Visual novel 'Island' is getting a TV anime adaptation based on the PC games by Front Wing / PROTOTYPE.

Plot Summary:

Urashima, an island far from the mainland. The people who live there lead carefree lives. But five years ago, the island's three great families suffered a series of misfortunes, and succumbed to suspicion. The people of the island cut off all contact with the mainland, and began a slow decline. The key to saving the island lies in three girls who belong to the three families. But they are bound by old traditions, and are conflicted. On that island, a lone man washes ashore. The man claims to be from the future, and he begins a solitary struggle to change the island's fate.

In the game's world, the island is closed off to outside contact due to a local disease known as "Baimonbyō" (Soot Crest Sickness) that was transmitted from the mainland. On the island, there is a legend of a tragic love between a boy named Setsuna, and a girl named Rinne. With the appearance of two individuals bearing the same name, the islanders ponder the legend's significance

Saw it coming since they decided go multimedia so of course an anime was going to happen.

Frontline are the same holders of Grisaia series so we can see where this came from.

First episode of the Summer season is out!

Episode 1:

Well I guess it was okay but there's a lot of questions that needs answers. In particular, what's the main purpose of the MC so far? He seems to have lost his memories based on first impressions of the episode.

I'm also guessing he has some connections with the main girls so far, especially the one that sung the song at the end.

Well at least this gives a Summer feeling so far for the show and the setting stays honest with itself. (taking place on an Island that is)

That's pretty much archetypal old-school visual novel adaptation. Though I suspect no matter how adorably the miko trying to kill me had failed, I'd be "Er.. You know that trip to the mainland? When do we go?"

I'll give it a few more episodes.

Nice animation but seems story will be a mess..is the protagonist trullly a robot? or one of the lolis?

VN adapations are rare these days for some reason, and I like the character designs, so I'm definitely going to watch it, even if the first episode was just mystery mystery mystery and a bit of character introduction. We get that this is one of those types of "closed environment mystery" things, at least.

To be honest, since I don't know the world setting of this anime, it is hard to guess what is going on (because a mystery isn't really worth thinking about when anything goes), but let's see...

-The protagonist is from the future
-Rinne is either a vampire, or from the looks of the ED, she's like a shadow of her original self or something.
-The loli is someone the protagonist knew from the future, but I can't imagine why their hairstyles/color look so similar
-The tsundere girl is the "normal girl" slot in the whole thing
-Rinne's mom is clearly an important character

That wasn't bad. Yeah it was mystery upon mystery, but hey for the first episode that seems fine. Mostly since the layering of mysteries was actually rather interesting.

The main character seems rather entertaining. A pretty amusing guy who handles his odd situation in a way that had me chuckling a good amount of the time. There's a lot to unpack with the various flashbacks and his own fragmented memories. Mostly at this point interested in his connection with Rinne.

If nothing else the episode was a good hook. I want to see where things go from here. And hey if a first episode can at least have me curious to see more, then it's in decent shape.
