Well, was not expecting one of the main cast members to actually die this fast. And just when they found new success after testing their new skills, an ambush quickly ended with that short-lived period of happiness. I wonder who is going to take the leader role with Manato gone, because Haruhiro simply doesn't has what it takes yet.

Putting aside of mage girl he managed bond with everyone and he was apparently one in charge if Manato burial. Whether he is ready to not he has no choice but learn fast, because he will either became leader or let party fell apart.

There is no 'auto attack'. A slash is a slash. A technique is a refined move taught by a more experienced person. Much like how sports sometimes have names for certain moves/maneuvers cause they're used often and are more effective. The only additional detail here would be the flair they add to their moves when they use them. Obvious exception would be when they actually call on an external force to use their skills, such as Ranta's demon, or some kind of magic. Other than that, I really liked this episode. As I have the past ones. Admittedly, the death flag was made unbearably obvious, but it didn't make it any less painful to see. Also. Haru's screams after getting pegged by those bolts made ME wince as if I could feel the pain myself. Well done. Lastly, Yume's rambling were downright adorable. I love her.

I'm actually not surprised that Manato got killed. I had sensed death flags waving over him based on how he was presented in the past episodes. What I am surprised about was how soon he died. Only 4 eps in and one of the MCs already keeled over.
Last episode, I was just thinking how carefree they were, wandering around that ghost town full of goblins. I thought they should be more careful/cautious since they could be attacked as well. So I was wondering how unrealistic they were behaving and bam! they got ambushed and one got killed this ep. Yup, just as I thought/feared. It's a two-way street in that world. The goblins aren't the only ones who can get killed. Now these guys learn that the hard way. I feel sorry for Manato...he was a really nice guy. I wonder if death in this world truly means they're dead or do they get sent back to wherever they were from? That will be interesting to find out later, hopefully. ...and now they lack a healer. They should have had a back-up healer in case something like this happens. Often times, healers can't heal themselves. =_=

Yum is adorable. The whole Osaka ben dialect that she uses just makes everything so much better. It's pretty amazing when she goes on and on and on like when she did about her dream and when she was contemplating what was right and what was wrong about them peeping on the girls.
I haven't read the LN nor do I know any spoilers but is it just me but it feels like in this new world that they were born into it's as if all of the kids were unfortunate kids of some sort. Perhaps they died in their previous lives and now are reborn here? Possible explanations: 1) Yume always eats fast so perhaps she never got enough to eat in her previous life? 2) Mankato apparently likes to drink and is the older of the bunch. Perhaps an alcoholic or met his demise due to that? 3) Shihoru appears to be timid and have a self image issue with being overweight. Perhaps she was picked on or bullied in her previous life. Any other predictions? |

This week was amazing once again. This show is so powerful and does such a great show conveying feelings. I already knew something was going to happen with Manato since one of the theme song covers has all the party on it except him, but it still hit me really hard. I really liked him (as well all the other characters, really) and they made sure to let us know he was everything for the group and that it will be really hard for them to survive without him.
...anyway, as inevitable as it is, I really hope they won't take too long to recover from his death because it already took us 1/3 of the show to see them improve a little, and if we have to see them start from 0 all over again it will get tedious really fast. They have done a wonderful job with pacing and story telling so far so I want to believe this won't be a problem though. |

And Ranta of all people had no business objecting. The idiot never shuts up, and practically nothing he says is of use.

so you're allowed to spout nonsense as long as it's cute? oh boy do i love the double standards against hard asses while moe blobs are considered infallible. whether or not a character is likable shouldn't determine whether or not they are allowed to do and say stupid shit and waste time. it's either they all get a pass or no one does. otherwise we get more stuff like the noob-squad from log horizon 2 as for whether or not ranta says anything of use, this episode alone says otherwise. when shihoru had the "bright idea" of meditating to help manato, ranta rightfully says eff that. in fact that whole scene shows ranta being the only one besides haruhiro saying practical ideas when it comes to first aid. manato himself points out that ranta is always the first one in the thick of it. he may be a complete ass and a perv but when the chips are down, he's doesn't freeze up and lose the ability to use his brain like yume(because telling a guy that 'he's scared too' when he's the only one fighting the goblin in episode 2 is so useful.) & shihoru(never says anything period because she's too busy pissing herself, and when she finally does it's a total brain fart.) see the second and third paragraph. if the group can point out ranta's faults, then he should be able to point out theirs, it goes both ways. you cant have pot/kettle with just the kettle. i just dont agree with this mindset that moeblobs should get a pass for their faults just because some one is worse off. and what's funny is that for all his vain braggery and insults, ranta never criticizes others during crunch-time except to tell them to shut up and focus, and never harps on them about it later. take the episode 2 scanario and reverse the rolls and you wouldn't here the end of haruhiro mentally criticizing ranta for standing around. and he definitely would have as ranta points out in episode 2 that haruhiro is always harping on him(though for good reason).

I mean it's obvious that Manato is going to die, and I don't have a problem with it. However the way the author pulls it makes him feel like a throwaway trash after serving his purpose, and it annoys me even more so with the interest part. Sure, his death will serve as a trigger push the party to develop, but what about himself? Nothing, like usual. Imo I think Manato can actually be interesting once the author breaks out his "perfect" shell, but nope. Really, Manato at least deserves a little more than this, oh well... |
