Does anyone know if there was any additional gore in the japanese dvds. There are scenes in the show where someone will be butchered and then a moment later for a full body shot there will be almost no blood. My friends and I are hoping that there will be those 'entry and exit wounds' for the dvds.

I know the lighting was brighter in the first episode with Homerun K1, but I don't know about the rest. It's possible they removed the darkened areas they put over some of the juicier bits Teppei's headache and Satoko's crucifixion.

Gorehounds, eh? Personally I wouldn't mind if they kept it the same. I'm not the biggest fan of gore in horror. Pretty strange, huh?

correct : all of the dark layed scenes are bright clear, and frankly, some of them should just be kept darkened... (not that i don't stand gore, but DEEN didn't really do a good job...)

see by yourself :
Warning : NOT SAFE FOR WORK ! you have been warned !
Spoiler for I should assume anyone here has already finished the serie. but better hiding it in spoiler than being sorry:

while uncensorship of episode 23 isn't too bad, 13 and 21 are really too... grotesque (but still gore ~~)

Oh god! The thing is, I don't really mind gore all that much. It's just that with characters I like so much, it just makes it that mush more horrible.

It's not that I'm a gorehound, it just bothers me a little if, say a character's being butchered and then a moment later there's hardly any proof that it's happened.

I was just wondering, does anyone know if Geneon going to use the uncensored footage in their R1 dvd's?

Do you mean the Geneon website, or the R1 Higurashi site?

Rina's corpse looks cheesy as hell. The original looked more ominous.

Oh jeez.
Spoiler:
really cut Rika up... At least in this arc Rika was probably unconscious at the time.

More than likely not, remember what was said? The goal was to keep the victim awake through the whole ordeal.

From what I remember of playing Minagoroshi, Rika never remembered anything in the previous arcs other than being jumped by someone in a dark room. I personally think that the reason why she doesn't remember her killer is because she gets knocked out every time before it happens.

Remember that the goal isn't to keep the victim awake; the goal is merely to ensure the death of the queen to trigger Hinamizawa Syndrome. The whole watanagashi is just Takano wishing to play God.

In Minagoroshi Rika specifically said she wanted to stay aware during the ordeal so she could burn the identity of the torturer into her consciousness.

Indeed, those were major spoilers. I'm glad I'd already figured most of that out
