Smile Mizuiro Jidai

kk this series has no discussion thread and being my first post, hopefully some people also like this series and have some interest in answering a question i have:

since i'm a sucker for romance and love in anime i've seen the first 5 eps of mizuiro jidai and i would be pretty much hooked - if i could have gotten the whole series. but as it stands, looks like the whole series just isn't subbed by anyone and too old to get raws off the net. i wonder, how many people have watched this/ want to watch it / have heard of it?

so, the thing is, all i want to know, from someone who's watched the whole series, any such person exists........... what happens to everyone at the end?

i heard it's a very "sad" ending.... does that mean yuuko and hiroshi have to part ways at the end of school or something? and what happens to everyone else...

anyway, maybe some people have answers for my questions?
thanks

Well, the show has been traditionally fansubbed upto episode twelve by Techno Girls and we at Aikousha have managed to release upto episode eight (nine is on it's way!). We're slow, unbelievably so, but there's no chance of us running out of raws since we have the R2 DVDs. We will finish this series... one day!

How it ends? Why would I tell you that? I've read the manga (both mizuiro jidai and shin mizuiro jidai) so I'll say this much, if it follows the manga it'll be a good ending. ^^

Note: I consider a 'good' ending one that brings the series a sense of completion.

i liked this series, but since its taking forever for episodes to get subbed (last releas was back in june!!!) i dropped it. I am tempted to see if i can get the maga scanlated from somewhere.

Groupe Virelai has recently finished the first 22 episodes of Mizuiro Jidai. As they don't don't do digisubs, but only distribute fansubs on tape or DVD, those interested will have to place their requests somewhere. Mokkori Ippai is one possible place.

oh cool! you actually have the R2 dvds is that the ENTIRE SERIES?... i heard they're pretty bad quality... but source footage is source footage and since they're not licensed... i guess i'll trust you guys to bring them out eventually.

i don't really care how long it takes, as long as i know that one day before i die i'll get to know what happens in the end of mizuiro jidai, so that i don't drop the series now and regret it later :P cos i've got ur ep 7 and 8 torrents queued up but wasn't sure if i would dl them... but now i will!

wait.. if it takes this long to sub... man it really might be when i'm old and grey by the time this thing finishes eh. hehe oh well...

and yeah by a good ending i mean a complete ending too e.g. bebop was a good ending but just that at this point at ep 5 i can't see any good ending apart from them staying together. as the characters develop later i'm sure i'll form different opinions.

Mizuiro Jidai

Episode 9 of the show is out. We're slowly but surely catching up to Aikousha (who seemed to stop at episode 10).

Enjoy.

Speaking of which, what's up with Aikousha? They haven't released a single thing in ages, and their website is down.

Is ANYONE still subbing this? It was one of my favorites, back in the day when the Techogirls were fansubbing it (and gave up also).

I found raw DVD rips of the entire series.... so, I'm willing to try and sub it if someone can translate it....

Dropped because of the lack of subs.

This doesn't look like it's dropped anymore. Apparently Aikousha did 1-3 in 2002, then 4-6 in 2003, 7-8 in 2004, 9-10 in 2005. It would be ideal if there was a 1-10 batch for their work.

Lunar came along in 2004 and did 4-5, 6-7 in 2005, 8-10 in 2006. I guess they also did 1-3 at some point because a 1-10 of their work was released January 17, 2011 to re-ignite the series.

Kiteseekers came in a little over a week after that and subbed episodes 11-22. 11-15 should've already been up by the time Karin posted, and 16 came out 5 days after that, so I dunno what she was talkin' bout, lol.

The last 2 releases were this very October so it is still actively being subbed, thank you Kiteseekers.

Yes, thank you Kiteseekers! I appreciate your diligent work to make this classic available to the English-speaking world.
