I do remember that! Okay, so people can see the geass. Can they tell who is geassed though? By just looking at their eyes?

IIRC, geass givers and holders can see the bird things. Normal people can't.

Turn 13, Shirley's nightmare at the beginning of the episode ends with Geass appearing in Lelouch's eye. She can obviously see it, and she feared it.

No, they cannot

As proven by the fact in season 2 when Suzaku comes storming into the observation centre that was supposed to monitor Lelouch's movements.

When Suzaku asked where lelouch was they gave a strange answer, and after asking some more, Suzaku constituted that they had been geassed.

not necessarily.

As has been discussed ages ago, she never reacted to geass appearing in Lelouch's eye all the way back in stage 14, nor does she start screaming in turn 13 because she sees the geass. (her reactions are always to images of Zero) Shirley just remembers those scenes as the last time she had her original memories. Just like the first time that scene aired, only the viewers can see Lelouch's geass.

See, I guess I got thrown off by the fact that lelouches lenses block his ablility to use his geass, so it's not so that he can hide it... it's so that he doesn't have to worry about having another Euphy since he can't turn it off anymore.

Remember CC told him that the lens will only work until a certain point at which his geass would be too powerful.

The Geass sigil can be seen in the Geass user's eyes: Lelouch saw it in Mao's eyes, Shirley saw it in Lelouch's eye, Lelouch saw it in Charles' eyes.

The Geass halo, on the other hand, cannot be seen by people--that's just for our benefit.

only those with the potential can see the sigil, just like only those with the potential could see C.C.'s hologram thingy in stage 1 and stage 22.

Lelouch, Suzaku, Nunnally, C.C., Mao, V.V., Rolo, Bismark, Charles and Marianne all have/had the geass potential. Some of the other royal family members may have it as well, The DS game confirmed that at very least Euphemia and therefore Cornelia have it for example.

Shirley however does not. Just like the majority of the people in this show, she can't see the geass at all.

episode 21 rocks, i cant predict what the hell's gonna happen at all, an anime that i enjoy with everything thrown at me randomly but yet entertaining,
