Haunted Junction(Trip Down Memory Lane)

About a month ago i got my hands on Haunted Junction and i couldn't help but feel nostalgic watching it. I kept thinking of the 90's; the opening and closing definitely spark such intrigue.

I really enjoyed this show for its light ecchi humor and comical slapstick approach, recognizable in Fushigi Yugi, Dragon Half, Ranma, KO Beast and Jewel Bem Hunter Lime. I feel like this was much more light hearted and enjoyable for all audiences then some of the newer stuff thats out now. I just wish it was a six part OVA rather then a 12 episode tv series.

Ah, HJ - what memories. Serious ecchi there. And an interesting left turn into seriousness at the end. All in all a pretty underrated series, IMO.

I liked how straight forward the one liners were; they were straight to the point and you had to pay attention to get them.

I read the manga, which was pretty good and goes on for a much longer duration than the anime. The anime was kinda incomplete and really screwed with the main chars personality.

It seems that's often the case with manga and anime-there's a lot of discrepency between the two when manga is adapted to anime or in the rare case when it's the other way around-as in Tenchi Muyo.

I think as fans we just have to except that anime and manga are two different mediums. Each have there own qualities and excel in different areas. It also seems like many people have bias according to which medium they encounter first.

Haunted Junction was one of the first gambles I took when buying anime (buying a series I hadn't seen already) and I've been glad I did ever since. The humor is so twisted that I can watch the series and still laugh out loud.
