I know noting about the manga, but after watching the first episode..
I am kind of confused. Is Kyouhei the main character or is it his little sister?

Interesting marketing from Brains Base on this one:

The official Japanese website for the Kamisama Dolls television anime series is letting fans vote on which character and scene should be made into the all-new video extras on the Kamisama Dolls Blu-ray Disc and DVD volumes. The top three winning ideas will be produced as one-minute extras for the fourth, fifth, and sixth Blu-ray/DVD volumes.

The vote has already begun for the fourth volume, and it will end on July 31. Fans can choose one character in one outfit doing one activity. As of Wednesday, the top choice is Hibino Shiba bathing in the sea in gym clothes (281 votes).

The voting for the fifth volume's extra will end on August 31, and the voting for the sixth volume's extra will end on September 30. The fourth, fifth, and sixth Blu-ray/DVD volumes will ship in Japan on December 21, January 25, and February 22, respectively.

The first three volumes will come with an "Utao to Date" (Date with Utao) extra, a "Hibino Training in a Swimsuit" extra, and a tentatively titled "Mahiru" extra. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime outside Japan as it airs.

Well, to be fair, given Hibino's physical attributes it seems unlikely that was ever totally missing from the planning meetings.

More than your average drawn-out still images, inconsistent drawings (faces that morph a bit, etc.), and some jarring frame transitions (at one point the girl's long hair "leaps" as she's walking away). I'm being picky though; I mostly don't like the boring character designs.

And lol at the training with Hibino extra. That's really not the kind of specials I expected from this series.

Lol, really? Wehen you have boobs this big, it would be pretty logical to exploit them as much as possible. That is the rule of the industry.

But yeah I think we can all agree that the opening is pretty cool at least. Definitely going to be fuel for some fan videos.

As opposed to the very cliche "I am evil" thing they went with in the anime, it felt more like he was just trying to piss everyone off by making fun of them, while making witty remarks over how incompetent the little sister was. He actually gets to comment on her panties, as well, with stuff like "why would I be interested in a little girl's panties". I guess the adaptation was just... lacking in detail, and that resulted in the scene being very poorly made.

Huh. That does seem to make better context for that sort of remark.

I think your on to something here. Certainly it does look like the show is trying to strike contrast between the happy moments with the more grim ones much like Ga-Rei succeeded to do, but the transitions came of less seamless and more jerky.

That and it didn't help that it kept on trying to throw in jokes in the middle of an intense situation, so the impact was lessened greatly.

Yeah, even during the elevator scene my eyes kept on wandering towards them I hope she doesn't end up in any more serious, because it's going to be hard to keep my attention on the subtitles lol

I don't know if it's because I watched it while I'm borderline brain-dead at 6am in the morning, but Kamisama Dolls' first episode isn't invoking any feelings out of me...

Though I was amused at Hibino having... Obvious assets, in a show that isn't that sort

I really do think the first episode was fine, had it not had a couple moments like the panty moment, it would've served well as a bombardment of information and dark events + action which draws me into the next episodes just fine.

Much like how I felt about Sacred 7 this season in many ways, I feel episodes 2 and 3 will make or break the show. It will decide the direction the show wants to take, among other things.

The way that poll works allows for lots of... "cheating". If the 2ch people decide to pull a prank and let a choice get up on top, no matter how ridiculous it is, they will make it happen.
Like with Pokemon and Inazuma Eleven.
Then again, this isn't as popular, so there probably won't be much of that, hopefully.

The Good: The opening. Very nice motion graphics.

The Bad:

Its not a good sign for me when I want the Male Lead to die a horrible, quick death
15 minutes into the show.

They are trying way to hard to make the MC's little sister cute. The character design
doesn't support it, the directing doesn't enable it and the animation destroys any hope
of conveying 'cute'. Of course my ideal of 'cute' has been re-calibrated incredibly high thanks
to Denpa Onna.

The indifferent:

The main point that I got out of the opening was 'you see that long haired girl? She has
unnaturally gargantuan boobs.' This point is reinforced throughout the episode.
The only way to rectify the situation is by revealing that her boobs are actually a pair
of these kamisama dolls.

And while its probably not intentional, I keep thinking 'ZOMG MECHA QB!' every time I
see the white kamidoll.

Honestly after the early parts of the episode I was starting to wish the series was about the lead and those others as kids, seemed like they had some crazy stuff going on back then. Seems like the lead is going to bounce between being serious with the enemies and pretty submissive with the rest of the world.

Anyways seems like the series has some good potential. A crazy guy and a village that seems to be equally crazy. Looking forward to seeing more from the series though.

I do have a feeling that after the fight in the first ep, the story will go into a plateau to even things out a bit.
While the first ep doesn't have a big of a hook for me, it is kind of appealing in some way.
