Just to clarify the summary given by an earlier post:
1) The device wasn't being "jammed", the device they found was a transponder. If used, it would actually help them get around the "jamming" and communicate with the others. 2) The transponder they found was missing two things: a) The battery and b) An antenna. 3) Battery was found on the hunting dog machine. 4) Antenna was found in the girl's bra. This was a test for Kogami. If he were to throw her away/abandon her for his own sake, he would not have gotten the antenna. That was the point. I enjoyed this episode!

I was panicking for Kougami's sake during the last few minutes. Hope they will reach him in time.
That said, I like the growing nakama bond between him and Akane. I can't say I like Gino's obsession about rules and procedures, but I still wish for an episode where they work together like real partners. Props to old man Masaoka for beating some sense into him.

The trap was well set up, the riddle with the transponder was good as well.
Though what would have happened if Kogami killed the blue hunting dog, not the red one? Are batteries attached to both dogs, or did Kogami get lucky and killed the right dog?

Those two investigating a case on their own was not a good idea. Kogami is hellbent on finding his partner's killer.. Seems like they're targeting Akane's friends. The hunt in the sewers, those two psycho's really are sick. That girl was lucky Kogami was with her. It sure was interesting watching this episode.

It turns out all of Kougami's hard core murder hobo combat training is starting to pay off. He's quite a badass to be able to up against a guy with a shotgun and two robot hounds, and run away from the encounter with one of the robots destroyed.
Makishima seems to not have initially let robot Elmer Fud in on that this test is two way. Though I guess Makishima might have some more respect for him since he's taking it with some dignity...though it'll depend on how he meets his end will be the real determining factor. That was quite a neat place to put the radio antenna I'll admit! Have I mentioned Akane has some pretty hot friends? (...hope this one surives though! D: ) Also...Gino sure is being anal retentive about Akane giving him that verbal beat down. "We'll we're gonna go in and shoot Kougami, and if he dies it'll be all your fault because you're STUPID!". tomomi put up with that for about ten seconds! I'm getting the feeling that robot arm of his has quite some heft to it! Everyone sure seemed relieved to find out Kougami calling for help, meaning they probably WON'T have to shoot him. This has been a fucking awesome episode! (I'd like to REALLY emphasize that Yuki is really damn hot)

The plot is moving pretty fast. Makishima wasted no time luring Kogami into a trap and the hunt has already started. As expected, Kogami is holding his own. He's a different beast from the hunter's previous targets. The action was very good, and Kogami got the opportunity to display his smarts once again. He is not only intelligent, he has a swift mind too.
Gino acted like a real asshole this week. There is no other words. I was hoping his recent confrontation with Akane would have calmed him down a bit, but it's exactly the opposite. He needs to chill and stop assuming the worst all the time (I get that he has trust issues, but come on...). Thank god Masaoka was there to defuse the situation.

Anyways, once Shinya will complete his mission finding the missing parts of the transponder (he's already got the battery and the antenna), maybe he'll gradually defeats Senguji.

This episode right here. . .this episode has officially made this show my favorite show of the year (2012) when tomomi grabbed gino and threw him against the wall basically telling him to STFU, I cried in extasy, creamed my pants, opened my eyes, cheered more than I did when Paquiao got wtfpwned. . .it was like the whole episode. . .and past episodes were building up to that shining moment of awesome! the way he grabbed gino reminded me of how a lion grabs her/his cub by the next to set it straight, making it go limp in the process. ..
God, words cannot express how awesome that was! |

oh man, Akane's friend...hope you make it out alive...but I feel a bad premonition for you. T_T
Also, that hunting dog AI was pretty damn smart. It literally looks up by itself to see the spikes and realizes its dangerous and tries to crawl away from it.

So we're back in 'A Very Dangerous Game" territory and it looks like Makishima is playing off Senguji against Kogami, and probably doesn't care if Senguji loses, it's just survival of the fittest.
Although next time Makishima wants to get Kogami's attention, it'll be Akane who's the target, I bet. Highlight was definitely Masaoka lifting up Ginoza and giving him a good talking to before throwing him to one side. Because let's face it, Gino needed that. Kind of adds to the speculation that Masaoka is Ginoza's dad as it had a very parental reprimand feel to it. "Don't be an arse, son!" |

I can't help but think that Gino is slowly going "to the dark side".
He's becoming a bit too hardcore, a bit too extremist. If he doesn't bounce back soon, I think his character trajectory leaves him doomed. Very exciting episode. Great, thrilling hunt. Love the setting for the conflict.
