Yup.. I don't think Neji was serious when he told the examiner he would kill him.. I believe he said that cuz naruto kept getting up and being persistent about not losing to him. Ever heard of 'intimidation'.

Ok.. the snake incident.. orochimaru wasn't going after naruto.. It was naruto who intervined to save sasuke from being attacked by the snake. Hmmm the nine tails' power DOES NOT always come ONLY when naruto is in danger of losing his life. It is also manifested when naruto becomes angry or agitated.

naruto never think lightly on any opponent

he fights with all he has everytime.

but why don't sasuke and itachi???

sasuke should copy copy and copy... "sasuke version of harem no jutsu!"

You know, I really don't understand how you can think that Naruto never takes his opponent lightly.
I mean come on! This is what he always does!
There isn't one guy in the whole manga to which Naruto didn't say that he will crush him like shit and that he was going to become Hokage because he was strongest anyway

Neji is the very first and the only(?) opponent that Naruto didn't takes lightly before a fight.

The story will never allow Sasuke to copy too much jutsu, if not he would be too strong.
It's not by hasard that Sasuke rests all the times at the hospital rather than to see combats
