They need someone to dodge their ballistic knives - moving target training.

Most of all, you have to be disciplined and you have to save, even if you hate our current financial system. Because if you don't save, then you're guaranteed to end up with nothing.

Woah, chill. That wasn't what I said. I was merely quoting a rather common saying.

As for the picture, the girls and their male classmates had just graduated from high school. It is apparently a Russian tradition for students to don traditional dress to celebrate their graduation. Many of them would visit famous landmarks like the Summer Palace to take their graduation photos.

Meanwhile, in other news:

Delhi rape victim arrives in S'pore
Quote:
Singapore (Dec 27, Thu): An Indian student who was left fighting for her life after being gang-raped in Delhi has arrived at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment. The patient arrived at the hospital's intensive care unit at 9.05am local time (1.05am GMT) in an extremely critical condition, said a spokesman for the hospital.

The hospital is working with the Indian High Commission, and has requested that the privacy of the patient and the family be respected.

Dr Kelvin Loh, chief executive of Mount Elizabeth Hospital, said: "As at 7pm (1am GMT), the patient remains in an extremely critical condition. A multi-disciplinary team of specialists is taking care of her and they are doing everything possible to stabilise her condition."

The 23-year-old patient, whose attack sparked protests across India, had been transferred from the Safdarjung hospital in central Delhi to Medanta hospital in Gurgaon, close to the city's international airport, before being flown to Singapore.

"The decision was taken this morning in the Cabinet," a source at Safdarjung told AFP early this morning. "Her mother and father are with her."

The Indian government is paying for the woman's treatment.

India President's son apologises for remarks on rape protests
Quote:
(Delhi, Dec 27, Thu): The Indian President's son landed himself in hot water with his own family today for denigrating the women who took part in mass protests over a gang rape. He described them as being middle-aged and caked in makeup.

Mr Abhijit Mukherjee, who is also a Member of Parliament, came in for widespread condemnation after he said that many of those who took part in the nationwide protests were "dented and painted" women rather than students.

"These pretty women, dented and painted... have no contact with ground reality," he told a regional news channel. The phrase "dented and painted" is used by mechanics who mask the bruised bodywork and rust on second-hand vehicles with liberal coatings of paint.

Among the most vocal critics was his sister, Sharmishtha, who described his comments as "a bit of a shocker" and said her father, President Pranab Mukherjee, also disapproved.

"It is definitely something that we as a family definitely don't agree with," she told the NDTV network. "It's not just one protest. It's accumulated rage over the way women are being treated, raped, molested... My father is absolutely with me on this."

AFP
India announces gang-rape inquiry
Quote:
(Delhi, Dec 26, Wed): India's government ordered a special inquiry today into the gang-rape of a student which sparked mass protests, as police announced the arrest of 10 men over another multiple sex assault.

A wave of angry protests over the Dec 16 assault on the student in New Delhi were subsiding when news of a Christmas Eve gang-rape in rural Tamil Nadu again shone the spotlight on the frightening levels of violence against women.

The special inquiry would "identify the lapses if any on the part of the police, or another authority or person that contributed to the occurrence, and fix responsibility for the lapses or negligence", Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, the government's top spokesman, said after a Cabinet meeting.

The police and prosecutors say six men, who were drunk and joy-riding in an off-duty bus with tinted windows, took turns to rape the student before throwing her off the vehicle.

During her assault, the victim suffered serious intestinal injuries from being beaten with an iron rod. All six alleged attackers have now been arrested and remanded in custody.

Official figures show that 228,650 of the total 256,329 violent crimes recorded last year were against women, with the number of rapes in the capital rising 17 per cent to 661 this year.

Good, about time they started doing something about it - assuming they actually do make meaningful changes instead of just paying lip service until the public furor goes away.

That is still great! She looks really cuddly *dodges ballistic knife*, though it would be better if she is 2-4 years younger *IS SHOT*

This is the reality for a lot of teen-aged and preteen Russian girls in dire circumstances. I don't find it especially humorous myself. I find it disgusting and exploitative and comprehensible all at the same time.

Never been too keen on the young girls doing modeling whether they're in Russia, the US, or on the moon. The whole situation seems predatory and wrong. I'm also just not a fan of modeling in general and think it's a stupid institution, but at least let the model develop into an adult and have some autonomy in their decision... which makes that creepy dude who said how he preferred scouting the girls BEFORE they develop said autonomy... all the more punchable in the face.

Its sad because in places where things may slip through the cracks, it may not get noticed/or be ignored if a(n impressionable) is asked to do a little more each time.. first its dresses, then swimsuits, then swimsuit videos, then topless pictures... and so on, until they're (manipulated) into a porn video or indebted to someone that may not really care about them at all or something.

The general who famously used the words "Hail Mary Play" when describing his strategy to defeat Iraq. "Stormin' Norman" will be remembered for that.

I was shocked when it turns out QE2 could be scrapped up soon. In China, of all places.

Or be bought by yet another new mainland billionaire who'd rather want the ship's prestige preserved.

I think it is pretty much the same worldwide - the lure of luxury goods actually made many young girls turn to modelling and its more exploitative trades in the same industry; earlier this year there is a girl over here who had been selling her body for money, ranging from young national service boys their old-and-married-with-children officers.

The advent of online social networking made it ever more easier to "procure" fresh sweet jailbait for tight personal pleasures - the younger the girl, the more premium they are.

If you asked for me after reading this:

I only wish those bastards will be hung dry in the streets and let for the crows to feed upon all of them. If some example has to be made out of those animals, that's how they should be punished: you act like animals, you die as animals. I'd not even allow those savages to have a proper burial after what they did.

I'm so freakin' pissed off right now.

Not sure how I missed this, but:

AK-47's inventor Kalashnikov hospitalised

Moscow, Dec 26 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of AK-47 assault rifle, has been hospitalised, his assistant Nikolai Shklyaev said Tuesday. Shklyaev said the 93-year-old Kalashnikov complained to him about his health before being taken to hospital last week. "He was in intensive care last Thursday," he said, adding that he had no information about the present condition of the legendary inventor. "He told me 'nothing hurts, but I feel exhausted.' That's all I know," he said.Kalashnikov's son Viktor, however, said that his father has been hospitalised for a planned health check.

South Korea planning to block pornography and swear words on teenagers' smartphones

Quote:
The South Korean government has laid out plans to install software on teenagers’ smartphones that will block "'illegal [and] harmful information." The Ministry Of Gender Equality And Family believes that installing the software will block swear words and slang — as well as prevent cyber-bullying — on social and messaging networks such as KaKao Talk, Facebook, and Twitter. The governmental body will also require a compulsory filtering service for mobile carriers that will block "harmful information" that includes pornography and nudity.
