It's more of a documentary of the 90s eroge industry boom The story is heavily based on real-life companies & people (mostly Cocktail Soft/Fairytale - later F&C). And the eroge know-how is stuff like "coloring CGs in a DOS enviroment with 16 colors on a 640x400 pixel screen"...

It's a bunch of fun for older eroge fans, since Wakaki knows his stuff and he interviewed loads of people for research, everyone from MIN-NARAKEN to Sca-ji. But given that the manga is only 2 volumes long and the exotic subject matter, is this going to be an OVA or what...?

It's going to be an original story as it implies

I just watched the special stream and the PV has been out for a week already. Looks interesting. Guess it's for oldies like me.

Could be good, but who knows. Akihabara animes in the recent cours haven't been good, with Magical Destroyers just simply being bad and that Black Lagoon ripoff doesn't count for anything.
But this seems down-to-earth enough

Lots of references to eroges past and present... Hapymaher is one of my all time favorites. Not sure how it'll be but definitely picked up for now.

It's... beautiful...

That said, the OP (ED?) by Shokotan was pretty meh. There was no up or down to her voice. It was just flat the entire time.
I'm pretty sure there are better eroge singers out there. KOTOKO, Ceui, Sakakibara Yui, Minami, geez man.

Saw the first episode and yeah, this is definitely not for me, I have nothing even close to nostalgia towards any of the games mentioned so far, this is definitely for a very specific target audience.

Super fun! Feel like it's been a while since there's a show chock-full of references like this. I've always been VN-adjacent, have played a few and followed that part of the fandom in the late 00s and 10s; but I'm glad it's enough to understand and enjoy the show. Not sure for how long though, 90s are definitely before my time.

Even outside of the eroge stuff, I think it does touch on plenty of other nostalgic stuff too, so there is definitely fun there
Such as when Akiba was more electronics-focused
And of course, you got to love the floppy disks we used when we were young, and the older OS when everything felt magical despite still being really restricted

The era of NEC PC98/ Microsoft Windows 95 games were not mainstream in Japan. The mainstream games are released on game consoles. It was said those artists who were aspired to join the game companies, but couldn't, ended up making ero PC games. Those games later made their way to anime.

Abeshi's character is 15yr in 1992, so he's a few years older than me laff. I still have Kanon in a hard drive somewhere, laff.
So far enjoying it.

Ah, this should be fun. Funny that Doukyuusei pops up since I just added the 30 year anniversary remake to my Steam wish list. I...should probably also get to finishing Yuno. >_>
