Could Someone Please Translate This?

Not sure if this is where this would go or not..but anyway..

This is probably the stupidest question ever, but I was curious if any can translate a song from japanese to english? Or even if you know of a place that has it translated.

Anyway -> http://opforum.free.fr/lyric/Wanted!.txt is the lyrics in romanji or whatever.

So yeah, sorry for the stupid thread, but I was just really curious as to what the lyrics ment..(even if you only translate a verse or two, it's all appreaciated)

Thanks!

I am pretty sure that Live-eviL has some kind of thing going where you can go to their irc channel and make a translation request. The channel info is available on the AnimeSuki site, or go to their Web forum and check there.

Song lyrics require a fairly experienced translator; the phrases can be very short, leading to ultra-vagueness.

Okay, here's my guess to the translation:

WANTED! WANTED! Friends of the free world!
WANTED! WANTED! The world's greatest feeling!
Who are you?
I am Monkey D. Rufi
The man who's going to be the pirate king!

In the beginning, there was a time (pintto) came.
You became my comrade.

In the beginning, I longed to fulfil a dream I saw.
Now I have confidence. Because it was impossible by myself.

Anything you can't see in the middle of the ocean
Don't be unreasonable, because I'm going mad (??)
So surely, whatever there is
don't be unreasonable, the great hero is...

WANTED! WANTED! Friends of the free world!
WANTED! WANTED! The world's greatest adventure!
Put meat in my mouth.
I am Monkey D. Rufi
The man who's going to be the pirate king.

I believe whatever you say.
Because you are my comrade.

Whatever great victories, it's just a (something) thing.
If I am obstinate, I won't lose to anyone.

To whoever doesn't know the sea's end,
I will bring the beauty and overflowing dreams
So surely, sorry, but I have to go
and bring the beauty before it dissapears.

DISLAIMER: Everything here is a guess. Most of it is probably incorrect.

Anytime. I'm still learning myself. Not easy to understand sometimes since they use all those slangy stuff in animes that you'll never find in a textbook.

it's "arimasen"
i think it's "to not be"
like:
A: "You're not even trying!"
B: "Arimasen!" (something like "no i'm not!")

Arimasen is a word to end negative sentances to mean (in literal terms) "I don't have..."

example: hon (w)o arimasen. [Literaly: I don't have the/a book]

The meaning is more subject to what the context of the conversation was about.

Shit = Kuso(u)
Dammit= I have no clue, you could be close.
Wow = waa (as stated above) add "sugoi" to it and you have "Waa sugoi!"
Which comes out as (depending on how much emotion put into it) "That's really freeken cool!!!"

Hope that wasn't too confusing, I study Japanese in college and alot of what you think you learn from anime about the language is not 100% right. Subtitleing of the anime is not always accurate either, I've seen a few instances where they changed the meaning from what was really said because it wouldn't make sence in English if translated literaly, but you probaly knew that already.

A lot of times, "arimasen" is used with "dewa" or "ja" to give a negative meaning to a sentence.

Nihon-jin ja arimasen. = I am not Japanese

Gakusei dewa arimasen = I am not a student

Natto ga suki ja arimasen = I dont like natto

Well, stuff like that rarely have a direct translation. So when you see 'whoa' damnit' or 'cool' in the subs, there's dozens of words the actual dialogue might be using.

remove -ru, add -masen to the verb and you'll obtain a negative and quite-polite form.
F.E. Taberu=to eat Tabemasen=(I, you exc.) don't eat

Must say I'm learning a lot of informal phrases from fansubs ^__^

chikusho really means beast but it seems to be used whenever an English speak would use 'damnit!'. Because of the frivicative thing or whatever you call it, it always ends up sounding like chksho. If you'd like a really literal translation, then babelfish is pretty good.

Some others would be (non-literal translations):
"I'm f***ed!/ Oh crap!" -> shimata!
"Thank god!" -> Yokatta~
"Don't care." -> shiranai~

Dropping -ru for -masen is a rather simple way of putting it. There are -ru verbs which follow a different rule. The most common one would be aru -> arimasen.
