Not enough Hotaru in ep 1.

I was like... "She will appear any minutes now... she will appear any minutes now...". And she literally only appear in last few tens of seconds

Yay, Nyanpasu returned this week!

And not only that, we get a fun game of pen and rulers. For some reason, that bought back some nostologia for me. I used to play a similar game when I was a kid in school lol. And anyways, the second half of the episode was sweet between Hotaru and Komari.

The first half was just brilliant. They made a simple kid's game so engrossing.

Second half was sweet and reminded us that despite how mature looking she is for her age, Hotaru is still just a 10 years old girl.

Agreed ... on both accounts. Actually the ruler game reminded me of the "paper football" game I used to play back in elementary school - although the ruler game was much more intricate rules and moves wise.

In this ep it finally clicked with me that Hotaru's VA is the same as that of Escha. That was a ... surprise, though a good one. I like the sound of her voice. ^^

And the scene with the stars was just lovely - I used to like doing things like that too, although for me it would involve lying down on top of a roof ... needless to say late spring through early autumn were the main times of the year I could do it.

The series thus far has been downright excellent and thoroughly enjoyable.

Episode 1 bothered the heck out of me. It bothered me so much since I thought it was continuing where season 1 left off.....however that went. I was so confused when Hotaru didn't show up anywhere throughout the episode, but when she did, it all made sense. lol

So it's confirmed that Season 2 is a "repeat" of Season 1, huh? Still, I like how a simple game of pens and rulers can become epic!

By the by, I really, really like the OP for this series...it somehow really fits both visually and musically. Really quite good. The lyrics for the ED are also extremely appropo and...well...downright lovely, I think. ^^

This is definitely one of the most effective overall packages of OP/ED/bgm for me this season.

Wow, the game with the ruler was actually full of strategy. And older brother was awesome. Those moves were something else xD. But even when he explained how to return home to Hotaru, he didn't speak, what the ^^".

Yes indeed...he barely spoke in season one as well. Heck...we could barely see his eyes in season one! In some ways comparitively in this season he has much more of a specific concrete presence as opposed to a mysterious ever-present one.

So, took a break from anime during spring (a few marathons are in order...) but Non non Biyori was my call back to anime because I can always use some healing and boy does it deliver.
Though that game might have been the most intense scene out of the show so far.

Love the idea of repeating the same year as well, the term "slice of life" gets thrown around a lot but NNB is one of the rare shows that truly qualifies as one and that's why it can pull off something like this.

I really hope to hear the brother sing the school song in previous episode. Well, maybe it's not the time yet. I guess we will know when they announce the voice actor for him.

Love both stories. The thing with the Ruler game is probably Natsumi's thing. She may not invented the game but I could see her coming up with all the silly complicated rules. Hotaru got lost twice, good thing she has a smart dog in the first time and komari fighting her fears in the second.

We see how different rural life is in Japan compared to other countries, for one there is always a vending machine in the middle of nowhere.

So it looks like this season will "fill in" in between the first season episodes. Episode 1 was, as it were, "0.5", episode 2 was "1.5"...if you follow me. I wonder if they're going to stick to that format, until the last episode this season will be in between 11 and 12 of the first season. This is going to make for some fun repeat viewings where I can watch all 25 episodes in chronological order. yay

As for the vending machine, I can't see the "vending machine in the middle of nowhere" gag without thinking of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It just seems so 'post-apocalyptic' to see a vending machine in the countryside like that. Probably because YKK was were I first saw that trope. <3

Oh ho? The ordering makes sense, and I also would like to steamroll all both series in that order as well if so. Hmm. Kinda smart on the part of the staff if this is so, actually.

Da ruler game requires a lot of skills, LOL

And they all ganged up on Nii-chan, poor guy, haha.

Also, did not know this season's episodes was placed in between season 1's episodes...

Wonder if anyone later will figure out which episode goes where and make a list to watch in that order, would be very interesting.
