latest in the Singaporean dog saga :

Baey says sorry for hurting S'poreans' feelings

How long more until Singapore becomes a SAR of China, then part of an Islamic caliphate of SEA due to Malaysia/Indonesia conquering us as a political/religious threat?

And here is a read for foreigners who still think that our meritocracy is real :

[GLGT] Scholarships for foreigners, debts for Singaporeans

P.S : I am one of those who cannot do university thanks to the humungous debt I have to bear upon graduation, and the inherent risk of not being able to find a job to pay it off. Though I wish I can blame my parents for being financial idiots for not buying endowment plans for me, they love me too much and I can't bear to do so. I don't know about how long I have to slog to get the money for a degree, however I think real-life experience SHOULD be worth more.

I hope I am right. Please pray that I am.

Davy Jones died, source bbc news
Probable cause is heart attack.
If you don't know who he was, he was one of the member of the monkees, a fictional TV band, that became a real band.

Sad news indeed, and another reminder of our own mortality. I enjoyed their music when I was a kid.

This is ...well, I can see the US having an "internet wall" put around it by the Rest Of The World if this keeps up.

People in the US are able to gamble using this site... ph33r the W3b, ya know, cuz it ignores national boundaries.

The US legal system is starting to develop a serious Pax Romana kind of belligerence to match our 'foreign policy' attitudes :P Next I suppose we'll be prosecuting people somewhere on the planet who have a lower age-of-consent than we do (oh wait, that varies from state to state.... arrest them all!)

So a Dane lost his money in an international deal because he used an American transaction method as means of payment, and thus got caught up with American laws about trade embargos. Basically if Denmarck was on the Euro, that would not have happened, but since international trade uses the US Dolllar, it got caught in the system.

I wonder it the legal firms consider it money laundering or something. To buy Cuban cigars from outside the country using US Dollars to be shipped outside the country. The cigars will likely never touch US soil, but were paid for in US Dollars.

Hmmmm.

How on earth is rescinding a requirement for truth-in-advertising a "victory for free speech"? Commercial representations aren't "free speech" and may be regulated to be required to be truthful. There's a century or two of judicial precedent for regulating how commercial and business represents its products. Imagine that...

I'm sure Britain's Imperial Tobacco Group Plc is having a happy moment though....

This is called free speech laws being abused. Though as if the tobacco health labels helped anyway.
