Okay, now that gotten to see the dubbed episodes, here's my rundown of each new character:
Gildarts (Jason Douglas) - I can think of worse people, at least. He's nice and rugged, a solid Funimation effort. But I can't really say much more than that, since he only appears for one episode. Faust (R Bruce Elliott) - Think Makarov, but replace the warm and silly grandfather vibe with chilling soullessness, and keep the amazing authoritative presence intact. And for those of you who saw the trailer and are wondering why he sounds nothing like Elliott, the episodes show why: it's not Elliott's voice in the trailer. Maybe they just dubbed him over with Elliott's. Gee, I wonder why. Yes, I did see the whole anime, so I do know the reason. Knightwalker (Colleen Clinkenbeard) - Like Faust, it's just Erza with none of the sweetness and all of the awesome. Like Gildarts, it's far too little to judge from the few scenes she has. Hughes (Josh Grelle) - Pretty much the only non-counterpart Edolas character that matched my never-before-disclosed dream cast. He sounds like a smug young bloke with everything to prove; I can't get enough of it, really. Sugarboy (Duncan Brannan) - Not too shabby. He's appropriately stuffy, but doesn't really stand out. Byro (Brad Vernable) - I've never heard of this guy before, but I hope Funimation keeps using him. He's got the creepy old guy voice and Ernie laugh down pat, and his performance is suitably creepy to boot. Coco (Felecia Angelle) - Again, another name I'm not familiar with. She's definitely full of zeal, so I hope she can carry her later episodes. Nadi (Douglass Burks) - He has one of the more cartoony voices in this dub, with its very nasally delivery. I don't hate it, but again, I sure do hope he can carry his weight in later episodes. Nichiya (Chris Guerrero) - Well...it's just Ichiya all over again. But since I haven't gone over Ichiya, I suppose I'll cover it here: he just eats it all up. That smooth, smarmy voice and over-the-top delivery make for a more than decent character performance. Lucky & Marl (Jerry Russell & Melanie Mason) - First, my condolences to Jerry Russell's loved ones, because he passed away two months before these episodes were released. Now then, these two may not have the weight of a pseudo Rave Master reunion behind them, but they make up for it plenty with Russell's grouchy old farmer guy and Mason's sweet old-ish farmer lady acts. They just sound so sincere that I know I'll miss Mr. Russell, even though we still have a few episodes yet to come.

The multiple VAs you haven't heard of, or aren't familiar with is kind of a quirk of Fairy Tail's anime. It has so many characters, so many of which get decent chances to show up again later, that they pretty much have to a wide group of people. Which also lets them try out newer talent on smaller roles.

New Part 9 trailer (sorry, Max). Can anyone recognize Zeref's VA?
EDIT: Just found out it's Joel McDonald (aka Brief from PSG and Meow from Space Dandy).

Just got my Volume 8 in the mail today. I binged watched it and finished the Edolas Arc. It was quite something. The voice acting was top quality, as usual.
Spoiler for Volume 8 Spoilers:
I gotta get my pre-order in for Volume 9. I'm excited to see what happens next. |

A day old, this one, but Funimation was kind enough to announce the English cast of Grimoire Heart (name spellings may vary in final product):

I know we're in filler now, but does anybody care that the latest part has been released? On top of that, watching the Key of the Starry Heavens arc dubbed has actually been a rather refreshing experience. I always felt that the arc alternated between good/decent episodes and bad ones, yet going through it dubbed, the bad parts aren't quite as bad as I recall. Except for that one scene with the guys who had huge jugs; that was horrific.

I need to catch up on the dub. It's been a while.
They seem to be pumping them out faster. I recall it taking a while to even get the series dubbed, and then another long time till the next set, but it seems we're already catching up. Wonder if that's normal or if the sales are good. |

I trust you're familiar with Brittney Karbowski and Jad Saxton, our voices for Wendy and Carla. Treat them well. :3
