Something tells me that this has been asked somewhere before, but I did a search and cannot find it anywhere...

At the end of the Clannad After Story is a song "Chiisana Tenohira", AKA, "The palm of a tiny hand". I've done google searches and stuff, and I just cannot find it. I can only find the romanji. It follows:

Spoiler for Romanji:

Would anybody be able/willing to give me a translations for that?

And, thanks in advance if you are.

This is a request from one of my MSN buddies. Who here can translate the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit into Japanese equivalents?

Well then...
But note that I'm not really good at English and I don't even know what the picture actually is so my translation may be off

I guess now I can see the reason why you haven't translated it with your fellows when you are a fansubber - hell, this song is horribly ambiguous and confusing! And I mean it!
The lyrics lack just too many needed elements to compose reasonable sentenses, like verbs and subjects, and even tenses are confusing!
I might as well have given it up, the song just doesn't translate well into English
(or doesn't really make sense in the first place) but here's my try.

Spoiler for space:

EDIT: Ooh, I reviewed the translation and have found some apparent errors. Slightly better now.

RE-EDIT: Or should I say; isn't there any one to correct and improve it? This work needs more than just my skills, most obviously.

Can someone give more details on the idiom
"nan no mae bure mo naku" (何の前触れもなく)

I gather the saying means something among the lines of "without warning", does anyone know about its origin?

Oh, I'm so sorry! I forgot about requestion this. Thank you so much!

I could give it a shot in editing, but that'd just make it sound more English, not more accurate.

"mae bure" literally means beforehand-contact; omen, with which you can predict something, no matter whether it is a natural phenomenon or an action made by a person. E.g., if your wife behaves coldly to you, it shall be the mae bure of the divorce crisis; if it is cold and moist today it shall be the mae bure of tomorrow's snow.

"nan no X mo naku" means without any kind of X. So you can interprete the total idiom as "without any kind of foretelling material".

I gave it a shot at editing. Since you are the translator, you would know best if I was too liberal with something or not. So, here we go...

In the distant sea the rice plants are swaying.
Raising a Sail, steered by our memories
Can we remember all the sad things that have happed?

Someday, even in the palm of a tiny hand there will be strength for us
We have walked together from the day we first cried
We will continue going this way, with the strength from this tiny hand
Until that day in the future we will cherish with our memories

The seasons have passed and the wind is cold already
But be surrounded and sleep in that song of spring

Someday, even in the palm of a tiny hand there will be strength for us
How many smiles have shown on our cheeks?
We will continue going this way, with the strength from this tiny hand
And we will cherish our memories with the coming day

Some day the palm of a tiny hand will go over us
And that soon to come day will open the new season

Thank you very much for your work!

Well, in your edit some parts are definitely better than mine, yet on some parts I feel your edit is somewhat excessive (for instance, "sour grapes" reference on the 5th line - though I understand if you want to make comprehensive subtitles you have to radically facet words sometimes) and on some others I'm ambiguous which one is better.

If you're interested, will we discuss this further using PM maybe?

Yeah, that's fine. It's just the usual transitions between a translator and an editor. At least when I'm working on fansubbing, I know that the editors tend to cut out a lot of things that are important for the sake of Englishness, and it needs to be in close working with the translator so that nothing too much is really cut out.

PM's will work fine. I hadn't thought about subbing this, but I guess with an appropriate timer/K-timer it could be done.

Natsu no rakugaki hon. Unprofessionally translates to "a collection of summer doodles."
