Way of the Samurai 4

http://www.wayofthesamurai4.com/index.php?offset=-4

Exclusively from PS Store.

Anyone else get this?

So far my opinion is that it plays like dynasty warriors but more story and sandbox/replay oriented

i'm still thinking of getting this game, but i'm not so sure yet.
it looks fun and wacky. i might get it once it hits the $25. still have other
games to play so i'm not in a rush.

hmmm...i think it plays more like Bushido Blade than Dynasty Warrior. ^^;

i think the $40 is an 'okay' price tag for this type of game (the environment is very colorful and smooth). if you are a fan of samurai or hack/slash games, i wouldn't hesitate though, its worth it based on the fun factor

summary:

-amazing customization potential - this is where the fun can come in for some people, i've seen in some videos people running around fighting in those samurai thongs, or with crab hats, (though you have to unlock some of these with specific tasks)

-VN type routes/endings - luckily the game maps it all out for you so you can plan out different routes in advance

-the only bad thing i can think about is the combat. coming from games like assassins creed or batman series, the fighting is inferior, even to dynasty warriors. what the combat lacks is fluidity, meaning if there are 10 enemies, you literally have to fight them 1 by 1, there is no chaining or mowing down groups.

-on a positive note, there are like 80 different sword styles to choose from to spice up the visuals of your attacks

verdict: (7.5/10) decent

for what this game is, it's not bad. the main selling point is being able to fully customize pretty much everything, and you can live with the game's shortfalls. most of the value is in replay, unlocking things and pimping out your character for the next play.

^ This is a samurai movie flick thing, in japan even murderers have some honor. they won't all run up and gang slaughter you.

Previous games that I played were really fun. I'm itching to get this, but I'm out of money curently. Actually... that's a lie. I'm saving for Resident Evil 6 and Dead or Alive 5.

Save for when its cheap, the gameplay in this is very awkward feeling. Oh and don't get arrested, its really screwed up.

Of course not. You don't fight demons and monsters in this....

But we so could use a Onimusha HD collection.

Hey, yeah I play this game. Been into the series since the second one (didn't pay the first. At least I don't think I did.) It is a great game with a ton to do and I saw some good vids on it. Anyway, I can record my gameplay in HD so if anyone needs a guide or has a challenge then I may take you up on that offer. I am still completing some story modes and trying to work on mastering more fighting styles...oh and trying to get pieces to make a really good sword that isn't Life&Death. Already have plenty of those swords and want to try out other things (I don't even know what some of the charms do)

My character name is now Saudademaru so if you run into him....I hope he isn't as weak as the me I fought myself version...urg I gave myself a 2 attack power sword -.-

Yeah, first open up the dojo by talking to the old man in there then you can recruit most people, to do so you have to switch your fighting style to be blunt/reverse just to beat them and not kill them. After you beat them they should kneel down then press X and select I'm making you my pupil. They may accept or decline. I find that if they decline you can kick them once real quick and they will get back down and you have a chance of getting them again.

Take a look at this playlist I have. In it there is a video of my dojo and many people I've recruited (max of 20 members plus sensei training them.
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...ature=view_all

Also, does anyone know who that spectre guy is in the cemetery at night standing on the tree? That is also in my playlist. He doesn't seem to offer any services to me.

*edit*
I'm also wondering if anyone ever makes a good spear, or sees player data with one over the networking feature. I'm thinking about using a style because they have some good moves and it would be different but I'm worried I'll have to make my own spear lol. All this time I've been throwing the spear parts away though =/
