Late to the party on this. I really enjoyed the first two and episodes, I just wished they didn't spend so much time doing the back story before concluding it. If they trimmed one or two flashback episodeds, they could have resolved the whole butterfly villain.
Not to mention the villain just seems too strong for anyone, except for Noriyuki, who might be able match butterflies with ferrets. What is coming May 3rd? |

really? the fanbase of ga rei zero will not really like ga rei. One is targeted at the guro yuri loving otaku while the latter is more generic shounen, and in reality the manga story just doesn't match the tone of zero, which is why I question them doing zero first and not the shounen first.

I don't agree at all. Let me put it to you this way.
I HATE (with a passion here) completely overblown melancholic stories, whose only purpose (in my mind)is to sting the viewer/reader as hard as it can with sobering pain with the cover of trying to delve into the human consciousness, explore the dark parts of society, blah, blah, blah (now I may be overreacting a bit, but this sounds like 70-80% of people who howl over shounen).... But I can appreciate a story for what it is, but then again, I'm the type that goes for pretty much anything, and I take it from there. The point is that a story can be good or bad whether its seinen or shounen. There are cliches in both. What matters is how the story is handled. "Typical shouenen fare" is a very wide brush you guys are using. It would help others to be more specific. There would be NO Ga-Rei Zero without Ga-Rei, and I ask both anime watchers and manga readers to check out both and see where you fare from there. And to the posters here, let anyone coming in decide for themselves (though I know they will, a wave of bad reviews on the manga can influence others). The only thing cliche here is the 'typical shounen' spiel. And if you make an argument about wasting your precious time, well, you're not really doing anything constructive with it, are you? |
