Also, the news basically states an original story, so I'm hoping it is some sort of a hybrid of the official novels and original material (like how some of the first three seasons were). As for the old cast, I think that is basically a done deal. Original Slayers material + Megumi = all the rest including at least Gourry, Zelgadis and Amelia. I'm only worried about Amelia's seiyuu returning since she wasn't terribly active in recent years. Compared to the crazy amount of material the Gourry and Zelgadis seiyuus have been involved in. |

Ironically, I liked season 3 the best followed by 1 and 2. This is however great news - I remember watching the cantonese dub on TV as a kid and taking 6 months to obtain the 3 seasons of Japanese original!
Dragon Slave indeed. |

Guess Japan needs to revive franchises from the 90s' because the new generation of anime falls on fanservice or moe. I watched the first season and only half of NEXT back in the late 90s. Guess the fourth season will be a hybrid of canon and original material then? What are they going to call the new season? We got the Slayers, Slayers Next, and Slayers Try as the first three seasons.

That was the biggest tease since Zeta Princess Nine. Of course, P9 being way more obscure compared to Slayers in comparison.
More from HeiseiDemocracy So basically, just about all the seiyuus return including the director, the animation team and the writer himself who did all three seasons. You can't get any more loyal to the original source material than this. Compare this to the insane overhaul Gunslinger Girls Teatrino has gotten with just about everyone being swapped out. Not only is this news awesome, but it's incredible that just about everyone in the old cast and production is making a comeback. Including the staff that worked on it. This just sounds so ridiculous to me, I'm still in a bit of a daze right now. |

Here's my question about the return of the director, seiryuu, and the production team. Will this series be able to stand against other anime titles coming out when the new season of Slayers will be released? I hope they can update their animation as it seems to be outdated if they used the same techniques as the other three series. Slayers was such a hit back in the 90s, but we're not sure if it will be successful as the original audience has already grow up and are busy with their lives. Let's hope the new audience will enjoy the new Slayers series. If it is indeed an original series, then they should just introduce back Naga since all she did recently was a cameo in Premium. Don't forget about Luna Inverse as well because all they just show are pictures of her as a waitress n Next and Try. She would make Gourry and Zelgadis look like nothing before her swordsmanship, plus she would always glare at Lina for trying to do something behind her back.
