No, you're right - most of them are idiots. Rarely has such a good idea (hey, let's treat other things with brains with compassion) been commandeered by such uneducated, wackjob idiots.

There *are* legitimate animal treatment initiatives out there but PETA isn't one of them.... PETA does put out good pinups and porn, I guess.

I recall reading from another website there are a few other well-known mountains in China meant for 'risk-takers', or is this the only famous one?

PETA did specialise mostly in finding problem where there's none and making advertising for his own members. Too bad they are taken seriously mostly because they have some celebrities among their members.

First of all, those two videos are not of the same mountain. The first one is Hua Shan (or Mount Hua), which is one of the five sacred mountains. The five sacred mountains are associated with the directions (4 directions and the middle), Hua shan is the west mountain, it is located in the mid-west of China.

The second video is of Huang shan (yellow mountain) (it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List), which is in the south east of China.

Both mountains are around 2000m high. The 5 sacred mountains and the yellow mountain are known for their scenery beauty. There is a saying "五岳归来不看山,黄山归来不看岳", which translates roughly as "one who returns from the five sacred mountains think little of other mountains, one who returns from the yellow mountain think little of the five sacred mountains".

They are some of the most popular travel destinations in China (Don't go there on Chinese holidays, too crowded). There are cable cars people can ride, though they don't go to every spot so one need to climb stairs.

I found more videos on youtube for those who are interested. I'll put them in spoilers to save space.

Spoiler for Hua Shan:

Spoiler for Huang Shan (yellow mountain):

You could argue than a burger is a kind of sandwich but even so it do not look much eddible but of course you should compare this on other North Korea foods.

Edit: A slice of pizza still counts as a vegetable:

The industry backs the current rules which say that about a quarter-cup of tomato paste on a slice of pizza can count as a vegetable serving. The Agriculture Department proposal would have required that schools serve more tomato paste per piece of pizza to get a vegetable credit, an idea the industry thought would make pizza unappetizing.

I had a coworker that insisted on double sauce on his pizza. I tried it once. It wasn't bad actually.

A laughing mob acted as judge and jury when a thief stole an elderly woman's handbag - by stripping him naked and leaving him stranded just in his socks on a busy road.
The red-faced rogue was publicly humiliated in the northwestern Mexican town of Providencia, in front of a crowd of hundreds, after the group of ten gave chase following the woman's cries for help.
On catching the delinquent, they threw him to the ground and proceeded to rip off all of his clothes.

some good news from mexico

If they're worried about school pizza being unappetizing, I have some bad news for them.

Sometimes you gotta wonder if PETA is actually an agent provocateur organization run by some antienvironmentalist types, or, heck, even some corporation that's frequently targeted by environmentalists with better PR, like Weyerhauser, McDonald's, or the Rio Tinto Group. Few organizations have done more to tarnish environmentalists.

hahaha... to PETA: you don't know how to do comedy, stop it. Bunch of maroons...
When you look at PETA's track record, there is nothing that would lead anyone to think that the stunt was anything but dead serious to them initially.

I think that would almost count as cosplay in some circles.
