Plot summary: The story revolves around Nike, the determined princess of the Rain Dukedom who has a mysterious power: she can control rainfall. After losing a game of rock, paper, scissors to her older sisters, she is forced to unwillingly marry the king of the Sun Kingdom, Livius I. Livius (or Livi for short) conquered the world in three years, and is known as the "Dreadful King." However, when Nike meets him for the first time, she finds to her surprise that he is a boy younger than she is. Livius abruptly asks Nike to call forth the rain, and when she refuses, he has her thrown in jail. The story follows the two who, while at first are a married couple only in name, gradually begin to establish an emotional bond with one another.

Note: Shiina wrote two one-shots for the manga in 2009 and 2011 in Hakusensha's Hana to Yume magazine, and then launched the full series in the same magazine in 2012. Hakusensha published the sixth compiled volume on January 20.

I like the character designs, and I'm certainly down for a new romance anime .

As for the premise, it sounds interesting enough, and could be quite nice depending on how it progresses. Though, I will say, you don't really see the male lead throwing the female lead in jail happen that much in love stories .

Nope, it's just an accident of the naming choice. For example, the Sun King? His name is Livius, and his assistant is called Neil. There's no theme-naming so far that I've read in the manga scans -- which I might add, are actually behind, as there's five-odd volumes out already.

I have a low bar for getting entertained, but yeah, for a shoujo series, I'm liking what I'm seeing. Nike is a fairly likeable lead, and while Livius starts rough around the edges (like most shoujo males, he starts off as a big jerk), but the series goes a ways into explaining WHY he became that way, and he grows out of it somewhat.

The male of the relationship is younger? Slightly intriguing... I'm afraid of this being too vanilla for my tastes, though. At least it doesn't have some stupid kiddie design -- Nike actually looks really nice. Might keep an eye on it.

Take note, even I'm not sure where the anime will end up in, as in the translated chapters (volume 3 or so) so far there's no sign of a good place to stop at. In a shoujo series, that's a bit of a concern, especially if it only gets 12-13 episodes.

Wow, the cast is really shaping up quite nicely .

I wasn't expecting Nike's sisters to really play a role, but if they do, I wouldn't mind one of them getting their own romance alongside Nike and Livi .

... Well they do get to sing awesome Karaoke with Neil, but romance for Nike's sisters is kind of optimistic.

And Sugita as Neil? NEEEEEEEEEIL.

I haven't been able to sum up much interest in shoujo manga (or their anime adaptations) since I was a teen, but I kind of like the sound of this one. I really like Nike's design so I hope they don't change it much.

They just fixed Nike's proportions. The anime concepts also... gave her better curves (manga Nike is pretty skinny).

While this certainly screams shoujo all the way, the designs are good enough for me to definitely be perked by the summary. My favorite romances also happen to involve tsunderes, and while she's technically not a tsundere, the summary makes her sound like one just enough for me to say "Definitely watching!"
