I wholeheartedly agree with you there: it's not so much the fact that David Hayter wasn't called back to take up the mantle, it was the way he wasn't even warned about it until he had to ask. It's a bit of a dick move on behalf of Konami/Kojima Productions.

I'm delighted by this news. I couldn't stand Hayter's "old voice" so I'm pleased to see him go. They could have laid him off in a better manner though. Hopefully, he'll come back if they ever make a game with young Solid Snake again.

This is the very first news I had when I got home from work. Fuck! Well either way I knew it's Keifer when I saw Yone's video, Konami they just beat around the bush, I agree on some things Kojima said that David Hayter is more of a writer than action actor, he wants BigBoss to be portrayed by an action actor. For me Solid Snake's voice over the past 15+ years is really iconic, but Iam 100% sure alot will only complain about the voice on the games, the game is looking go so far so lets see some more gameplay and story, before I judge Jack Bauer as Snake.
Edit for LOLZ Damn it Kojima! You Hired Liquid SNAKE!!!!! http://www.pankmagazine.com/pankblog.../06/david1.jpg Double Edit: In Lost Boys Keifer played a guy named "David" this might seal him as the new voice of BigBoss and Solid Snake

I'm wondering the same. To me, David Hayter is the perfect Solid Snake. But Big Boss should have been voiced by someone else from the beginning. Richard Doyle did a fantastic job as Old Big Boss, and I'm sure Kiefer will play a middle-aged Big Boss really well. Kojima said he's not done with Solid Snake, so most likely he'll be in another future Metal Gear title. Ideally, I'd like David Hayter to reprise that role, but if he doesn't, I won't lose any sleep over it.

A friend of mine just showed me this conspiracy theory and knowing Kojima I wouldn't put it past him to try and pull it off: New Coke Conspiracy

Well if that's the case it is true what Kojima said David Hayter is a writer not an actor. Only writers would like to implement their vision on someone else work.
