Ashita no Joe

I just wanted to say thanks to Anime Suuxe-den for releasing this series. I've been wanting to see it for years. I haven't watched the ep yet, but I hope the translation is a bit better then Ginga... No offence. I loved Ginga! Thanks for releasing that as well

Yeah, the Ashita no Joe manga is great and so is the anime.

I'm surprised at how good the animation is, even though it's quite old-school it looks better then some of the shows coming out now. *cough* Ring ni Kakero *cough*

It's old school animation but there's a certain style to the animation that lends it the grittiness. You need at least 8 episodes to really let it get into stride. Once it does, hang on tight, it's gonna be a great ride

Great classic series. Have the manga and the R2 DVDs. Do note that the "Ashita no Joe" series ends at approximately 2/3 of the manga. You need to watch "Ashita no Joe 2" to complete the remainder of the manga. The first 10-12 episodes of the 2nd season redoes the last third of the 1st season. Understandable as there is a 10 year gap between 1st season (1970-71) and 2nd season (1980-81). But what a finish to the manga and the anime series.

Awesome!! Thank you Anime Suuxe-den.

I hope you guys can stick with the series. Lot of time I see groups resurrecting old series only to drop them after a few episodes.

This is like a dream come true for me! =). I've longed so much for this release.

Hm? Strange, I happen to like the whistling. I guess it's a way for him to comfort his troubled soul. Poor Joe. =(
I have two soundtracks on LP. If there's a huge demand for the OST, I can "rip" it.

By the way... isn't it against the rules to have series released in the west listed for download? Silverfang is licensed in Scandinavia.

Now I've seen the first episode.
The translation was fair. Joe Yabukis name was spelled in the wrong order (Yabuki Joe) and An-chan was not translated. Also, the Yakuza:s knives were too short to be called swords, in my opinion. Details details. =P. I would give the translation 2 points of 5. It's a lot better than the bootleg DVD that are being sold. I sure hope you didn't use it as a source.
Continue with this project! This is a classic in Japan, and I hope it's going to be a hit in the digisub community too.
I hope nobody will get the ending spoiled, because I did! =(

That's right. I got a little sad when Aim for the ace! was dropped. =(. Another classic from the same era as Ashita no Joe.

Translation choice between going Japanese style "Family name" "Given Name" and Western style "Given Name" "Family Name", isn't it? I don't think either one is correct or incorrect as long as consistency is maintained.

The western style is more "correct" since it's used in official translations of games, and in transcribations of newspapers.
Heck, even the japanese artist use the given name - family name order when they write their name with latin letters.

Yeah, long time no see. =). So you're on this project too?

Seems like it, since it has been removed from Animesuki's list. It's a pity really. I really wanted to show it to a friend who seemed interested. Oh well... at least it's listed as ACTIVE PROJECT on ILA's homepage... even though there has been no new episodes in months.

Jag förstår (I see).
It's good for the english viewers even if some swedes might prefer it over the official release. It's too bad, since the economy for the publisher Ozonmedia could've been better.

You're probably getting Ashita no Joe 1 and 2 confused.

The first 4 episodes of Ashita no Joe 2 were fansubbed by another group and now the first episode of Ashita no Joe 1.

I hope everything is going well. It says on their homepage they have some problems with finding a translator. I would gladly do it if it weren't for my lacking skills in understanding spoken japanese.

It's a shame no group wants to sub this series. Specially with the great quality R2 DVDS available.
Someone sub ashita no joe, it deserves to be subbed!
