Hmmm... I see I see... Two childhood friends and even the bird itself... Quite possibly the mysterious Prince as well later on...

Some parts are funny and I can't tell if it's a guy or girl that... flower shop person. Anyways, the ending part is interesting enough to keep me watching one more episode at least.

Picked it out of boredom and the fact that Mochizou looks a lot like male version of Ritsu.. with enough scenes, ut could word as a nice crossover for AMV

Anyway, I actually liked this episode. Bird is quiet fun so I'll keep watching this one.

Really not a fan of the bird.
Especially when it has like 2x the screentime as everyone else.
And way too much bird asshole shots.

Dat ending, damn. Really fun series, I had some great laughs at how ridiculous the whole thing was.

First episode was decent, but a little fast paced. I don't think Kyoani even take their time introducing the casts and we we glossed over Christmas and New Year in a flash.

As for the bird: I've got this impression that they are planning on stuffing him and eat him latter. The farewell mochi was drugged.

KyoAni does it again! The animation was fantastic, the opening and endings were adorable, and the characters were captivating as well. (Especially Mochizou, so adorable :3)

The bird had a larger role than I expected, honestly. Is it really Tamako's show? lol

The ED was so gorgeous!

Not really much substance as of yet, but Tamako Market seems pretty fun so far. I really liked the background details all across the shopping district, and the characters stand out easily from each other. That really has to be the fattest cockatiel I've ever seen!

I think the premiere is appealing largely because the main focus is on Tori and his bizarre antics – there’s a cast of moemoe schoolgirl friends waiting ominously in the wings, only occasionally present in the premiere, and if the focus of TamaKet turns mostly to that (as the track record of the creative team would indicate is likely) I could see the whole thing collapsing like a house of cards under the sheer weight of the cuteness.

I would like to subscribe to your service... this would be awesome though I doubt that's what we're going to see happen.

Haters go that way --->

But nah, tbh I came in expecting moe moe shenenigans much like in the same as K-on... and half the show was that. Which has a zero/negative impact on viewers who are not interested. I did however, really like the Cardcaptor Sakura references with the drumsticks and what not. That was nostalgic.

However, the other half was... whatever the feck that bird was and oh boy was he hilarious. Reminds me of the eccentricity and hilarity that the faeries brought in from Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita. He's one obnoxious and troll bird. The best comedy gold moment was when that bird ate too much mochi to the point he got so fat and couldn't fly . Great slapstick comedy.

Anyways, this is a keeper for now. Hopefully the focus will be more on birdantics and relationships between the various people in the Tamako Market, and less on the cute girls doing cute things.

Every-time the bird is talking, I cannot unhear Kayneth.
Really nice start i would say & the ED visual is gorgeous, as expected from KyoAni.

That was so adorable! I loved it. The dialogue was kinda thrown around at parts (the exposition about the origins of the mochi store and about her father) but I really like what they're going for with this and I thought the episode was paced well too.

At this point I might as well say I'm a fan of Yamada's directing.

Rewatched the OP as few times and I really dig it. It reminds me of those energetic and optimistic disney musical openings, partly due to that tophat and drumsticks and partly due to the choice of music used and the vibrant colors. The ED though is zzzzz.

Depending on where the direction goes, this might actually classify as "family entertainment" as the staff stated if they actually restrain itself from indulging in too much cute girls doing cute things but includes more of the bird and the interactions by the different shop-owners in the Tamako Market. And also hoping for another thing. Please don't turn it into a melodrama towards the end when the bird eventually leaves. Too much anime seem to lean towards making lighthearted shows turn unnecessarily overdramatic towards the end of its run. Chuunibyou was a classic recent example of that.

I forsee shiploads of plushies and merchandise in that bird's future... but I don't mind. I might even get one myself
