I know it's just a figure of speech, but I still find it annoying - China isn't remotely close to"own" half of the US.

And it cuts both ways, the Chinese holding of US debt would hurt them just as bad should they decide to use it as a weapon against the US.

it would be worst,

the US could go into a depression and still survive but the current Chinese government would not make it out of a depression.

Is it an act of piracy if you board a ship in international disputed water, and force them to yield to your demand?

Piracy is like robbery.

It'll be funny if they take the ships in custody while forcing the crew to walk the plank....

No, because piracy by definition means that the ones that boarded do not answer to a higher authority, such as a state.

This.

With such idiots in place, everyone should slam the door into the PRC's faces on the diplomatic field for starters.

Tell that to people like Lee Hsien Long. "Our paycheck is more important than your pride" is probably their mantra.

Kira, you are 29, you are too old to be that naive.

In international politics, there are no morals or ethics, no enemies or friends.
Today's friend is potentially tomorrows enemies
Today's enemies is potentially tomorrows friend
Morals and Ethics has NEVER matter in the past and will NEVER matter in the future.

But what matters is the present. We can't predict the future in first place. Letting them do what they want will just make things worst.

Everyone what is best for themselves today, that i agree

I am responding to Kira's question about why other county are still dealing with China.

The obvious answer is of course because they got something to gain form it too.

I see... hehe.

Anyway, I got no or less interest in China's economic expansion( I suck in Economics BTW). Whether it relates to that expansion we are dealing with territories here that can't be ignored. They're claiming islands and now the sea or everything that has "China" labelled on it....

They wouldn't need to go to Venesuela to have a foothold in America

Police have doubts to either fire a pistol. Put a soldier there and you got war...
