Yes, this actually got a manga now...Author: Murayama Yoshitaka & Wizards of the coast(!) Anywho, summary by me:

Chandra Nalaar is a red mage currently living in a monastery somewhere in Keral mountain. The head asks her to go on a mission with the elf representative of a nearby village, but she has to keep her origin a secret, for she is in fact a planeswalker.

First chapter doesn't say all that much, guess we'll see how it goes.

Will Akroma, Phage and Karona appear? It's been ages when I played this card game.

Prolly not, from what I gather it will be planeswalker-related...now whether they mix Phyrexia and the old planeshift or go by the relatively new planeswalkers remains to be seen.

Well the first chapter does not say much but as far as i knows the story in magic universe (or it's multiverse?) it's strong , only that i hope to see a classic red vs blue battle, seeing blue in action in a manga will be really interesting since counter spells and tricky mage chars are not common in anime.
