will be one of their low-budget adaptation jobs.

Not surprised this series got an anime. Whenever I read this series, I always got a bit of a Katekyo Hitman Reborn vibe from it and that manga/anime was seriously underrated.

Was kind of hoping it'd be more a mid to late 2023 show, but that's fine. Should be good. Always fun also to go from just seeing the black/white images in a manga and then suddenly getting hit by the anime promo images. Oh right, that's what the main characters look like

.

On that note, Mutsumi is looking extremely lovely

.

Silver Link can certainly handle this kind of thing. They can handle action. Though sometimes I feel it can be a bit hit/miss with them. But they are a solid choice for it.

Taiyo Asano (Reiji Kawashima!) lost his entire family, he lost everything, but he always had his childhood friend Mutsumi (Kaede Hondo!) who would never abandon him and would always be there for him no matter how much he closed himself emotionally. And even if he still isn't over his parents' death, and can't really connect with people, at least he has Mutsumi

Of course then the vice-principal voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi comes in and is totally obsessed with Mutsumi...like to stalker levels...though it's less because he's a full-blown stalker and more because he's actually her obsessive big brother Kyoichiro. Not that it makes him any less of a creep. And this creep is about to turn his absolute brocon and OP spy skills on Taiyo, no longer feeling like he has any place by Mutsumi's side

.

Luckily there's the rest of the Yozakura Family voiced by an all-star cast and with plenty of spy skills! Like the fighter Futaba (Akari Kito!), the gadget and weapons guy Shinzo (Kazuyuki Okitsu!), the hacker Shion (Akari Kito!), the master of disguise Kengo (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka!), and the softhearted mad scientist Nanao (Yumi Uchiyama)! Not to mention their cute little dog Goliath

.

The Yozakura Family may be a dangerous and often feisty family of spies, but despite their constant sibling quarrels with Kyoichiro, they have a family creed of never killing a family member. So why not just have Taiyo marry Mutsumi? But does Taiyo want to marry Mutsumi and open himself up to having a family again? And does Mutsumi want to put that pressure on Taiyo

Not that Kyoichiro gives them a lot of time to dwell on it as he jumps in and starts making a mess and man-handling his family

For some reason Mutsumi pulling that Taiyou mask off with her long hair was funnier to me than it should have been

Wow, Kyoichiro is willing to cut Mutsumi off from everything because of his obsessive need to protect you (feeling responsible for something so severe that part of her hair turned permanently white), but Taiyo can't abide by that...and so he braves Kyoichiro's steel wires to marry Mutsumi and be there for her like she has for them, beginning their new lives as husband and wife with Taiyo now a Yozakura

Kyoichiro is really messed up. I don't know if I can stand him enough to follow this.

I'm going to give it a couple of chapters since I like futaba.

Especially when it came down to it both were just trying to express their own feelings for each other by trying to be considerate of each others' feelings, even if deep down they weren't against getting married.

Aah yes, I read the manga a while back and it felt like Reborn! + Spy x Family and the first episode did not disappoint.

Solid first episode.

Kind of remembering why I enjoyed the early parts of this story. I think things played out as they should in this episode. Having him hesitate early on is fine. Because if getting over trauma was that easy he would have done it by now. Plus getting thrown into an utterly insane situation like supernatural spies would have anyone's brain chugging along a bit slower. And besides, because Mutsumi was an important friend he couldn't simply go ahead and marry her without a second thought. Dragging her into that just to protect him probably wouldn't feel right.

And in terms of timing it's nice that it allowed Taiju to really take in the depth of Mutsumi's feelings. And when he did decide to make a move there wasn't much hesitation there. He even went pretty seriously into it with getting his hand all cut up in order to grab the ring.

It's wild to see the characters colored and in animation. That Futaba really is just a ball of pure white never quite hit me while reading.

Will be nice to sit back and enjoy this one.

Well, I think it is Jump anyways, since her family is filled with absurd circus performers. And yes, I checked afterwards to see that it is indeed Jump, but I kinda figured that myself before then Not much to say right now. If he's gonna put on the ring as a last resort, they should have just done it in the first place.
