The tweet didn't actually specify if it will be a S2, just a sequel confirmed. Even ANN didn't mention S2 in the link there. Might be a movie for Bondrewd arc for all we know, seems pretty plausible enough than S2.

Anyway, really looking forward to this. The adaptation far exceeded my expectations after all, even when they didn't even reach Bondrewd Arc which I thought is the one that will totally popularize the manga/anime initially.

The difference in quality of this first episode compared to the others this season is pretty big I'd say.

I quickly figured out that Compass Girl's story took place in the distant past, but not just how long ago that was. I guess her story and Rika will run in parallel for a while?

In the manga things didn't happen concurrently, the flashback started something like 10 chapters after where Riko is now.

Hmmm... the entire arc is around 20 chapters though they are rather dense... its doable I think, though 13 episodes would help.

Yes, but only the third one. (Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei/Dawn of the Deep Soul) This is more like a season 3 in the grand scheme.

Here we go the sixth layer, great start and it did fit that they run the origins with riki in parallel, I enjoyed it.

As interesting as ever, and love the switching back and forth between the past and present group, ending with the present group reaching where the past group died?

That said, I haven't and don't plan to watch any of the movies, so... yeah, not sure what went on, but to be honest, the first season was a while ago anyways, so it is like watching the series anew already.

If you don't watch Dawn of the Deep Soul movie, you have one big gaping hole in the story. If you like the show, why you don't want to watch the movie anyway?

Its not particularly hard to find the movie either - its on HiDive - and you're going to be really confused whenever Prushka comes up. If you're trying to spare yourself trauma you're watching the wrong series to begin with.

I think the show is good, but I don't particularly "like" it in that sense. And when you search movies, for some reason, there are three of them, so boy does that not motivate me to sit down and watch all of them.
You could tell me now that only #3 matters, but now we have a bunch of new anime to watch already. I could use that time to watch Bastard, which is also one of those stupid Netflix "We'll give you every episode at once" things, and that would be a completely new story to me instead of just filling a hole the tv series doesn't care to fill.
If the anime doesn't care about the audience members that don't follow the movies, well, so be it.
