[ANOTHER]'s version of magicans. Instead of using religion, they use some sort of Network (similar to Multi-Skill) to use their "magic".

The base concept is still the same: People without talent trying to do things that people with talent are capable of.

Through the use of an Impersonal Reality generator together with a powerful network Server. (Imitating Idol Theory....Deriving "magic" from a Source). a normal human being is able to use Esper's ability through Programs known as Psionics.

this "pogram" stuff reminds me of mahouka-magic, i always thought it would be cool to have a story of toaru but with mahouka-magic-rules

This allow Psions to have a large variety of powers without the same limitation as Esper (one person one power). However, Psions not only have to prepare their Psionics before hand (every Psionics have an access code), they also have limited number of use (The said access code expire with certain number of uses). In a sense, they are similar to DnD wizard.

mmmhh, i will only give my opinion:
the concept with pograms is cool and the whole "other magic"-version is cool too but i dont like the "limited amount of use for each pogram", it sounds a bit forced,

i think it would be better if you limit the powerlvl of each spell which greatly reduces the normal magicians lvl, at most they should be lvl4, and after making stuff like "star of bethlehem" or "gungnir" they gain some high-lvl powers on par with accels or kakines powers,
it would balance the story more and force your char to use strategy to defeat the enemys who are comparable in powerlvl but not in preparation and spell-specialisation

The one major limiting factor that prevent Normal normal people from becoming a Psion is: It is difficult to get into. Unless you have the know how, programming a "Psionic" is not as easy as one think.... The Programming code are insanely complex and are getting more complicated with every updates. But if you are rich enough, there are Programmers who sell those programs at exorbitant price.

Fortunately there is a "Search Index" (guess) who can allow one to find the code they need instantly. Not to mention....there is a special volume within the 103,000 volumes, refer joking as the Book of Law. Solving the puzzle within the "Book of Law" would allow Psions to gain the "Master Key Code" which allow unlimited access to all Server.

So here's an idea I've been chewing on for a long while...

As a sort-of sequel to my other fic "Zero", this fic would focus on Hamazura's first year in middle school (which would later lead up to his departure from AC's curriculum). I'm imagining that Hamazura had classmates he grew up with since elementary but eventually grew apart from as the differences in powerlevels started showing. Basically, this fic would highlight his feelings of jealousy, inferiority, and paranoia as his "friends" start slowly ostracizing him for staying a level 0.

And all this would occur under a backdrop briefly mentioned in the novels:


Level 0 hunting. Or the sport of hunting down level 0's for the fun of it.


Going over it in my head, there's something interesting with the system of the methodical hunt of another human being. Say, going to a restricted website to find a target, actually finding the target in person, and making trophy pictures of bloodied bodies. And the people who do this are arguably of sane mind

If there's an inconsistency somewhere, please tell me. But other than that, how's the idea?

Seems really interesting, and the fact that Hamazura, who is usually discarded in fics, is the protagonist certainly make it even more appealing IMO.

Ahh...good idea. That's why I post my note for all to see.

High Tier Psionic need better equipment than your average equipments. It's like trying to play a Graphic Intensive game on full setting on an outdated Computer with low spec.

(I think the analogy work because Esper Ability need lots of calculation and Psionic is basically an Emulation).

You are lucky if it even work at all.

I don't want it to be too dangerous to use. This is ANOTHER universe where AC wanted to limit the number of death so as to do obtain more samples to achieve its goal.

However with that said. Death could only be resulted when you do something crazy like trying to run over 50 programs at once...(the minimum needed if you wanted to be a "Majin")

Psion version of Majin, Transcendent have the ability to alter universe due to having access to all Abilities at the same time. There is still a 50-50 chance of success and failure because.... of above.

To become a Transcendent, the Psionic equipment need to run with its Safety Feature off.

Brain Overload is just one of the nasty side-effect...

Lost Time Memory - character can induce another character into a state of dreaming for a minute or so.
Level ??? (same as above)

??? (needs name) - character can keep track one's own hair/nails/saliva up to a certain radius.
Level ??? (same as above)


I tried to think a little outside the box since low level abilities can't be "too useful", though they may be a bit... off. I'm open to suggestions of other low-level abilities if anyone wants to share something cool up their sleeve, but so far this is what I've got.

I'd say...maybe Lvl 2 if we're being generous. I'd say that when producing this effect it primarily is done where the entire body lights up and it only lasts for say eight seconds at most. Think of it more like a longer-lasting flash grenade than an actual strobe-light. Nevertheless, still useful, though not useful enough to warrant higher levels.

Is this like a trance? As in, like, putting someone in the state of 'lights are on, nobody's home' kinda deal? If so, not too shabby, and I'd put it as maybe...Lvl 3. I say that because I can see this person going the same route as Measure Heart from SCHOOL; the closer she was to someone, the stronger her ability was.

Seriously, I can totally see that person being one of the bigger fish in this whole '0 Hunting' thing you mentioned earlier.

And there's the really obscure one that I never would have thought of. This one's a definitely Lvl 2, mainly due to its inconvenience and the fact that Academy City has already created nano-machines that can do a tracking job much easier and more discreetly than this person could. It helps that range doesn't apply to the nano-devices either, provided the person doesn't know about them and dispatches them appropriately.

As for name, I'm having a hard time coming up with anything myself. About the closest thing I can think of for a name for it is Bio-Tagger and even that makes me cringe. I'll get back to you if I come up with something better, but for now that's all I've got.

i have a rather unusual but strong ability:

Forced REM (FREM): user can force the brain to create melanin to a hugh extend until the victim falls asleep, but not more, the victim needs to be in sight of the user (and at most 30 meters away) and the victim needs to be seen for a whole amount of 3 seconds,
but if it is correctly used it can cause the victim to fall asleep for at least 6 hours and at most for 8 hours

the esper is a lvl2

it depends on the amount of birghtness:
as much as a torch: lvl 1
as much as a flashlight: lvl2
as much as headlights: lvl3

platform-emission: it is pretty much like ichigos first stage of fullbring where he has a shield out of energy and he was able to throw it:
the esper has a diameter of 1 meter for his shield, the shield in itself is like vibranium, it can absorb kinetic energy
and he can throw it for 9 meters, the speed depends on the users lvl, by a normal throw he is by lvl2, with increased speed of 100km/h he is lvl3 and etc etc

@levelseven There a problem with limitations here. That is... I haven't decided what these people are going to do with these powers in the story yet, so I have no idea how what limits I should go after. I'm honestly thinking of leaving those vague for now... but I wonder if it's too much of a Deus ex machina to arbitraryly suddenly say a character can't do something...

So I finally got off my ass (and the finals being almost over kinda helped), so I tried to write a little something for a planned crossover. It is pretty obvious what Toaru is crossed over with, but anyway, I need a little help: what I have written (a letter to be exact) is more like an introduction than a proper snippet, but I would really appreciate some feedback on how it sounds, if it sounds official at all, if it isn't too awkward, if it isn't too long, etc.

It is my pleasure to inform you that your academy has been randomly selected from a pool of thousands of applicants from all over the world, inside and outside our usual international network, which consists of over 120 partner cooperatives worldwide. As such, Academy City usually welcomes and accepts exchange students from its partner schools only, but seeing the outstanding reputation of Reien Girl's Academy and its academic ranking among the top five schools in Japan, abrogate that rule in this particular case was the logical solution.

I prefer to go with the theme of [useless] (which is technically what Level 2 and 1 ability) are.

Level 1: Bug Puppeteer
Manipulate one insect.

Level 1: Empathy
Able to feel the same emotion as the Esper's target...

Level 1: Color Perception
Change colors on things... by altering the light wave that would have bounce off certain object. In a sense: low level version of that Esper who can control light.

Sticky Hand
Generate adhesive force that enable Esper to...
Level 1: Make things stuck onto him/herself
Level 2: Stick one thing on to another....similar to a magnet, the moment Esper move away, things fall apart.

Level 2: Dream Ranker
Ability to read dream (brainwave during REM stage) and record it on special devices....Could have been level 3 if the Esper could at least read normal brainwave.

Level 3: Force Multiplier
Double Kinetic force of object (that Esper apply power on).

Actually under the right hand....

Level 1 Empathy can be a very useful skill for the Manipulative.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot...level 1 Adhesive force is based on stories about people who can stick things on their body without it falling through their "power"...

Second Edit: Bug Puppeteer can manipulate one insect....as in controlling the Insect like RC car (as in literally, controlling them via Radio wave). Something along the line of Electromagnetic pest control. Power don't work when Electromaster are around (their AIM field affect the Esper's power)

Actually not much better (if you add up all the Pro and Con) because they are sandwiched between Level 0 (trash) and Level 3 (elite). Especially the Level 1.... their power is close to useless after all.

Skill-out(Level 0) bully them because they are Esper and easy targets (useless power).

Elitist Level 3 look down upon them because they are not part of the Elite. (Especially people from school like Tokiwadai)

Everybody laugh at them (if their power is really goddamn useless). Well, you already had seen how people would react.

Also due to parameter list: Some of them are not even going to get their power develop which means they are going to be stuck in that level.

So it was something like:

"yay! I am a Esper who can change color of objects....."

*pause upon realization how useless the power actually is*

"Better than level 0..."

*Skill-out appear*

EDIT: Anyone have any "name suggestions"? I think I've got the main cast down, but just need a few names for extras that appear. Also suggestions for what the title of this fic would be nice if anyone has something in mind... In any case, I hope this project goes well. The framework is simple and probably not as epic as they topic should be, but this is more of my style. I won't be working on this until after I finish that oneshot of a AU highschool deliquent Academy City I might have mentioned before on this site, but I'll definitely return to it.

With Great Power Come Great Responsibility....

I am planning to make this a joke in my story. Low Level Esper trying to be a hero because of it. Hiro was inspired because his ability is similar to Spider Sense.

A group fighting against AC and Darkside of Academy City. Consist of different people and group. At the very worst, they are terrorist with access to same level technology and equipment as Dark-Side.

This organization only existed in [ANOTHER] because AC allowed them to. Manipulating their devotion for Justice to take down Organization from Dark-Side that pose threat to AC.

Name: Hiroji Naru
Behind-name: Hiro Ni(alternate reading of Ji in her name) Naru (To be Hero)

Her defining trait: Heroic and hot-blooded like Gunha...only without guts and prefer....less honorable method of taking down her enemies (through tricky and bluff).

Also I am trying to make her opposite of Touma.... Her ability require her to Create an Illusion (that her power actually did something) and she wanted to be hero and actively jumping into dangerous situation to help others.

Level 1 Supernatural Phenomena [Paranoia]:
As a gag, the Esper give her ability many names.
Her ability does nothing..... other than generating AIM field, this AIM field make people feel uneasy. If you don't know about this fact about her power...the uneasy can turn into full blown paranoia (hence her title).

It felt like something is there but you don't know what is there. The sensation worse than what Mikoto experienced.

When combined with another Esper`(preferbly one who can create an illusion) the overall effect is powerful enough to trigger some form of nocebo effect where people actually get hurt by imaginary being because it felt too real.

The nocebo effect is how the Esper is able to take most people san Accelerator(once he activate his auto-reflect....the AIM sensation stop affecting him) and machines(no fear).

Her true level is actually 0 but her examiners got paranoid delusion from her power and placed her at level 1. In their defense, she does registered as having very faint AIM field

Due to Parameter list of the original world, her ability never get developed so she is really level 0 in that world.

Name: Tokiomi Ayumi
Behind-name: Toki(Y)omi...literally, Time Reading. Ayumi (step). The whole idea: She is basically executing/reading the code called time line by line (Stepping)
Level 4 Teleporter
Level 5 Time Control (Chrono-hand)

One defining trait of Ayumi is lack of motivation which seemed to translated to laziness. She attending school when she feels like it.... do her system scan halfheartedly.

She speak slowly....because of her AIM slow down her time but you don't really want to hear her speaking in normal speed (that means her power has just warmed up/finished calculation for activating her "Time-freeze")

She may appear to be an air-head at times, get distracted by minor things(in her defense: It's Academy City, you get Electromaster versus Vending machine, a guy getting bitten by a girl....Hard not to miss those considering that your time move slower than normal people).

But in reality, she is a honor student....Straight Aces. (Expected, considering that even though nobody knew about her power, she is still a Level 5 and trying to do the same calculation for her power would drive a mathematician insane).

Ironically, for an Esper who can control time, due to her AIM, she is never on time and is always late for school.

Despite of having overwhelming ability..... she is not much of a fighter (also because it would mostly be one-sided anyway). Without her ability, she can just forget about fighting and start running which she is surprisingly good at.

In term of Physical ability, her punch is weak but her stamina is really good and she is actually fitter than Misaki despite of skipping PE (because she chase after her bus every morning).

The reason for her lack of motivation is due to the death of her friend (by a Kihara trying to "awake" her power through the traumatic event...the said Kihara succeeded but is pretty much dead. Unable to move from the death...(Her time is frozen). Forever feeling a sense of guilt for unable to save her friend. The desire to protect her friend is what make her dangerous...

She only get into action because of her friends. If it wasn't for them, she would be gladly rotting away in her own dorm and became a Hikikomori.....which is exactly her fate in the original world.

Because her belief that time traveling is impossible...it became her mental block that prevented her from trying to do so.

In term of combat based purely on power/ability, in theory, she is actually more powerful when going full power than Accelerator at full power....but this is only based on the assumption that she can get the upper hand(managed to finish her calculation faster than Accelerator can kill her).

Edit: I forgot to mention: Her AIM hinted that she don't just have the ability to slow/stop time (speed up her time), she has the ability to accelerate time (slowing down her time...may be time travel to the future?)...but she is unaware of that. AIM is An Involuntary Movement after all.

Level 3: Company are interested to learn (to develop household equipment like those Psychic toys)
Level 2: Academic interest. (Weird ability are interesting to investigate)
Level 1: School interested...as in to advance the power to level 2 (Touma and Motoharu is actually Level 1 in this new Power System)
Level 0: Zero interest. Except for few organization who wanted to find out how to make Esper out of them.

EDIT: Anyone have any "name suggestions"? I think I've got the main cast down, but just need a few names for extras that appear. Also suggestions for what the title of this fic would be nice if anyone has something in mind... In any case, I hope this project goes well. The framework is simple and probably not as epic as they topic should be, but this is more of my style. I won't be working on this until after I finish that oneshot of a AU highschool deliquent Academy City I might have mentioned before on this site, but I'll definitely return to it.
