General Music Thread.

I searched through the threads here in General Chat for a music thread and found they are all "closed".
The last one was shut down in 2009:

http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...t=music&page=5

Perhaps we should have another?
I like seeing what kinds of music other people listen to so that I get exposed to more varieties of music and expand my own repertoire.

In turn, I like sharing the music that I like with others so that they can do the same.

Please, NO ATTACKING other peoples' music.
People like what they like and that's that.

I am creating this thread so that people can SHARE what they like.
If it gets nasty here the mods will no doubt close the thread, and that would defeat the purpose of it.

So I ask for civility and just post what music you like and respect what other people like.

Thanks.

I'll start off with a band I like to listen to when I write my science fiction or work on my 3D digital artwork.

I'm random when it comes to music. I listen to what I like.

- NES 8 bit
- GENESIS / SNES 16 bit
- 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s
- Rock
- Pop
- Rap
- R&B
- Foreign music (Algerian, Egytian, Spanish, French, Japanese, Russian... etc) you name it

etc etc etc. So there is no certain genre of music I would stick to forever and ignore others.

Ritchie Valens - La Bamba (October 18, 1958)

Very cool.

Ritchie Valens is one of my favorites, and had fate not interfered I bet he would have gone on to make some more incredible music for his time.

Thank you for sharing, I haven't heard that song in quite a long time and it's nice to hear it again.
There are some really amazing songs from yesteryear.

I listen to music most often when I write, so while it's kinda of silly, this song is very true.

When I write battle scenes in my novels, I often listen to "epic" music, and this one is always played.

Saw this on tv by surprise and almost died.

Even if you're not a fan of Pharrell, please watch it anyway. He goes all in and commits.

Thank you, blakstealth.

Bookmarked and added to my music list (folder).

Very smooth song and nice to listen to, the video is also relaxing.

Here's one for you that's an AMV of a great dance song.

I'm working on Photoshop now, and I'm listening to this famous REMIX soundtrack. Its origin is from the SNES TMNT 4: Turtles in Time - Sewer Surfin (Rock Metal version).

I'm listening to this whole album lately as I write.
But this track is my favorite.

This is one of the best 80s cartoon song. Apparently this version is fanmade. I don't know. Even though the voice of the singer is identical. Perhaps is the same singer. I'm glad there is full version of it. M.A.S.K (1985)

And since you listen to foreign music, have you heard of Cafe Tacuba?

I was watching Bakuman. 1 the other day when it struck me that I'd heard the intro to the opening somewhere before. Check this out -

(Listen to the part played on violin after the intro riff)

Here's the opening to Bakuman -

They're not strikingly similar but I found it interesting. They're both great songs.

There are times instrumental versions are much better. The music helped me to finish GFXing a SIG.

Elvis Costello is in my mind one of the brilliant song writers we have. What I like especially about Oliver's Army is the contrast between the pop style tone and the dark lyrics. I reckon a lot of people know the song and probably made up lyrics to sing along it, because they cannot actually believe how grim the real lyrics are.

But in general, Costello's muisc, has had a stark influence on me, when I try to put some music together.

Anime Music Producer Predicts the End of the 90-Second Anime Song:

"Anime music producer Akihiro Tomita says that Netflix and online streaming will change
the length of anime opening and ending themes.

At an “Anime Industry Cross-Talk” event at the Shinjuku Loft Plus One on September 9,
Tomita shared his thoughts on the future of the anime industry. He said that creating 90
second versions of anime opening and ending themes has become the standard for
Japanese TV over the years, but this is not the case for international platforms and
online streaming. In particular, Netflix cuts the ending themes short and automatically
skips to the next episode.

As the binge watching model becomes the norm in Japan, anime songs will also have to
adapt to it. This is already the case for B: The Beginning, which has an abridged opening
theme song with no lyrics or credits, while the ending theme is around two-and-a-half
minutes and includes all the credits that would normally be in the opening."
