Not sure which part you are talking about, the sword thickness or the missing hand guard. If you are missing the hand guard, that one can be clearly seen at time stamp mentioned above.
Also, not all rapiers are basically look like flexible antennas. Some of them do indeed have a wider blade.

While longswords with hand guards do exist, they are comparably rare. The biggest hint towards it being a rapier though is the way Goblin Paladin is using it, as most of his attack are piercing strikes. The one slash we do see him make honestly looks more like an attempt to parry rather than a strike that could have wounded GS trough a plate.

Last but not least, I also think that the likelihood of a Japanese author knowing about rare longsword variants isn't thart high, and most spellblades also use rapiers.

Lucky break for the girl that they wanted to use her for a ritual instead of anything else. Took enough time for the main cast to safely reach her. I guess she can be safely chewed out for her stupid stunt without it being a case of laying into her too much.

That should do it and there shouldn't be any need to go deeper. But I guess we'll see if anything unexpected happens.

As usual the GS crew and Hero party are indirectly interacting as they take care of different things. Thankfully that rain of goblins interacting with that weird monster didn't cause any trouble. Still well within a safe level of strength to defeat.

Something unexpected HAS to happen with them ending the episode so abruptly immediately at the point of saving her from the goblins. There's no way they just cut like that just to waltz out like normal and head back to town.

That monster looked like a bunch of mutated goblins slapped together in one chimera. Reminded me of Hell-Pit Abominations from Warhammer fantasy in this regard.

This episode starts Volume 8, Interlude, and goes to near the end of Chapter 8:

Dwarf Shaman used the Tail Wind Spell to get the horses to move faster and make up the time difference between the attack in the morning and when they reached the Dungeon.
As he explains it, Dwarves aren't the best at using Wind Spirits but they need to be acquainted with all four of the great spirits (Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth) in order to turn earth into iron.
The reason the plan was sloppy, in Goblin Slayer's mind, was because it relied on chance. The Princess they needed just so happened to run away from home, happened to travel north on the main highway, and happened to wander into her captive's waiting hands. If they were targeting her intentionally that was way too lucky.
Along their way to the Dungeon, they run across some Goblins who got caught up in the looting and fell behind the rest of the group. Killing them didn't take long but they did push their horses to the point they had to slow down and didn't arrive until the next day using a forced march. Both they and the horses were exhausted.
Goblin Slayer creates a makeshift Telescope by rolling a piece of leather into a cylinder shape, tying it up with rope, and placing two disc-shaped crystals at the ends.
Dwarves also don't usually learn offensive spells.
Goblin Slayer references climbing a tower from the outside without a rope, which was a quest he took with Heavy Warrior and Spearman. The anime skipped that volume.
The elevator was one that led from the First Floor to the Fourth, allowing them to bypass the Second and Third Floor. The Goblins on that floor were using poisonous weapons, as per usual.
The Goblins had beaten Princess even though they didn't violate her, tying her up with the torn remains of her borrowed vestments. However, she didn't plead for forgiveness or anything because she didn't want to sink so low and it wouldn't do any good. She was under no illusion that she was a dead woman if a miracle didn't occur, and she started seeing her dead parents and brother's face flash in her mind.
Priestess' Purify swept away the miasma as they entered the Fourth Floor, which had been a choking fog. She also received a handout (basically a revelation) from her Goddess that told her that it was a Goblin Priest, not a Shaman, acting as an Apostle to the heinous gods of Chaos.
Since they knew very well how hard it was to break a Protection spell, they opted to take out the archers and attack hand-to-hand instead of sniping the Goblin Priest.
Priestess figured out that the Goblin wasn't offering a portion of his soul in the same way a normal priest would for a miracle, meaning that the price had to come from something else. Then she saw the blood coming from the corpses and realized it was being used as fuel, defiling the Adventurers they'd taken even after they had died.

I'm going to assume a lot of this is on the animation team. I mean, when they were in that hallway they had all the time in the world to talk, plan, casually toss oil and a torch on a group, JUMP OVER that flaming pile, and then... waste a Gate spell on like 5 stragglers? There's no way that's how things went down, at least in those numbers, in the novel.

One thing I suddenly noticed. Nobody ever wins alone in this show. Outside of the introductory episode, they always win as a team. With a plan, no less.

Takes me back to that feeling of overcoming a difficult encounter in D&D.

it wasn't a bad season, of course it could've been better. Those first chapters with the wizard boy were a chore but after that it wasn't that bad.

7/10. Last chapter was good and I loved to see the sword maiden showing off.

Lots of goblins were killed this season, so I guess the show did its job? Very shitty animation and first half though.

I laughed really hard when Priestess ignored the princess in order to get her chainmail, and only then consoled her. Being a Priestess and all, you'd think she would value life over worldly possessions...

Ugh... I hate to say it, but the anime did them dirty this episode as I got through the Light Novel for this part.

To summarize my review, I will admit I am not as hyped as I was for the first one. The content itself isn't bad, though considering how much cut content I have to write about I'm not happy important things get snipped, but I really felt the budget. Especially those still shots as they climbed to the top of the Dungeon.

There's no way to exclaim just how lacking the animation for this season was compared to the first season. Not to mention the scenes don't highlight the epicness of the LN (this last battle especially in the bottom section), so it feels lackluster. It wasn't unwatchable, but as a fan, I grieve the quality and wish we got better than we did.

I sincerely doubt we will be getting a Season Three, even if there are enough materials for it. So this is what people are going to remember it for in the end. And that saddens me because the world of Goblin Slayer is an interesting take from the eyes of one who hunts the weakest monsters.

And now for the cut content. Strap yourselves in, this is going to be a long one as this episode starts in the middle of Volume 8, Chapter 8, and wraps up the entire thing:

Priestess was still questioning what she should say to Princess. She was unsure if she should be happy she was safe or angry that she stole her chainmail. She was still unable to reach a conclusion even after she saw that while Princess was fortunate to be alive, she was wounded and heartbroken.
Even when she recovered her chainmail and hugged Princess, she wasn't sure if it was that she was glad to have recovered her precious item or the girl. She knew that if one was lost but the other was found, both would leave a sting in her heart. That's why she hugged them both.
The book justifies the Goblin Priest surviving having his head smashed in as a really good roll of the dice. No one lapsed in their vigilance like how the anime showed, he basically rolled a critical success on his death roll and thought to himself that the Dark God would save him. It didn't.
The Blizzard that it unleashed was so cold and sharp that Priestess considered the pain unendurable as she writhed in agony, even her very breath tormenting her as it smothered every last light in the Dungeon and her eyelids threatened to freeze shut if she didn't blink while she desperately tried to keep Princess alive before Lizard Priest offered his body for shelter.
Lizard Priest got it even worse as frost formed on his scales, his skin froze, and snow collected on his claws and fangs. The reason he couldn't even cast another Miracle was because it took a certain amount of strength to do so and the cold sucked the life out of him as he was getting ready to nearly shut his eyes for good.
Goblin Slayer was tanking sleet and hail along with the snow, battering his armor and shield as he beelined for them and supported Lizard Priest with his back. They couldn't retreat fast because the floor was iced over and if they tripped they probably weren't going to get back up.
The Priestess' body was pale and bloodless, her lips turning purple from the cold and her teeth chattering by the time High Elf Archer sheltered both her and Princess.
In the thirty seconds it took for them to get together in that single turn, Lizard Priest was in a state where he couldn't even drink a potion without the risk of choking. Priestess had to pour in a cloth and press it against his mouth so he could suckle it while she drank a half-frozen one herself that burned on the way down.
High Elf Archer taking that direct hit crumpled like a dried leaf was bad enough they were worried it had been a critical (fatal) but she was still able to move.
The Hand was actually starving and withering because it couldn't get nourishment from the Goblin's flesh and soul it consumed. It intended to kill the Adventurers, seeking their lives and souls and despair, using senses so far removed from mortals they couldn't understand it.
When the hand got ready to go after Dwarf Shaman, who it recognized had gotten inspired by something akin to joy or greed, Priestess baited it. Seeing her trying to fight back the cold and fear, it rushed her faster than she could hope to escape with the intention of squeezing her into a bloody soup.
It never saw the oil coming since it was a moment away from grabbing her, hence why it slipped then and did the same when Goblin Slayer hooked it. The gasoline basically acted as a lubricant so that he could reel it in.
At that point, the Demon Hand backhanded him hard enough that his armor cracked when he hit the wall. It hurt, but he was still in a better condition than the Ogre left him. He then tried to get it into the elevator and the hand stopped resisting because it decided to cast a Blizzard instead, and Priestess was getting ready to support GS while thinking that before she couldn't do anything and used up everything prior to then.
That was when Lizard Priest, who regained just enough strength for a miracle thanks to Dwarf Shaman using Kindle to give him warmth, created his Sword Claw for HEA to shoot it. It didn't cause the thing any serious pain, but it was enough to interrupt its casting and give GS the chance to reel it into the elevator.
The pain from the hand slamming into the Protection clouded Priestess' vision as a shockwave went through her solar plexus and it felt like it was tearing out her insides, forcing her to swallow the bile since if she faltered they would be screwed. Even then she began to have her life flash before her mind until she heard Goblin Slayer tell her the elevator was coming and she clung to his words. The Demon Hand still held off for several seconds before there was a squish.
Then she noted Goblin Slayer supporting her as they walked was the first time he did so, which caused heat to rise in her cheeks as she looked down to see his boots and her own feet walking side-by-side.
With Lizard Priest not at full strength, Goblin Slayer needing to support himself on a wall, and HEA clutching her side by the end of clearing the room of Goblins, she realized that they were still hurting but they couldn't rest for long and even then they knew there would be more goblins waiting for them at the top.
The greenskins numbered more than fifty total and their thoughts were pretty clear on what they were going to do to the girls (necrophilia is on that list) as they inched closer and closer to draw out the fear, since they enjoyed seeing the Adventurers looking so beaten.
Goblin Slayer hadn't given up. He stood at the entrance of the Dungeon, where their numbers couldn't be used to swarm them from both sides, and he intended to act as a wall. The others seeing this got ready, despite HEA being almost out of arrows, Dwarf Shaman only had his axes after setting Princess down behind him, and Lizard Priest striking an imposing stance.
Then lightning came down and smote a bunch of them as it came down like rain. The Goblins tried to flee into the Dungeon, but they couldn't get past GS, and so it was another hammer and anvil situation.
Priestess noticed that despite the fact that she was terrified to the point she needed to lean on her alligator since she couldn't stand on her own, Sword Maiden's attention was only on Goblin Slayer. He was the reason she could confront her greatest fear.
The above made Priestess feel humiliated, pathetic, and pitiful considering she was clinging to him. But it also reaffirmed that she wanted to be his source of strength one day.
The plan was to use the fiery stone to control the Goblins, have the creature assimilate the Greater Demon, and impersonate the Princess, so they could manipulate the King. They really thought they could control it, and were fine with letting the King remain on the throne so long as they could spread their faith.
And to deal with the Heroine they would try to wrap her around their fingers by fawning over her, playing to her seeming naivety, or sending her on a suicide mission. The cultist, being a misogynist, would have been fine with the monster from beyond the stars absorbing them for their power.
The reason the Knight of Diamonds was also going to kill the guards was that they didn't flinch when demons were called in by the cultist, meaning they were coconspirators used to it. No mercy to Non-Prayer Characters.
Even Priestess thinks that while Goblin Slayer probably wouldn't ask for the Princess' hand in marriage or anything, he could have asked the King for sterner measures against Goblins, or being promoted to Gold Rank, or discreet royal support. But it wouldn't be him if he dreamed so big.
Witch was there as well and noticed Priestess was upset about something, which was her wanting to be more like her: outstanding, beautiful and strong, mellow and giving good advice, knowing everything, and being elegant and refined. She also saw Sword Maiden in that same light.
From her perspective, seeing Apprentice Cleric and Rookie Warrior celebrating, Female Knight making a bold statement, and everywhere she looked people were sparkling, she feared she hadn't changed at all.
The reason she was afraid of Princess joining the nunnery was that she often met girls who went to a temple after their first adventure, broken in heart and shattered in mind, even if their bodies weren't. She was afraid that it meant she failed someone again, so hearing that she decided to become a cleric made her so happy that it brought tears to her eyes.
Part of the reason Goblin Slayer can only do what he does is because he was told he's too stupid for anything else by Burglar. Just focus on what's in front of you, take care of it, and then go on to the next thing. Keep looking forward; move your feet. Stand up and proceed. That way everything in the world will be taken care of. If you don't do it, nothing will change.
He feels he can't walk the same path as the others since he didn't see the point in praying to gods, but because of that, he was impressed by those who did and could believe. He didn't know what was right, but he could only keep walking and that was everything to him.

I did love the early part. "Ok banged up Princess...oh my god my chainmail!" I mean yeah, I'm sure the chainmail has more value to her than the person that took it. But that's hilarious how they cut that scene together. Checks the girl, runs to her chainmail, but makes it back in time to comfort the girl. Though honestly you kind of doubt she cares and is mostly being thankful her chainmail is safe

Basically fighting Master Hand or FGO's Hand of Dawn was pretty amusing. Utterly dangerous if it got locked in, but also...it was a hand. Just had to outmaneuver it. Close call though.

Especially close call with a whole army of goblins waiting for them. And considering how worn down they were that was an especially dire situation. Thankfully the Sword Maiden did actually come through for them. Managed to gather herself and dug deep at a time when it was most needed. Otherwise they really would have been done for.

What an insane plan though. I mean actually intending to use the goblins to summon a greater demon and combine it with that creepy entity. Could have easily created an apocalyptic situation if things had actually gone according to plan.

So that's it. Honestly...this season was kind of a mess. The editing, fight choreography and development of scenes seemed utterly bizarre. And goodness knows it takes a huge hit for wasting so many episodes on that annoying kid. Absolutely far worse than the original season in just about every way. The main cast was still good and it had some solid moments. The elf marriage mini-arc was good (mostly).

Still...6/10 at the most.

Another end to the season. Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed, but tbf, the 1st season kinda set the bar, and unfortunately the 2nd season could not match it at all. The animation was an obvious downgrade, except that one episode where GS team fights the dinosaur, rides the raft to the ruins(killing some goblins along the way), and the 1-to-1 with GS and HEA. Kinda odd that one episode has superior animation to the rest, but if there was only 1 ep they were going to make that way, then that one was probably the best for me. I just liked the GS/HEA moment especially, but the fighting animation was just too good as well =03.

Next, I'd like to thank Twi for all the effort of mentioning the omitted details from the story every week. That being said, in the 1st season, there were certainly details missing, but other than the Burglar(when GS nearly died) scene and "the dice" being rather obscure, for most of the season, the anime gave sufficient details. This season though, it feels like there were overarching narratives that started to become more important, especially since GS was growing as a character. Him "just slaying goblins" in the 1st season was enough; but now, he's starting to think beyond that, and other characters start to play more of a role in what GS is doing or the events around him, but the anime isn't giving enough details for the narrative to make sense. Showing "snippets" of other teams after they've been doing a number of events in the background does more of a disservice than just outright omitting them. After all, we could just focus on GS, and not "the world of GS" and the events can be made sense.

The Annoying Boy from the first 4 episodes DEFINITELY didn't make getting into the new season any easier. Marriage arc was probably my favorite of the arcs. Last arc was okay. I really liked the music in the last ep, specifically the fight against the hand, and the KoD theme. But after this season, this doesn't particularly make me crave more GS like the 1st season did, esp if its going to be this kind of overall quality(ofc I'll watch if they do though).

Someone has to do it since it's a real disservice when important things are snipped that add context or they downplay how serious a situation is with bad animation. Priestess' warring feelings and inadequacies, the sheer cold behind that Blizzard, and how it showed just how much of a threat it hand was when Sword Maiden's previous party slew two of the things with minions around them in the flashback even before they were Silver-Ranked, and so on.

The worst part is when some of the stuff they cut gets bought in later Volumes because they can't go back. After all, time moves forward in Goblin Slayer.

Very sh***y animation in second half too. There might be one or two decently looking episodes in middle.

The Elf's breast size literally changes every cut during fanservice scenes. It would be funny if it wasn't for the fact this is so telling how poor the quality is. You'd think someone would say something when the flat girl grows like 2 or 3 cups and then loses it right away? And of course, the men have pertty eyes. This is fine for the female characters, since their purpose is to look cute anyways, but the men... As for the story... Kinda meh? It doesn't help that the beginning arc and ending arc of the season had stupid brats causing the trouble as the guest main characters. Also, the Priestess kinda grows(?) as a fighter this season using her healing magic to kill stuff, but a lack of explanation and poor presentation (don't need both but need at least one) kinda makes it hard to understand what's going on. I did find Goblin Slayer's "Is that a Goblin? Those first chapters with the wizard boy were a chore but after that it wasn't that bad. 7/10. Last chapter was good and I loved to see the sword maiden showing off. I laughed really hard when Priestess ignored the princess in order to get her chainmail, and only then consoled her. Twi Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011	Ugh... I hate to say it, but the anime did them dirty this episode as I got through the Light Novel for this part. To summarize my review, I will admit I am not as hyped as I was for the first one. The content itself isn't bad, though considering how much cut content I have to write about I'm not happy important things get snipped, but I really felt the budget. Especially those still shots as they climbed to the top of the Dungeon. There's no way to exclaim just how lacking the animation for this season was compared to the first season. Not to mention the scenes don't highlight the epicness of the LN (this last battle especially in the bottom section), so it feels lackluster. It wasn't unwatchable, but as a fan, I grieve the quality and wish we got better than we did. I sincerely doubt we will be getting a Season Three, even if there are enough materials for it. So this is what people are going to remember it for in the end. And that saddens me because the world of Goblin Slayer is an interesting take from the eyes of one who hunts the weakest monsters. And now for the cut content. Strap yourselves in, this is going to be a long one as this episode starts in the middle of Volume 8, Chapter 8, and wraps up the entire thing: Spoiler: Priestess was still questioning what she should say to Princess. She was unsure if she should be happy she was safe or angry that she stole her chainmail. She was still unable to reach a conclusion even after she saw that while Princess was fortunate to be alive, she was wounded and heartbroken. Even when she recovered her chainmail and hugged Princess, she wasn't sure if it was that she was glad to have recovered her precious item or the girl. She knew that if one was lost but the other was found, both would leave a sting in her heart. That's why she hugged them both. The book justifies the Goblin Priest surviving having his head smashed in as a really good roll of the dice. No one lapsed in their vigilance like how the anime showed, he basically rolled a critical success on his death roll and thought to himself that the Dark God would save him. It didn't. The Blizzard that it unleashed was so cold and sharp that Priestess considered the pain unendurable as she writhed in agony, even her very breath tormenting her as it smothered every last light in the Dungeon and her eyelids threatened to freeze shut if she didn't blink while she desperately tried to keep Princess alive before Lizard Priest offered his body for shelter. Lizard Priest got it even worse as frost formed on his scales, his skin froze, and snow collected on his claws and fangs. The reason he couldn't even cast another Miracle was because it took a certain amount of strength to do so and the cold sucked the life out of him as he was getting ready to nearly shut his eyes for good. Goblin Slayer was tanking sleet and hail along with the snow, battering his armor and shield as he beelined for them and supported Lizard Priest with his back. They couldn't retreat fast because the floor was iced over and if they tripped they probably weren't going to get back up. The Priestess' body was pale and bloodless, her lips turning purple from the cold and her teeth chattering by the time High Elf Archer sheltered both her and Princess. In the thirty seconds it took for them to get together in that single turn, Lizard Priest was in a state where he couldn't even drink a potion without the risk of choking. Priestess had to pour in a cloth and press it against his mouth so he could suckle it while she drank a half-frozen one herself that burned on the way down. High Elf Archer taking that direct hit crumpled like a dried leaf was bad enough they were worried it had been a critical (fatal) but she was still able to move. The Hand was actually starving and withering because it couldn't get nourishment from the Goblin's flesh and soul it consumed. It intended to kill the Adventurers, seeking their lives and souls and despair, using senses so far removed from mortals they couldn't understand it. When the hand got ready to go after Dwarf Shaman, who it recognized had gotten inspired by something akin to joy or greed, Priestess baited it. Seeing her trying to fight back the cold and fear, it rushed her faster than she could hope to escape with the intention of squeezing her into a bloody soup. It never saw the oil coming since it was a moment away from grabbing her, hence why it slipped then and did the same when Goblin Slayer hooked it. The gasoline basically acted as a lubricant so that he could reel it in. At that point, the Demon Hand backhanded him hard enough that his armor cracked when he hit the wall. It hurt, but he was still in a better condition than the Ogre left him. He then tried to get it into the elevator and the hand stopped resisting because it decided to cast a Blizzard instead, and Priestess was getting ready to support GS while thinking that before she couldn't do anything and used up everything prior to then. That was when Lizard Priest, who regained just enough strength for a miracle thanks to Dwarf Shaman using Kindle to give him warmth, created his Sword Claw for HEA to shoot it. It didn't cause the thing any serious pain, but it was enough to interrupt its casting and give GS the chance to reel it into the elevator. The pain from the hand slamming into the Protection clouded Priestess' vision as a shockwave went through her solar plexus and it felt like it was tearing out her insides, forcing her to swallow the bile since if she faltered they would be screwed. Even then she began to have her life flash before her mind until she heard Goblin Slayer tell her the elevator was coming and she clung to his words. The Demon Hand still held off for several seconds before there was a squish. Then she noted Goblin Slayer supporting her as they walked was the first time he did so, which caused heat to rise in her cheeks as she looked down to see his boots and her own feet walking side-by-side. With Lizard Priest not at full strength, Goblin Slayer needing to support himself on a wall, and HEA clutching her side by the end of clearing the room of Goblins, she realized that they were still hurting but they couldn't rest for long and even then they knew there would be more goblins waiting for them at the top. The greenskins numbered more than fifty total and their thoughts were pretty clear on what they were going to do to the girls (necrophilia is on that list) as they inched closer and closer to draw out the fear, since they enjoyed seeing the Adventurers looking so beaten. Goblin Slayer hadn't given up. He stood at the entrance of the Dungeon, where their numbers couldn't be used to swarm them from both sides, and he intended to act as a wall. The others seeing this got ready, despite HEA being almost out of arrows, Dwarf Shaman only had his axes after setting Princess down behind him, and Lizard Priest striking an imposing stance. Then lightning came down and smote a bunch of them as it came down like rain. The Goblins tried to flee into the Dungeon, but they couldn't get past GS, and so it was another hammer and anvil situation. Priestess noticed that despite the fact that she was terrified to the point she needed to lean on her alligator since she couldn't stand on her own, Sword Maiden's attention was only on Goblin Slayer. He was the reason she could confront her greatest fear. The above made Priestess feel humiliated, pathetic, and pitiful considering she was clinging to him. But it also reaffirmed that she wanted to be his source of strength one day. The plan was to use the fiery stone to control the Goblins, have the creature assimilate the Greater Demon, and impersonate the Princess, so they could manipulate the King. They really thought they could control it, and were fine with letting the King remain on the throne so long as they could spread their faith. And to deal with the Heroine they would try to wrap her around their fingers by fawning over her, playing to her seeming naivety, or sending her on a suicide mission. The cultist, being a misogynist, would have been fine with the monster from beyond the stars absorbing them for their power. The reason the Knight of Diamonds was also going to kill the guards was that they didn't flinch when demons were called in by the cultist, meaning they were coconspirators used to it. No mercy to Non-Prayer Characters. Even Priestess thinks that while Goblin Slayer probably wouldn't ask for the Princess' hand in marriage or anything, he could have asked the King for sterner measures against Goblins, or being promoted to Gold Rank, or discreet royal support. But it wouldn't be him if he dreamed so big. Witch was there as well and noticed Priestess was upset about something, which was her wanting to be more like her: outstanding, beautiful and strong, mellow and giving good advice, knowing everything, and being elegant and refined. She also saw Sword Maiden in that same light. From her perspective, seeing Apprentice Cleric and Rookie Warrior celebrating, Female Knight making a bold statement, and everywhere she looked people were sparkling, she feared she hadn't changed at all. The reason she was afraid of Princess joining the nunnery was that she often met girls who went to a temple after their first adventure, broken in heart and shattered in mind, even if their bodies weren't. She was afraid that it meant she failed someone again, so hearing that she decided to become a cleric made her so happy that it brought tears to her eyes. Part of the reason Goblin Slayer can only do what he does is because he was told he's too stupid for anything else by Burglar. Just focus on what's in front of you, take care of it, and then go on to the next thing. Keep looking forward; move your feet. Stand up and proceed. That way everything in the world will be taken care of. If you don't do it, nothing will change. He feels he can't walk the same path as the others since he didn't see the point in praying to gods, but because of that, he was impressed by those who did and could believe. He didn't know what was right, but he could only keep walking and that was everything to him. __________________

I mean yeah, I'm sure the chainmail has more value to her than the person that took it. But that's hilarious how they cut that scene together. Checks the girl, runs to her chainmail, but makes it back in time to comfort the girl. Though honestly you kind of doubt she cares and is mostly being thankful her chainmail is safe . Basically fighting Master Hand or FGO's Hand of Dawn was pretty amusing. Utterly dangerous if it got locked in, but also...it was a hand. Just had to outmaneuver it. Close call though. Especially close call with a whole army of goblins waiting for them. And considering how worn down they were that was an especially dire situation. Thankfully the Sword Maiden did actually come through for them. Managed to gather herself and dug deep at a time when it was most needed. Otherwise they really would have been done for. What an insane plan though. I mean actually intending to use the goblins to summon a greater demon and combine it with that creepy entity. Could have easily created an apocalyptic situation if things had actually gone according to plan. So that's it. Honestly...this season was kind of a mess. The editing, fight choreography and development of scenes seemed utterly bizarre. And goodness knows it takes a huge hit for wasting so many episodes on that annoying kid. Absolutely far worse than the original season in just about every way. The main cast was still good and it had some solid moments. The elf marriage mini-arc was good (mostly). Honestly, I'm kinda disappointed, but tbf, the 1st season kinda set the bar, and unfortunately the 2nd season could not match it at all. The animation was an obvious downgrade, except that one episode where GS team fights the dinosaur, rides the raft to the ruins(killing some goblins along the way), and the 1-to-1 with GS and HEA. Kinda odd that one episode has superior animation to the rest, but if there was only 1 ep they were going to make that way, then that one was probably the best for me. I just liked the GS/HEA moment especially, but the fighting animation was just too good as well =03. Next, I'd like to thank Twi for all the effort of mentioning the omitted details from the story every week. That being said, in the 1st season, there were certainly details missing, but other than the Burglar(when GS nearly died) scene and "the dice" being rather obscure, for most of the season, the anime gave sufficient details. This season though, it feels like there were overarching narratives that started to become more important, especially since GS was growing as a character. Him "just slaying goblins" in the 1st season was enough; but now, he's starting to think beyond that, and other characters start to play more of a role in what GS is doing or the events around him, but the anime isn't giving enough details for the narrative to make sense. Showing "snippets" of other teams after they've been doing a number of events in the background does more of a disservice than just outright omitting them. After all, we could just focus on GS, and not "the world of GS" and the events can be made sense. The Annoying Boy from the first 4 episodes DEFINITELY didn't make getting into the new season any easier. Marriage arc was probably my favorite of the arcs. Last arc was okay. I really liked the music in the last ep, specifically the fight against the hand, and the KoD theme. But after this season, this doesn't particularly make me crave more GS like the 1st season did, esp if its going to be this kind of overall quality(ofc I'll watch if they do though). __________________ Pure of heart, precious as life (^,^ )

Twi Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011	Someone has to do it since it's a real disservice when important things are snipped that add context or they downplay how serious a situation is with bad animation. Priestess' warring feelings and inadequacies, the sheer cold behind that Blizzard, and how it showed just how much of a threat it hand was when Sword Maiden's previous party slew two of the things with minions around them in the flashback even before they were Silver-Ranked, and so on. The worst part is when some of the stuff they cut gets bought in later Volumes because they can't go back.
