I'm just curious if the Hero movie is out in other countries yet, and if there are English subtitles. Hopefully I can get it imported or something, somehow...

It does not have a region 1 release yet. But there is a version you can import with english subs and its not a bootleg, been out for a long time. You're going to just have to do a google search to find it.

Anyone that's chinese or asian for that matter had this movie for over 2 years already.

According to DVDPacific, it has a release date of 30th Nov 2004. Here are the details, HERO (2002) / (SUB), (not much) but it would seem to be a R1 release. More details at Amazom, here, which at least confirms it's a R1 release.

Having just seen this at the cinema today, I must say I'll be looking forward to this release.

Hero came out in china a LONG time ago, and so did the DVD version of it. Before the movie even came out (here in the states) I downloaded it of "some site" with english subtitles, and trust me, it's better off that I didn't go to the theatre to see it.

The german DVD is out for a while (no english subtitles says amazon).

I liked Hero when I saw it in theatre, but my pals hated it.
The pictures in this movie are very beautiful but it is not for everyone.
The story is poetical and it is not for people who attach big importance to realism.
