Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel ~Kyunkyun☆Tokimeki Paradise!!~
This did have an OVA before, and I noticed there wasn't a thread for it. Want to be ready for the season ahead.
快盗天使ツインエンジェル 〜キュンキュン☆ときめきパラダイス!!〜 http://twin-angel.tv/ Like many anime of late, this is based on a series of pachinko games, and looks to be a magical girl series in the slightly more traditional sense. Yukari Tamura, Mamiko Noto and Rie Kugimiya voice the leads. |

Twin Angel 01 - Part-Time Warrior Magical Suzuha Haruka
I'll begin at the beginning - with the OP. Not only does it work the names of the girls into the lyrics, it highlights them when it does so. Usually this practice is highly variable, but Japanese one of those languages where, with the names as imbued with meaning as they are, it's easy enough to do. No origin stories here - Aoi and Haruka are established from the get-go. And no Madoka style anything either. A traditional magical girl series in every aspect of its being. But, the action and the transformation sequences and the general everything feels a lot more fluid and vibrant than the OVA. Not much more than a regular anime, but more motiony. I'm also seeing a stronger focus on Aoi's sizable bosom. From the bouncing on her way to school to that being the place where she stores her Pocketen....Haruka, you're falling flat in that area. This is my first show with NicoNico. I've been a member of the site's Japanese side for some time, but now that they're dipping their hands in the simulcast game, I'll support it. The subs were pretty decent themselves - I only caught one error. |

This sort of show's not my cup of tea (very saccharine with eyecandy), but I'll be hanging around until the Suenaga Mirai cameo at least. I like the nico subs so far, and I find their lack of requiring paid membership for viewing the week of airing, and having none of that community junk that Crunchyroll has, quite agreeable.

I watched this to check out NicoNico's streaming (which was pretty decent). The show itself though -- amazingly terrible. Not sure if I want to stick around to see if it somehow manages to save itself by falling into "so bad it's almost good" territory like Rio Rainbow Gate.

Twin Angel 02 - The Nightmare Dream of a School Life Wrapped in White Fabric
Haruka, Aoi and their classmates spent almost half the episode walking around the school in towels. That's either the subject of a childhood nightmare or a teenage dream. That Salome was able to find an impostor who looks almost exactly like Yuito shows just how odd magical girl universes can be sometimes. Even thought I knew it was coming, there's something satisfying about seeing Haruka fly out of the stratosphere to deliver a Rider Kick to the enemy. (Also, Haruka, if swimming doesn't work out, have you considered joining the breasketball league with Aoi?) They're not wasting much time with Kurumi, it looks like. |
