Here's my ideas on how the playable characters of Persona 5 should look like, at least in my dreams anyway...

Main protagonist: Male, early 20's, college/university student, Lovers arcana
Hero's younger sister: Female, 16-17 years old, high school student, Priestess arcana
Boyfriend of hero's younger sister: Male, 16-17 years old, high school student, Justice arcana
Hero's possible love interest: Female, early to mid 20's, office worker, Temperance arcana
Leader of a biker gang: Male, early to mid 20's, biker gang leader, Devil arcana
Young officer: Male, early 20's, police officer, Emperor arcana
Former pop star: Female, mid 20's, former pop singer, Star arcana

Errr... well personally I think it's a thematic reason why the MC of 3 and 4 start with Fool, work their way up to Universe/World, but essentially are not bound by the limitations of each Arcana.

well, in Persona 3 and 4. (Not sure on P1 and 2, 2IS since I haven't played them yet)
we were given the idea that the MCs are commanding their respective party members on what to do.
Remember that we have the option to let them "Do as they please", "Knock down the enemy"... etc
But what we usually use is that we manually pick their actions.

This week's of ANN's X Button did a contest about what Persona 5 should be about, and there were quite a number of good entries (plus a few joke ones):

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/the-x-button/2013-07-24

I'll go through them to see which of them caught my eye.

All the recent posts related to Atlus have been moved to a new thread. If you wish to discuss this topic further, please post there and let this thread remain focused on P5.

In turn-based systems people like to fight like real French gentlemen, lol.
"Let me throw this lightning spell at you, my dear sir. TAKE SOME!!! Very well, it's your turn now. But let me return to my original position first."

This game is taking so long to get released. People don't realize it, but it's taking almost as long as FFXV. I remember there's a thread here when I posted in 2010, and the game was announced already. I just hope it's coming for the PS3. I remember Atlus saying they were testing the waters with Catherine first before they made another HD game. On the other hand, in the very beginning of 3DS they said they were making a Persona game for it as well, but it seems this promise has died. Unless they're planning some unconventional PS3/3DS dual release.

I'm gonna get so disappointed if they move it to PS4, since I bought my PS3 mainly because of this game, and Versus XIII. And also The Last Guardian, lol. FFXV is taking so long, it's reaching Duke Nukem Forever levels already. And The Last Guardian isn't giving any indication of coming anytime soon either. Talk about getting struck two times by a lightning, lol. There are a ton of other games I love which I'm playing now, but still...

By the way, have you seen this site: http://p-ch.jp/
I wonder what it's about. Something big is coming, I've got the feels!

Persona5.jp Domain Registered

Quote:
A few months back, Atlus (formerly Index, now Sega) put up a teaser site that's Persona-related. Thanks to NeoGAF member MysticDistance, the domain PERSONA5.JP was just registered today in Japan by Index Corporation. Does this mean that Persona 5 will be revealed very soon? Or does this mean Atlus will be announcing even more Persona related games? Stay tuned on November 24th when the site's countdown runs out.
Thanks SidVicious for the link

seems like the announcement on Sunday is Persona 4 related, rather than a new one

would they have done English voice work this early?

International demand for the Persona franchise is pretty damn high for a JRPG series so I wouldn't say it's completely out of the question. Not Final Fantasy level, but definitely up there.

Dunno what to make of this if it's true though. Isn't Arena already a continuation of the P3/P4 story arc? I guess there are still possibilities, like having a huge time-skip so that there are new characters featured, just with the same concepts and setting as P4 had. (Inaba and Midnight Channel etc.)

Yeah, I think Arena revisiting the P3 and P4 stories is enough.

I'd rather Persona 5 be its completely separate entity with maybe a few ties to its predecessors.

Karen Strassman of all people, eh? Set in the future with MCXNanako as the 'true route'? I don't mind at all.

Thing is, she's had those for months according to many. Pretty sure it's not true.
Above all it's from English VA.

I think it's just there for the sake of being there... it'll be P5.

Also, the site now says 'Persona Big Announcement!' http://p-ch.jp

Confirmation its a live countdown to Sunday:
Quote:
Atlus has launched a Nico Nico live stream page for its upcoming announcement this Sunday, which an update on the p-ch.jp teaser site tonight confirms will be a “big Persona announcement.”

The stream will kick off ahead of the Sunday reveal this Thursday, November 21, from 20:00 Japan time, with a 72 hour countdown leading up to the announcement.

If all this Persona 4-2 hints was a big smokescreen, then it's a very well done one

That being said- Teddie replace Igor for P5 *troll*

Igor's the only character who's consistently appeared in every single Persona game. It'd be absurd to replace him.

I have to wonder if the Teddies that appear on the teaser site actually have any relevance to what'll be announced.

They probably have to replace him considering how reluctant they are to even recast him, what with his original Japanese VA being dead.

Eh I guess I wouldn't put it past them. I know voice acting is a much bigger deal over in Japan than it is here in North America. Still, it seems pretty silly to completely remove/replace a vital character just because the person who did their voice passes away, and it's not like I haven't seen re-casting in Japanese media before because of it.

Persona 4-2 or whatever was debunked by Atlus PR a little while ago in the neoGAF thread. He posted an image of a red herring- that should be telling enough.

And now one of there insiders...

Think about it- Persona 5 Velvet Room would be a slow train-- THE SLOW TRAIN!
