Is it me or was there a Ni no Kuni cameo at the very start?

Lol'd at the part where she watches a boy on youtube and grabs the tissue box.

Also it looks like she has a lot of spyware on her computer. Maybe she should run a scan or two ._.

I get the feeling that Tomoki is starting to think that Tomoko is a brocon.

This series is so cruel, but one of the better shows I have seen for a while.
Love that scene where tomoko's mother walked into her room, the fact that that scene was so long and ended with her mom walking away, makes it really funny. And the way she comforts herself afterwards was so hilarious.

Creeped out or overwhelmed by the presence of a master? I think even the girls from Genshiken would've been impressed by that.

(Speaking of which, this really does demand a crossover...)

What Tomoko might look like in a few years.

You do know that, unless it's about gaming, Kotaku's almost as bad as Sankaku these days?

That was a really interesting read, the discussions in the comment section, not the actual article haha.
I enjoy watching this anime, it's relatable in some level, people like art that they can relate to. I'm not sitting on a throne of fire having orgasms and cackling every time Tomoko's social anxiety leads her to socially embarrassing and emotionally traumatizing situations. I'm not turning a blind eye to the fact that Tomoko does have severe social anxiety and I feel a lot of sympathy (and empathy) for this girl. Different personalities like different types of humor. The show is funny, but simultaneously I do feed bad for her.

I can't say that I agree with the article (I don't find the series' tone buoyant enough to feel much like a comedy, but I don't think it's meanspirited either - it's just an honest and straight shooting series that accurately depicts the mindset and difficulties of that kind of person), but at the same time I do appreciate the guy for basically having his heart in the right place. In a world that often isn't compassionate enough, I can't bring myself to mind someone for swinging a wee bit too far in the opposite direction.

I'm more amazed that the comments generally agree with the reviewer.

Because yeah the typical guys who like watamote are totally jocks who party all day and like to make fun of nerds.

Sometimes blind kindness is worse than cruelty.

Wait, they are? <_< I thought that the jock anime of choice was dubbed Dragon Ball Z and that they'd moved on about ten years ago, never to be seen in the lands of anime again.

edit: wait, I get the sarcasm now.

There are some really great rebuttals amongst the comments too, fortunately.

You're not talking about the kid with glasses on the TV are you? Isn't that Tombo from Kiki's Delivery Service? The dialogue is straight out of the movie.
