Dengeki Daisy

I've been reading this manga for months and was wondering why I never saw a thread of the manga at the forums. After a few search functions I'm astounded not to find one, so I decided to make one. Heres a basic summary from Mangareader.

Quote:
“No matter what happens, I’ll protect you.” Teru, who lost her only remaining relative, her older brother, is cheered on by a mail from an enigmatic person, DAISY, who she can contact via the cellphone her brother gave her. One day, through an unexpected incident, Teru ends up working as a servant for the delinquent school janitor, Kurosaki. But this scoundrel, Kurosaki is really…!?
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Mystery (sort of)

Anyway just wanted to say that the latest scanlated chapter was intense and just as good as this manga has gotten recently.

Personally this is my favorite on going shoujo title at the moment. I've thought about making a thread in the past, though didn't know anyone was reading it, so i didn't bother.

Dengeki Daisy is definately one of the best shoujos ever, the art is simply beautiful (and the mangaka is man!).

At first when i read the summary before starting the manga i thought it was another shoujo full of cliches, but it mixes very good those moments of drama with comedy (especially Teru's scenes, Kurosaki get bold!) and it also makes you want to know more about Daisy and all the things related to Teru's brother (he really was hilarious)

about chapter 41...
Spoiler for 41:

Yeah chapter 26 is the most recently translated chapter I can find. It's been a slow process for this manga sadly.

Also, Kurosaki is GAR. This fact is not debatable.

everybody gets surprised when they find out that the author is a man
he is called Kyousuke Motomi and apart from Dengeki Daisy other manga he is also known for another shoujo: Beast Master

it's really a shame that the translation is pretty slow for this manga, especially the lastest chapters which have revealed lots of things but hey at least we get some of the chapters

the chapters (from 27 to 41) which aren't translated i read them from the summaries that some people make

if you google it you will find it^^ (one of the pages i read from has raw downloads links so i don't know if i am allowed to post it)

"GAR" isn't the term i'd use for him.

& i need to read Beast Master. It's been on my 'to do list' for a while now.

Beast Master is only a single volume IIRC. Not a one shot but a full story. Pretty good for something that short.

And what term would you describe Kurosaki with?

Actually it's two volumes. I just haven't got around to buying it yet.

A well written character? Either way i just don't like the term "GAR", so i don't use it.

I read several chapters of this quite a while back, but never really got interested in it and sort of stalled and then dropped it. It seems that just about everywhere I go though everyone seems to be giving this manga really high ratings. Based on what I've read it probably wouldn't even be in my top 50...

How many chapters would I need to read for it to win me over? ...or is this manga just extremely over-hyped?

Well you know what they say, preferences (fortunately) do differ just like taste. Maybe this (type of romance) manga isn't down your alley, but I do consider Dengeki Daisy as one of the best romance manga's out there, for both the (strong) male and female lead and their (lovely) chemistry. I'd say give it a shot reading up to chapter 14 "Secret" and then decide to continue or drop it.

I'd say one of the best/finest male leads in a (shoujo) romance manga, probably even lonely at the top, because there aren't that many serious competitors for Kurosaki without awful (cliched and milked) flaws like being an abusive, cheating bad boy/jerk who's only way to show affection to the (in most cases) apathetic and weak female lead is to treat her badly/violently and molest her (willingly).

Wow, I honestly thought I was the only one who reads Dengeki Daisy..

But, am I the only one hoping for at least a OVA? Well, after they get some more chapters out, but I think it would be pretty popular as a OVA or a anime..

Having read through what is available it really is an interesting read. It was unexpected to find it delving into the realm of guilt and the conscience - a teensy bit a 'la "Crime and Punishment". I haven't come across that in many manga....

Agreed ... this one is really dragging it out - but not it a "bad" way, I guess (at least for me - I will keep reading it for a while still).
