A curious trend of late since Love Hina is to have girls who are of the Scorpio star sign being sweet, innocent, kind hearted, pure and chaste.

Examples include:

Maehara Shinobu (Love Hina)
Takara Miyuki (Lucky Star)
Nunnally Lamperouge (Code Geass Franchise)

All are amongst the most caring, warm and nice girls you will ever meet.

But correct me if I'm wrong: isn't the archetypal Scorpio meant to be sarcastic, mean, domineering, cynical and sexually agressive?

Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for the author to have given girls as lovely and kind as they are signs like, say, the Virgo, rather than explicitly acknowledging that their star-sign is one that is typically reserved for villains and jerks?

That's a nice question, but to answer that i need to tell you something about the traits "given" to someone bases in their astrological sign.

One's traits aren't exclusively from their sign, is another sign that changes the person, that one is the ascendant, based in the hour and the local of birth.

The union between these two signs is what gives the "full" personality to someone, even changing their archetypal characteristics.

As an example, i'm a Leo, but my ascendant is Pisces and that affect some of the characteristic like being Pompous, Dogmatic, Pushy (from Leo, but nullified by Pisces) but there other that i maintain like Materialistic, Over-dramatic, Argumentative, Possessive.

But there is no precise way one can determine how an ascendant can affect their personality.

Good thread. I find discussion of Zodiac signs to be extremely interesting.

Would you guys say the following characters act like stereotypical Scorpios?

Sekai (School Days)
Louise (Zero no Tsukaima)
Shana (Shana no Shakugan)
Nagi Sanzenin (Hayate no Gotoku)

I'm inclined to think 'yes' for all four, but I'm just not sure...

You've picked 4 tsunderes and 3 of them are Kugimiya, the Queen of Tsundere, that's why you've observed a common point between them lol

I guess all Tsunderes should be Scorpios, but they're too numerous and thus is spread all over the Zodiac table.
