Judging by sinopis, MC and his friends are playing some E-sports game to get money to save his family business (a local gaming club).

Crickets, eh? Not surprising, but I thought the premiere was pretty decent. Good staff on this one.

Oh, no wonder I couldn't find the thread. CR has the show listed as Protocol: Rain.

Anyway an enjoyable episode. While I don't like playing FPS games, they are kind of fun to watch.

Watched up to episode 4.
Don't understand what happened. The game format is a set the bomb/disarm counterstrike style. First to 7 wins.

Shuns team is defending first and loses 5 in a row, at which point, they switch sides. They're now attacking, and it fits their style better so they win 5 in a row....

And which point, they don't switch sides and they just stay attacking for two more games in a row and make a comeback winning 7 in a row.

The protagonist is worn out by non-stopping working. He doesn't have capacity to realize he is involved in a love triangle. To keep the story going for viewers, a FPS show needs some romantic development.

I jokingly thought to myself early on in this episode that Mio was becoming a yandere. She was getting pretty intense with Shun during the "shirt stain" scene, but within the parameters of what could be reasonable for an emotionally charged situation with family, I guess. But then the post-credits scene happened, and... yeah, I guess she actually is a yandere imouto. It's like I'm really watching a 2005-2012ish anime.

This show got hard ignored by people, I guess I'm one of the few still watching. Because it's an actual e-sports anime.

The way the game is portrayed is fairly realistic, but the scene? Not so much. E-sports is made to look like a big deal in Japan. People involved in the scene are somehow actually making money? Japan seems highly competitive internationally, and foreign players are even staying in Japan for e-sports. Girls are into the FPS almost as passionately as guys. This is all fantasy.

Gaming isn't exactly glorified in the show, but the main characters' challenges mainly come in the form of personal life drama. For the first e-sports anime, I would've liked if the drama was more about just trying to make it in the scene. And the characters are all two-dimensional trope bags, not a lot going on there, and I guess that's why the anime fell flat. Pity
