hah! perfect adaptation from the LN. As a reader, I'm so happy with how it turns out!!

regarding the 'Bullet Line', here's a quote on how he saw it.

Spoiler for LN Quote:

Also, the 'sword skill' that Kirito uses with the.... Light Saber(?) is 'Vertical Square', a 1-handed sword skill from SoA.

And also, regarding the dirt bike in the end, do remember that the setting is 2025.
Allow me to quote another segment from the LN, this will explain it.

Spoiler for LN Quote:

That is a manual bike!!! by 2025 manual gear is ancient!! Hence not many people can drive it!!!

GGO looks quite pretty. Overall, this episode was decent. Loved Kirito's little inner conflict about whether to point out that he's actually a guy.

The Engrish in this episode, though. While more tolerable than most examples was still pretty annoying. Plus that whole misspelling of "Paid" or "Pay" really bugged me.

Funny enough, that moon sentence isn't even that bad, since it is not really wrong - the 'from here' part is just unnecessary.
You should also remember that it is still a japanese game, so GGo's script would be written by Japanese too.

As for the spelling and grammar on the screenshot... Well that explains why I thought some japanese stuff was written there, in the 2 milliseconds I saw it lol.

But is that even something that you can do in GGO? I don't have the impression that it's meant to be just a help rather than an integral part of the game system.

Actually GGO is an American game.

In my opinion, the part during the "Untouchable" mini-game is above-average and comprehensive, English-wise.

But yeah, the staff needs to work on their English!

I think it was more a reference to the sentence itself, rather than the pronounciation.
And yeah I agree it was totally comprehansible - I've heard worse from some english teachers.

Usually you can switch crosshairs off, so I hope a thing like that would be toggable too.
Either way that thing is darn distracting and there would certainly be more than enough players complaining about it to make an option to switch it off.

Weapons with a Laser pointer are overkill either way since they don't really 'fly' randomly. (Neither irl, nor in games( usually that is)).

Well if its that:

Actually he said 'Hey chicken, come on' not 'Hey check it, come on', so 'You loser' is fine too given the context, especially when looking at the NPCs other lines, it is very clear that he is trying to distract players by taunting them.

The mohawk guy back in ep.2 didn't have an auto-assist system (abbreviated to ASS? lol) for the few seconds where we got to see from his POV.

Check it works too, referring to the game itself...I found out that speaking english is considered "cool" waaay back in the Naruto fillers, but this is the second or third time I've seen it pulled off well.

So it does...I want to see more areas within the game, the rocky wastelands were pretty standard stuff but the city was awesome.

I like the serie so far, the only thing that bugs me, is when Kirito says that he's 99% sure that you can't kill a person just by shooting him/her in GGO, when in SAO the people die when the character die.

Or I don't know if I understand wrong that.

You can kill people with Nervgear. You're not supposed to be able to do that with Amusphere. (Though that's really not a question you should be asking a high school student... Try a team with an engineer and a neurosurgeon, maybe.)

After the SAO incident, companies went out of their way to make sure something like that couldn't happen again, if I'm remembering correctly, which is why I believe Kirito feels so certain about that statement.

its probably some roundabout way with the Amusphere.

VR gear in SAO are holding things for real so I imagine that it can also make the brain think that a certain amount of blood has been lost or that the heart stopped functioning.

The Lawnmower Man, Matrix and even Star Trek made the claim that if one person in VR experiences death or harm he will suffer the same IRL, but I'm pretty sure it's just a bunch of overly dramatic crap.

In SAO the Nervgear physically burned the brain, so it was an attack that had nothing to do with the virtual reality.

However in ALO we see that the experience of intense pain does have an effect on the real body but that's the same degree of effect that you would expect without VR due to similar traumatic experiences, and that's where I think you should draw the line to maintain some sort of credibility.

You won't lose an arm if you lose it inside a game even if you feel the very same pain, similarly you won't die if you experience death (and some deaths aren't even that painful anyway. Technically the only thing you can experience is pain, not "death").

I suppose you can cause a traumatic experience strong enough to cause severe neurosis which would also have an impact on the body, but the effect wouldn't be immediate. You can probably also cause heart failure on someone who has a weak heart to begin with (but not on someone who has a perfectly normal heart).

Now if the system can do something more than simply send sensory information then it might also cause more harm, but I don't quite know how much the Amusphere can interfere with the brain's basic functions.

If the Amusphere only tricks to conscious mind (as it should) there shouldn't be any problem, but if it can send false information to the sympathetic nervous system... well that's quite a problem.

That English spelling exists I'm pretty sure. I think it's British or something... no really... I definitely have seen paid spelled that way before... correctly...

Jan-Po pretty much explained it.

VR like in SAO pretty much tricks your brain into thinking that you are holding the sword/gun/whatever for real. You can also see that the rest of the body seems to be dormant while its being used.

So the brain's main responsibility is to keep the body alive, which it basically does by controlling the rest of your body through electical pulses.
As it is is basically the command center it does everything it can to keep itself up and running and as long as it is alive you aren't dead at all, which is also why CPR works.

Brain death, is the point of no return, where you are indeed considered dead, both legally and physcally. It is of course possible to stimulate muscles like the heart using medical applicances, but that won't help you anymore when the brain stopped working

Quote:

Either way back on topic: We take with us that the brain sends, recieves and computes signals to and from the rest of the body.

In order to do that, it can even cease the funtions of single organs to increase its own capabilities. - the white light people who died and were brought back claim to have seen comes from that for example. (For how exactly that works wikipedia or wiki answers; I think it draws all the oxygen to itself or so)

So, the people in SAO died because their heart stopped, while they were physically healthy.
So, since there is no such thing as a death note in SAO (just a death gun lol), the most logical information for the deaths is that the brain was given the information that either the heart stopped beating or manimpulated it into sending a command to make it stop.
