Was I the only one who was reminded of some of the scenes with Noh-Face in Spirited Away there? And the spirits want livers, not hearts, since they believe that they contain magical powers, funny to see that it's not just humans who have really strange beliefs about what's good for you.

I can see how Enzo might feel that way, but in my opinion, the biggest difference between both is the dynamic following the 'night with girl' scene.
With Nurarihyon, because You-hime is the meek, sheltered princess type of girl, the pressure's significant on Nurarihyon's side to make the moves, speak the gentle words by her ears and makes her hot and bothered with his uncouth, rebel bad boy style. With Rikuo, he's doing it as the mysterious protecting friend, doing it to show her a good time, but also with some intent that Kana keeps her distance. Of course, it backfires with Kana having developed a crush on Yoruo. Similar enough? I would agree... to an extent. But the key difference in the make-up of the 2 is that... how it emotionally affects the associated characters after the exposure to the Nurarihyon playboy aura. You-hime is obviously fascinated by Nurarihyon, but tries to hide it because of fear of the unknown and the fact that maybe she's only desired for her power. She's not expressive about it, but it's pretty obvious that she welcomes Nurarihyon's presence every night. While it is Nurarihyon that physically seeks her out, it is her heart that longs for Nurarihyon's presence... just because. On the other hand.... outside of a bare minimal appearance... Kana's crush remains the most obscure of character subplots. She 'likes' Yoruo... but that's all. It's like a one sentence mention in a huge novel, it has shown no real relevance or any sign of developing relevance. Now... which other female character is shown to be fascinated by him, has a developing subplot in regards to her fascination and engages with him in a battle of understanding one another, this time in Rikuo's generation? Yura.

It's more the disdain the manga fanbase has for Kana, I think Yura fans wouldn't mind YukiOnna winning and vice versa but heads will roll if Kana will win. Heck a lot of vitriol directed @ S1 was Kana's screentime being trumped up.
Anyway Nightengale summed up the situation perfectly. |

Awesome episode. This season is times better then the first one, both in terms of animation and story. This episode was one of the most captivating i seen this week, and i seriously did not expect it from this show. Though change of tone for a while might probably turn some fans that prefer a more easygoing mood off.

Surprised that no one else posted this yet, an interview with the new director.
