Well, Kitamura's attitude is justified due to his history. He's the only one who really has a romantic history in the past. He had feelings for Taiga, but they were shot down, and he moved on. It doesn't mean you can't hang out with someone anymore if you/they turn you/them down. He just doesn't take anyone in the main group seriously because he knows how they think. He doesn't want a romantic life with them, he just wants to have fun.

And he is pursueing romance just with Sumire, obviously... It's just Kitamura is not a real best friend to Ryuuji (can you acll such guy a friend, from what we see in anime he is more distant than other guys with Ryuuji, he acts familiar but looks like an idiot. He is oblivious of the relationships around him, juts like your typical harem male lead. It's probably because i hate herem male leads most of the times and Kitamura is like that. I am just happy he is not the main lead. This show would be horrible if he were.

Nemo, you really seem to have it in for Kitamura.

I always wonder whether or not we the audience are supposed to like him though. If that was the author's goal she messed up pretty bad.

I'm thinking of somewhere in the lines that Kitamura is actually a character we are supposed to see how insensible he is concerning his relationships with women... and yeah how we are supposed to like that kind of person?

He confessed to Taiga once, got rejected, then switches to Sumire, the girls in class all fawn over him (especially two characters I don't want to remember who), knowing how hunky he is even though he looks like a nerd. He thinks he's unpopular with girls although everyone knows he isn't, and yeah he's truly dumb to that fact... what's more, much like how he knows Ami actually is, so does she, and whether she'll reveal Kitamura's side to anyone that we will somehow know later.

Kind of suits what Ami said in a sense as her love/romance is similar to that.

I'm noticing a very large drop-off in discussion when compared to past episodes. It's understandable though seeing as this was an in-between episode where not much happened. There were fun scenes but not as many that we can (Over)analyze the way we've done the past few weeks.

Even with the next episode coming out on Christmas Eve, I think it'll surpass this thread based solely on it being the conclusion to this volume of the story.

The festive season is upon us, so most people don't have the time or the energy to post, at least for a little while. Me, I'm still around until the 24th, so... loved the episode, specially Ryuji standing up to what he perceived as a wrong stance on Minorin's part - even if he may be all sorts of wrong, in the end and will have to actually apologize to her truthfully.
Also enjoyed Ami's little innuendo towards Ryuji. She's a sly little minx, that one.

Anyway, still loving the series. 9/10 from me.

Just watched episode 12 and I'm surprised to see Minori suddenly turn deadly serious like that.
It's obvious that she knows a lot more on what's going on than Ryuuji and Taiga.

Perhaps Ryuuji is easily tricked by father figures because he misses his own dad?

I wonder how Minori knows that Taiga's dad is up to no good?
The plot thickens, can't wait for episode 13! >_<

I actually like this episode. Quick comment, which I think might have been missed.

I notice how Taiga, despite not liking her father very much, takes Ryuuji's suggestion to give him a chance seriously, and actually opens herself up to disappointment. This is not the Taiga we have seen so far - she's quite self-preserving.

To me, it certainly is another not-so-subtle clue: "Taiga likes Ryuuji."

Hmmm, more likely if she pines for anything - its what her family *should* have been. Seriously, you don't tend to miss people who treated you abysmally.

On a separate note, Minorin is a great gal.... but I tend to agree with Ami that she "shines too brightly" for a personality like Ryuuji. Either Ami or Taiga would be a better fit (imo of course). Minorin seems to have a lot of fun with Kitamura but that opens up a whole bag of other kinds of worms.

I'm shock that Minorin exploded on Ryuji. I can't blame either one on who's right since I don't know what Taigai father really act like but since he didnt show up to her play and getting ready to pack up Taiga I say he one selfish bastard.

Actually, sometimes, you do just that. I would know.
But I meant what I wrote in that exact context: she misses the family she wanted to have and, for whatever reason, doesn't have at the moment.

And maybe, just maybe, Minorin was that angry with whatever is happening because she's been beside Taiga when she got her hopes up - or was swept away by her father's oh so pretty words - some other time before.

If you look at the scene again, it's actually him that explodes, she wasn't really angry at Ryuuji.
