Well, the episode was called "Samurai Flamenco Naked" and it did exactly what it said on the tin.
Masayoshi proposing to Goto and promising to do everything for him his girlfriend would have was excellent. All in all a good way to wind the show up. Kaname running the Flamenco Museum, MMM back on stage and the Flamenco Girls still out there kicking... well you know what they're kicking, and Masayoshi back to where he started, chasing people for littering... It's been a wild and enjoyable ride and I wouldn't have missed a second of it. |

This final was hilarious
This isn't the kind of stuff we could have seen in just any series. This show truly was one of a kind. I'm satisfied with the way the story concluded, but I wish Goto got closure. He's still not over his girlfriend, as the last minute proved. I was a bit surprised there was no twist about Goto's girlfriend, she just plain disappeared. Not a bad show overall, but I wouldn't say it's good either. The cast was nice, but the story was often too crazy for its good. That's what makes it so unique though. 6/10.

The episode was pretty good and mostly awkward. Stripping and proposing... What the heck? And in the end Goto didn't recover? I can't tell if that's "Dude funny!" or "Dude, not funny!".

There should have been a scene where Mari gets back to the hospital, sees Moe and Mizuki awaken up and healthy, cute reunion and hugs, then Mari kisses Moe (as usual)... only to have Mizuki tells Mari that the poison might still be in their bodies. Scene ends with Mari freaking out and panicking.
Not much, but that would have been funny as ever XD. |

well at least it was a new kind of ending I really wanted Gotou to get over his loss and start his life again. he took the first step but we won't know whether he will take the other steps. it would have been better if Mari played a bigger role here.

Honestly, the ending was pretty disappointing, albeit funny. The whole naked thing was awful, Gotou still isn't over his girlfriend, even though this actually set it up perfectly so Masayoshi could've said "You're not alone anymore". Which really would've wrapped his obsession up nicely, because the last piece of her was finally gone. So that was terrible too.
Also extremely disappointed that Masayoshi didn't realize Sumi's feelings, which was also set up perfectly. He could've developed character by actually trying to figure out what love is by dating her. Failing to execute many of these points dropped the overall score for me. |

No, Masayoshi/Gotou is not an OTP. There's no reason whatsoever to think that Gotou is gay or bi-sexual. In fact, Gotou's backstory (which was one of the better and more compelling parts of the final episode) shows just how utterly attached he was to his girlfriend.
I have to agree with takai - It was a disappointing ending in most respects. There was no reason for Hazama to get naked. It was totally silly and unwarranted. Pretty much the entire climatic scene was silly, only rescued at all by Mari kicking some ass. This is honestly the most disappointing anime ending I've seen in quite some time, given how much I've liked and defended this show. I now wish the show had simply ended at the end of the Alien Flamenco arc. That would have made a much better ending than this, imo.

I get what they're aiming for symbolically here, and it's what you say it is. But taking off his shirt would have been enough for that alone. Let me be clear - I'm not saying this finale ruins Samurai Flamenco for me. I will still have mostly fond memories of this show, and I still hold it in high esteem overall. In a day or so, I'll probably be over this ending. I just found it particularly disappointing given how strong their various arc endings were - The King Torture arc, the From Beyond arc, and the Alien Flamenco arc, all had excellent endings, imo.

But he wasn't in public, he was in his own apartment for crying out loud.
It's also pretty obvious that his confession to Gotou was sincere, if ill-thought out. There's no point in having Gotou question it and Masayoshi affirm its sincerity otherwise. Nor did the ending mean that Gotou was in love with Masayoshi. It just left the door open for that sort of future development. (And, there's certainly evidence that it's not as impossible as you'd think. Otherwise there would be no reason for Gotou's invisible mental girlfriend to show obvious jealous over him talking about Masayoshi too much.) In other words, this was probably one of the only plot threads in Samurai Flamenco with enough evidence and build up to carry itself to the logical, wedding proposal, conclusion.

Let's just say it wasn't sexual, but it sure as hell was romantic
